A highly selective, sensitive and stable fluorescent chemosensor based on Schiff base and poly(azomethine-urethane) for Fe3+ ions

Musa Kamacı,Ismet Kaya 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.46 No.-

In this paper, Schiff base (PAH) and its poly(azomethine-urethane) derivative (P-PAH) were synthesizedand high-quality film sensor of these compounds could be easily fabricated on transparent polyestersurface through dip-coating technique. Then, these films were used as fluorescence probes for thedetection of metal ions in aqueous solutions. Photophysical properties of fluorescent films wereinvestigated using fluorescence and UV–vis spectrometers. Fluorescence properties of probes wereinvestigated in the presence of a series of differentmetal ions and the results showed thatmonomer andpolymer films have a highly sensitive and selective response to Fe3+ ion in deionized water. Moreover, fluorescence measurements showed that the prepared fluorescent films have in the range 143–180 nmStokes shift value. Also, contact angles of film probes were investigated and contact angles of PAH and PPAHprobes measured as 85 1 and 95 2o, respectively.

The effect of neuropathic pain on quality of life, depression levels, and sleep quality in patients with combat-related extremity injuries

        Atar Merve Örücü,Kamacı Gizem Kılınç,Özcan Fatma,Demir Yasin,Aydemir Koray 대한외상학회 2022 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.35 No.3

Purpose: There is limited research on the effects of neuropathic pain (NP) on quality of life, depression levels, and sleep quality in patients with combat-related extremity injuries. This study evaluated whether patients with combat-related extremity injuries with and without NP had differences in quality of life, sleep quality, and depression levels. Methods: A total of 98 patients with combat-related extremity injuries, 52 with NP and 46 without, were included in this cross-sectional study. The presence of NP was determined using the Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs questionnaire. The outcome measures were a visual analogue scale (VAS), the 36-Item Short Form Survey, the Beck Depression Inventory, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).Results: The VAS subparameter scores for pain (all P˂0.05), PSQI sleep duration subscale scores (P=0.025), PSQI sleep disturbance subscale scores (P=0.016), and PSQI total scores (P=0.020) were significantly higher in patients with NP than those without. Logistic regression analysis showed that VAS scores of 5 and above for average pain during the previous 4 weeks contributed independently to the prediction of NP.Conclusions: Patients with combat-related extremity injuries with NP had more pain and poorer sleep quality than those without NP. Sleep quality should be evaluated as part of the diagnostic work-up in patients with combat-related extremity injury with NP, and interventions to improve sleep quality may help manage NP in this patient group.

Reaction Conditions, Photophysical, Electrochemical, Conductivity, and Thermal Properties of Polyazomethines

        İsmet Kaya,Mehmet Gökpınar,Musa Kamacı 한국고분자학회 2017 Macromolecular Research Vol.25 No.7

In this paper, a series of Schiff bases and their polyazomethine derivatives were synthesized via condensation and oxidative polycondensation reactions of 4- aminophenol with 4-isopropylbenzaldehyde or 4-t-butylbenzaldehyde. Polymerization reaction conditions for polymerization yield of polyazomethines were investigated by changing some experimental parameters such as time and temperature using different oxidants like alkaline NaOCl (30%) and air. The structural characterizations of Schiff bases and polymers were performed using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and SEC techniques. Photophysical properties were studied UV-vis and photoluminescence spectroscopies. Electrochemical properties were also investigated cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical band gaps determined in the range 1.73 to 2.63 eV. Thermal properties of the compounds were investigated using TG-DTA and DSC techniques and char residue at 1000 oC determined between 3-6% and 39-34% for Schiff bases and polyazomethines, respectively. Moreover, conductivity measurements were done using four-point probe technique at both doped with iodine vapor and un-doped state.
