As a result of interaction between countries in a world which is gradually becoming global, foreign language teaching has become more important and this importance is increasing day by day. It is a fact that every language is a door which opens to a different culture; especially interaction between civilizations has made it compulsory to learn about other cultures. This is why the majority of people today are very eager to learn a foreign language. Reading an authentic literary text in the foreign language can be seen as a personal encounter with the foreign culture. If the process of reading and interpreting a text is seen as an attempt to produce meaning from the multiplicity and polyphony of that particular text, the learner enters into a dialogue with the text and the foreign culture in a productive subject-subject relationship. The reading process is individual and authentic and there is not only scope for the individual learner's interpretation and understanding, but also a need for it. Without the reader, the text is just a series of written signs on paper; it is the individual reader with his or her pre-knowledge and 'personal constructs'. In foreign language teaching culture, as regards the cultural dimensions in literary texts are subjects which are often neglected. It is quite difficult to say that the procession of a literary text has been materialized as it should be. This article consists of 3 chapters: Ⅰ. The Peak of Authentic Text Types: Literary Text Ⅱ. Foreign Language/Foreign Culture and Literary Text Ⅲ. The Cultural Dimensions and Contributions of Literary text in Foreign Language Teaching. In this article, literary texts are dealt with their cultural dimensions which are one of the most important factors in foreign language teaching-learning and the importance of choosing literary texts are discussed.
Proton Ordering and Conduction in TlH2PO4 with a Paraelectric-antiferroelectric Mixed Order
Se-Hun Kim,K. W. Lee,J. H. Han,이철의,K.-S. Lee 한국물리학회 2009 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.55 No.4
We have studied proton ordering and proton conduction in a TlH2PO4 single crystal associated with the recently identi¯ed intermediate paraelectric-antiferroelectric mixed phase with a phase boundary temperature Ts = 327 K. According to the 1H nuclear magnetic resonance rotating- frame spin-lattice relaxation measurements, proton ordering takes place at Ts rather than at the structural phase transition temperature Tc = 230 K. Distinct temperature dependencies of the electrical conductivity were observed below and above Ts, indicating that proton conduction in the system is dictated by the proton and the electric dipole orders.
Myopericarditis caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2
İbrahim Ulaş Özturan,Beril Köse,Buğra Özkan,Ataman Köse 대한응급의학회 2020 Clinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine Vol.7 No.4
A 25-year-old man presented to the emergency department with acute-onset chest pain and shortness of breath. A physical examination revealed coarse crackles in the both lower lungs. Consolidation and ground-glass opacities suggesting viral infection were detected in the right lower lobe on chest computed tomography. Laboratory findings revealed elevated troponin, leukocytosis, and lymphopenia. Electrocardiography revealed ST segment elevation with PR depression in leads I, aVL, V5, and V6, and ST depression and PR elevation in aVR. Echocardiography revealed diffuse cardiac hypokinesia and a decreased left ventricular ejection fraction. Suspecting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)–related myopericarditis, the patient was hospitalized. After one week of empirical antibiotics, antivirals, and supportive therapy, his condition improved. Antibody testing for COVID-19 was positive on hospitalization day 8. The presentation of myopericarditis can be vague and mislead physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Myopericarditis should be included as a differential diagnosis for patients with suspected COVID-19.

