PURPOSE: Skeletal muscle has remarkable regenerative capacity in most minor injuries induced by mechanical laceration, overstretching, and toxins. However, volumetric muscle loss (VML) injury, a large volume of muscle loss beyond the self-repair capacity, causes functional disability and morphological deformities. This study investigated the effects of myofiber injection into a decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) and resistance training (RT) on skeletal muscle regeneration following VML injury. METHODS: 6-months-old male Fischer CDF rats and 2-months-old F344-Tg (UBC-EGFP) rats (myofiber donors) were used in this study. Approximately 20% of the mass of the lateral gastrocnemius (LGAS) was excised and replaced by ECM of similar dimensions. Thirty myofibers were injected into the injured region seven days post-injury. Ladder climbing (RT) was allowed 10 days post-defect surgery, and the rats were subjected to ladder climbing with a weight every third day for 6 weeks. RESULTS: After 56 days of recovery and exercise training, the cross-sectional area (CSA) of intact muscle in the EXE group (5,104±92 μm2 ) increased significantly compared to that in the ECM (4,657±79 μm2 ) group. The number of blood vessels larger than 20 μm in diameter, capillaries excluded, showed a significant difference between the ECM+EXE (34.25±4.2) and ECM (21.75±3.89) groups. A significant reduction of fibrosis in the ECM+EXE (44.50±1.6%) group was observed compared to the ECM (69.25±1.9%) and ECM+FIB+EXE (63.00±1.7%) groups. Moreover, the small muscle fiber area within the transplanted ECM was significantly larger in the ECM+EXE (1.37±0.03 mm2 ) than in both the ECM (0.49±0.01 mm2 ) and ECM+FIB (0.62±0.01 mm2 ) groups. CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that ECM transplantation with RT effectively repairs VML by enhancing hypertrophy, angiogenesis, and myofiber infiltration throughout the entire ECM.
H-pile로 보강된 Sheet pile 흙막이 벽체의 적용을 위한 수치해석

본 연구는 차수가 요구되는 현장에 Sheet Pile을 적용하려고 하나 풍화암 등의 지반조건으로 인해 항타관입성의 제한이 있을 때 H-Pile로 보강된 Sheet Pile 흙막이 벽체를 적용하기 위한 수치해석 연구이다. Sheet Pile을 H-Pile로 보강한 S/H 복합파일의 거동을 규명하기 위하여 Sheet Pile의 규격 2종류와 H-Pile 3종류의 부재조건 변화, Sheet Pile과 H-Pile의 설치 근입심도 변화, H-Pile의 설치간격, 굴착조건 등을 변화시킨 101개의 경우에 대해 광범위한 수치해석을 실시하였다. 수치해석 결과, Sheet Pile SP-IIIA와 H-Pile H250, Sheet Pile SP-IV와 H-Pile H350의 조합에서 두 부재가 동시에 허용응력에 도달하거나 같은 응력비를 갖는 것으로 나타나 이 기성제품 조합이 효율적임을 알 수 있었으며, S/H 복합파일의 강성이 증가할수록 벽체의 수평변위가 감소하였고 S/H 복합파일 중 Sheet Pile의 근입심도가 안정성에 미치는 영향은 작은 것으로 나타나 Sheet Pile은 지지층 내 관입이 가능한 위치까지만 설치하여도 차수 및 벽체강성 증가의 목적을 달성할 수 있을 것으로 분석되었다. This paper is results of numerical study for application of sheet pile retaining wall reinforced with H-pile as sheet piles are needed in field for a cutoff wall and are limited to use because of driveability in the ground condition of having a larger strength than a weathered rock. Extensive 101 cases of numerical approach were conducted to investigate the behavior of sheet pile retaining wall reinforced with H-pile, changing installing members of two types of sheet pile and three types of H-pile, the embedded depth of sheet pile and H-pile, the horizontal space between H-piles and excavation conditions. As the results of numerical analysis, combined use of the sheet pile SP-IIIA with H-Pile H250 and the sheet pile SP-IV with H-Pile H350 among precast products was found to be efficient since two members tended to reach allowable stresses simultaneously or have similar stress concentration ratios. Increased stiffness in reinforced sheet pile showed reduction of lateral displacement of wall. Embedded depth of sheet pile did not affect stability of wall significantly so that driving the penetrable depth of sheet pile should be enough to maintain stability of wall and satisfy purposes of cutoff and stiffness increase of wall.