Alice Springs Orogeny (ASO) Footprints Tracing in Fresh Rocks in Arunta Region, Central Australia, Using Uranium/Lead (U-Pb) Geochronology

        Kouame Yao(Kouame Yao ),Mohammed O. Idrees(Mohammed O. Idrees ),Abdul-Lateef Balogun(Abdul-Lateef Balogun ),Mohamed Barakat A. Gibril(Mohamed Barakat A. Gibril ) 대한자원환경지질학회 2023 자원환경지질 Vol.56 No.6

This study investigates the age of the surficial rocks in the Arunta region using Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) geochronological dating. Rock samples were collected at four locations, Cattle-Water Pass (CP 1610), Gough Dam (GD 1622 and GD 1610), and London-Eye (LE 1601), within the Strangways Metamorphic Complex and crushed by selFragging. Subsequently, the zircon grains were imaged using Cathodoluminescence (CL) analysis and the U-Pb (uranium and lead) isotope ratios and the chrono-stratigraphy were measured. The imaged zircon revealed an anomalous heterogeneous crystal structure. Ellipses of the samples at locations GD1601, CP1610, and GD1622 fall below the intercept indicating the ages produced discordant patterns, whereas LE1601 intersects the Concordia curve at two points, implying the occurrence of an event of significant impact. For the rock sample at CP1610, the estimated mean age is 1742.2 ± 9.2 Ma with mean squared weighted deviation (MSWD) = 0.49 and probability of equivalence of 0.90; 1748 ± 15 Ma -MSWD = 1.02 and probability of equivalence of 0.40 for GD1622; and 1784.4 ± 9.1 Ma with MSWD of 1.09 and probability of equivalence of 0.37 for LE1601. But for samples at GD1601, two different age groups with different means occurred: 1) below the global mean (1792.2 ± 32 Ma) estimated at 1738.2 ± 14 Ma with MSWD of 0.109 and probability of equivalence of 0.95 and 2) above it with mean of 1838.22 ± 14 Ma, MSWD of 1.6 and probability of equivalence of 0.95. Analysis of the zircon grains has shown a discrepancy in the age range between 1700 Ma and 1800 Ma compared to the ASO dated to have occurred between 440 and 300 Ma. Moreover, apparent similarity in age of the core and rim means that the mineral crystallized relatively quickly without significant interruptions and effect on the isotopic system. This may have constraint the timing and extent of geological events that might have affected the mineral, such as metamorphism or hydrothermal alteration.

The Impact of Outsourcing Strategy on a Firm’s Innovation and Internationalization

Kouame Samson,이영우 동아시아경상학회 2019 The East Asian Journal of Business Economics Vol.7 No.4

Purpose – Based on transaction cost perspective and institution-based perspective, this research attempts to investigate the effect of outsourcing on a firm’s performance and how it interacts with institutional context in which the firms operate. Research design, data, and methodology –With a sample of 164 manufacturing firms form South Korea, we examine the direct effects of outsourcing on the a firm’s level of product innovation and internationalization and the moderating effects of competitive pressure and property right protection as important external factors that could affect the effectiveness of outsourcing decision. Result – The findings show that outsourcing not only enhance a firm’s capability to concentrate on its core competencies, but also to increase a firm’s combinative capacity to acquire external knowledge. Furthermore, we finds that in a highly competitive environment, potential knowledge spillovers to other competitors may attenuate the potential benefits of outsourcing. Conclusion – Outsourcing can enhance a firm’s innovation activities by providing valuable access to external knowledge and also to complementary resources from the external partners, which in turn enables firms to focus on core competences.

IL-4 and IL-5 Secretions Predominate in the Airways of Wistar Rats Exposed to Toluene Diisocyanate Vapor

Kouame Kouadio,Kui-Cheng Zheng,Abdoulaye Abba Toure,Mireille Dosso,Hidemi Todoriki 대한예방의학회 2014 Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health Vol.47 No.1

Objectives: We established a Wistar rat model of asthma caused by toluene diisocyanate (TDI) exposure, and investigated the relationshipbetween TDI exposure concentrations and respiratory hypersensitivity, airway inflammation, and cytokine secretions in animals,to better understand the mechanism of TDI induced occupational asthma. Methods: Wistar rats were exposed to two different concentrations of TDI vapor four hours a day for five consecutive days. Bronchoalveolarlavage (BAL) was performed, and differential leucocytes from the BAL fluid were analyzed. Lung histopathological examination was carried out to investigate the inflammatory status in the airways. Production of cytokines interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-5 productions in the BAL fluid in vivo was determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. Results: The TDI-exposed rats exhibited greater airway hypersensitivity symptoms than the control rats. The BAL differential cell count and lung histopathological examination demonstrated that inflammation reactions were present in both the central and peripheral airways, characterized with marked infiltration of eosinophils in the TDI-exposed rats. The cytokine assay showed that IL-4 and IL-5 were predominantly produced in the BAL fluid in vivo. Conclusions: These findings imply that TDI exposure concentrations may greatly affect the occurrence and extent of inflammatory events and that Th2 type cytokines may play an important role in the immunopathogenesis of TDI-induced occupational respiratory hypersensitivity.

Microfinance Repayment by Women Groups in Rural Côte d’Ivoire

        쿠아메 잔밥티스트 패트릭(Kouame Jean-Baptiste Patrick),한동근(Han Dong Geun) 영남대학교 박정희새마을연구원 2016 새마을학연구 Vol.1 No.1

The main objective of this paper is to highlight the positive features of the rural microfinance that can reduce the high default rate in Côte d’Ivoire. Through a regression analysis, it was discovered that the percentage of women borrowers has a negative effect on portfolio at risk in terms of the measurement of the level of repayment. Lending to women can induce higher repayment rate due to the conservative nature of women’s investment and lower the risk of moral hazard. Women are thus, considered as consistently better in promptness and reliable in settling payments. The study also shows that the strong natural social ties among rural community members is a significant advantage to set up the well celebrated group lending scheme. Reputation, good faith and level of debt capacity are considered as factors that determine the creditworthiness of a borrower.

Proximité de langue et confiance: Un modèle financier gagnant ?

        Cornelia Caseau,Kouakou Kouame 고려대학교 응용문화연구소 2015 에피스테메 Vol.0 No.14

Subsequent to the deregulation of the markets in the 1990s, a bigger diversity of clients (Sheth & Shainesh, 2005), and a significant change in consumer behavior, the situation for numerous sectors, such as the bank sector, drastically changed and led to a crisis of confidence. To find a way out of this situation, certain financial organizations looked to improve their image by reinforcing customer-employee interaction and intensifying interpersonal relations (Berry, 1993). In this respect, the experience of the Austrian cooperative bank Raiffeisenlandesbank (RLB NÖ-Wien) could inspire microfinance. The bank provided specific linguistic and intercultural training for its staff working with a multi-ethnic population, and has bank branches with multi-language speaking employees in high immigration density districts. This managerial model could be of particular interest in the Ivory Coast given that the linguistic communication model upon which microfinance is based in the Ivory Coast has shown its limits with regard to an illiterate clientele or one with a poor level of French.