Carthamus tinctorius L. (known as safflower) is a valuable oil plant whose importance is increasing rapidly in the world due to its high adaptation to arid regions. The seeds of this unique plant are especially used in edible oil, soap, paint, varnish and lacquer production. Its flowers are used in vegetable dye production and medicinal purposes beside its features as a coloring and flavoring in food. After the oil is removed, the remaining pulp and plant parts are used as animal feed, and dry straw residues are used as fuel. Beside all these features, its usage as a herbal medicinal plants for various diseases has gained importance on recent years. In this study, it was designed a plant metabolomic approach which transfers all the recent data processing strategies of untargeted metabolomics in clinical applications to the present study. Q-TOF LC/MS-based analysis of the extracts (70% ethanol, hexane, and chloroform) for both seed and flowers was performed using a C18 column (Agilent Zorbax 1.8 µM, 100 × 2.1 mm). Differences were observed in seed and fruit extracts and these differences were visualized using principal component analysis (PCA) plots. The total number and intersections of the peaks in the extracts were visualized using peak count comparison graph. Based on the experimental results, the number of the detected peaks for seeds was higher than the ones for the flowers for all solvent systems to extract the samples.
Chemical meat bait traps versus basic meat bait traps in collection of adult flies
Halide Nihal AÇIKGÖZ,Serdal Kenan KÖSE,Duygu DIVRAK 한국곤충학회 2017 Entomological Research Vol.47 No.1
The aim of the present study is to compare the effectiveness of chemical meat bait traps and basic meat bait traps for collecting adult flies. Bait traps used to collect these species can be damaged by anthropogenic or environmental effects. In this study, chemical meat bait traps and basic meat bait traps were hung from trees in the garden of the Ankara University Forensic Sciences Institute. This activity was carried out on the first Monday of each month for nine months. During the study, 1894 specimens were collected. Of all these species, 1787 (94.35%) were obtained from chemical meat bait traps (CMBTs), while 107 (5.65%) were obtained from basic meat bait traps (BMBTs). To determine the diversity of species in CMBT and BMBT sample groups in our study, Shannon Wiener and Simpson diversity and dominance indices were used. Shannon Evenness Index was calculated to determine the relationship between species community‐density. Cluster analysis provided a summary of the similarity in species composition of different regions. The CMBT and BMBT trap groups similarity/dissimilarity feature was checked using Bray–Curtis cluster analysis. The number of species collected from CMBTs was considerably higher than in BMBTs. The results of this study will help researchers to save time. In addition, it should be kept in mind that thiamethoxam is harmful to the environment when it contaminates sources of water.

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate and to validate feasibility of the earlier proposal on ergonomic approach for High-Touch product development, which was published in IE Interface (April, 1988). Based on the proposed methods, six new High Touch products were developed. Expert opinions and consumer monitoring results, which was carried out in the United States, showed that these High Touch products would be highly regarded in the world market. It is recommended that the proposed efforts could provide a prosperous niche market for Korean industry in the High Tech-High Touch Era.

The receptor for advanced glycan end products (RAGE) has been identified as a susceptibility gene for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in genome-wide association studies (GWASs). However, less is known about how RAGE is involved in the pathogenesis of COPD. To determine the molecular mechanism by which RAGE influences COPD in experimental COPD models, we investigated the efficacy of the RAGE-specific antagonist FPS-ZM1 administration in in vivo and in vitro COPD models. We injected elastase intratracheally and the RAGE antagonist FPS-ZM1 in mice, and the infiltrated inflammatory cells and cytokines were assessed by ELISA. Cellular expression of RAGE was determined in protein, serum, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of mice and lungs and serum of human donors and patients with COPD. Downstream damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) pathway activation in vivo and in vitro and in patients with COPD was assessed by immunofluorescence staining, Western blot analysis, and ELISA. The expression of membrane RAGE in initiating the inflammatory response and of soluble RAGE acting as a decoy were associated with up-regulation of the DAMP-related signaling pathway via Nrf2. FPS-ZM1 administration significantly reversed emphysema in the lung of mice. Moreover, FPS-ZM1 treatment significantly reduced lung inflammation in Nrf2(+/+) , but not in Nrf2(-/-) mice. Thus, our data indicate for the first time that RAGE inhibition has an essential protective role in COPD. Our observation of RAGE inhibition provided novel insight into its potential as a therapeutic target in emphysema/COPD.-Lee, H., Park, J.-R., Kim, W. J., Sundar, I. K., Rahman, I., Park, S.-M., Yang. S.-R. Blockade of RAGE ameliorates elastase-induced emphysema development and progression via RAGE-DAMP signaling.