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Aluminum (Al) matrix composites reinforced by SiC particulates (SiCp/Al) were fabricated by the atmospheric plasma spraying. The composite powder, as a feedstock for plasma spraying, was prepared by ball milling of pure Al powders with 55 vol.% SiC particles. The feedstock was deposited into a freestanding bulk composite sheet on a graphite substrate by atmospheric plasma spraying. As-sprayed composites had a great amount of porosity, which deteriorates the thermo-physical properties, especially the thermal conductivity. In order to reduce the porosity of the plasma-sprayed SiCp/Al composite sheets, rolling processes were carried out at the room and elevated temperature with the thickness reduction of about 20%. The thermal conductivities of the rolled composites were considerably enhanced with the decrease of the porosity in the composites, while the coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) of the composites were slightly affected by the rolling process.</P>

본 연구는 네트워크 이론을 기반으로 인수합병 전 피인수기업의 네트워크 포지션이 인수합병 후 인수기업의 혁신창출에 미치는 영향력을 관찰하였다. 보다 구체적으로 네트워크 이론의 관점에서 도출한 변수들인 피인수 기업의 기술적 지위와 중개위치 수준이 인수합병 후 인수기업의 혁신창출의 정도에 미치는 영향을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 한편 이러한 피인수기업의 인수합병 전 네트워크 포지션의 효과가 인수기업의 기술적 경로의존성의 정도에 따라 변화하는지 역시 살펴보고자하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 대표적인 지식집약적 산업 중의 하나인 화학/제약(chemical/pharmaceutical) 산업에서 지난 1994년부터 1997년까지 행해진 인수합병 사례를 표본으로 하여 실증분석을 수행하였다. 실증분석에서는 인수합병 후 인수기업에서 출원한 특허 건수를 사용하여 인수기업의 혁신 창출 정도를 측정하고 이를 음이항 회귀분석(negative binomial regression)의 종속변수로 삼아 분석하였다. 분석 결과 피인수기업의 기술적 지위와 중개위치 수준은 인수합병 후 인수기업의 혁신 창출에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 피인수기업의 기술적 지위의 긍정적 효과는 인수기업의 기술적 경로의존성이 강할 경우 약화되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of status and brokerage of the acquired firm on the subsequent innovation performance of the acquiring firm in technological acquisitions. We draw upon the network theory to develop a theoretical model and a networkbased mapping of the technological positions of the acquired firms in an industry. Specifically, we focus on two dimensions of the acquired firm: status and brokerage. This study further examines how path-dependency of the acquiring firm moderates the positive effect of status and brokerage of the acquired firm on the subsequent innovation performance of the former. Specifically, we propose the following hypotheses: H1: Technological status of the acquired firm is positively related to the subsequent innovation performance of the acquired firm. H2: Brokerage scores of the acquired firm is positively relatd to the subsequent innovation performance of the acquired firm. H3a: The positive effect of the technological status of the acquired firm on the subsequent innovation performance of the acquiring firm is weaker for the acquiring firm with higher path-dependency of the acquiring firm. H3b: The positive effect of the brokerage scores of the acquired firm on the subsequent innovation performance of the acquiring firm is weaker for the acquiring firm with higher path-dependency of the acquiring firm. To empirically examine the above hypotheses, we indentify 102 sample firms whose acquisition announcements were completed in chemical/pharmaceutical industry of high-tech industries during 1994∼1997, using the SDC (Securities Data Corporation) database. Following Podolny and Stuart (1995), we configure the patent data in a binary, patent-to-patent citation matrix to compute measures of technological positioning. The results of the study generally support our theoretical predictions. Status and brokerage of the acquired firm have positive and significant effects on subsequent innovation output of the acquiring firm. Path-dependency of the acquiring firm has a negatively moderating effect between status and innovation output.
