        본 연구는 건전지나 플라스틱 등 산업물질, 식품, 흡연 그리고 공기 물 등을 통해 인간과 생태계에 노출되고 있는 중금속 카드뮴을 인간 유방암 세포 MCF-7에 처리하였을 때 일어나는 현상을 살펴보고 나아가 카드뮴의 독성기전을 규명하기 위해 시행되었다 카드뮴으로 인한 아폽토시스는 DNA분절 현상과 핵의 쪼개짐, 세포주기에 있어서 sub-Gl의 출현 그리고 아폽토시스시에 발현되는 단백질 caspase의 발현 특히 산화적 스트레스상태에서 마이토콘드리아가 손상을 입었을 때 발현되는 caspase-9의 발현을 통해 확인하였다 카드뮴으로 인한 신화적 스트레스는 활성 산소종이 대조군에 비해 증가하고 이를 방어하기 위한 항산화효소 superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathion reductase가 감소함을 통하여 확인하였다 이상의 결과들을 통해 카드뮴은 인간 유방암 세포 MCF-7에서 산화적 스트레스를 유발시켜 아폽토시스를 일으키는 것으로 추정할 수 있다.

      • High electrocatalytic performance of N and O atomic co-functionalized carbon electrodes for vanadium redox flow battery

        <P>The effects of nitrogen and oxygen atomic co-functionalization of graphite felt (GF) by ammoxidation reactions for the positive and negative electrodes of vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) are investigated. Ammoxidative surface reactions of the pristine-GF with NH3/O-2 results in effective N and O co-doping dominantly with kinetically relevant N and O functional groups; pyrrolic-N, pyridinic-N, and hydroxyl with high site densities. The intrinsic rate measurements reveal that the N and O co-functionalized GF electrodes (referred to as N-GF) afford one to several orders magnitude higher VO2+/VO2+ and V2+/V3+ redox kinetics than the pristine-CF. Notably, the N and O co-functionalization gives rise to 2-3 folds greater reaction kinetics for both half-cell reactions than the conventional electrodes doped only with O functional groups (O-GF) at similar atomic contents. The high electrocatalytic properties of N-GF afford 4-6% greater voltage and energy efficiencies in VRFB than the conventional O-GF electrode at high current density (110 mA cm(-2)) with similar to 38% higher initial charge-discharge capability owing to the significantly reduced overpotential. These results suggest the marked synergetic contributions of N and O co-functionalization of carbon electrode for facilitation of vanadium redox kinetics and the high effectiveness of the simple and scalable ammoxidation-based functionalization protocol.         Improved Tri-iodide Reduction Reaction of Co-TMPP/C as a Non-Pt Counter Electrode in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

        We report Co-tetramethoxyphenylporphyrin on carbon particles (Co-TMPP/C) as a non-Pt catalyst for tri-iodide reduction in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The presence of well-dispersed carbon and cobalt source in the catalyst surface is confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. In the C 1s, Co 2p, and N 1s peaks measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the C-N, Co-$N_4$, and N-C are assigned to the component at 285.7, 781.8, and 401 eV, respectively. Especially, the Co-TMPP/C shows improved current density, diffusion coefficient, and charge-transfer resistance in the ${I_3}^-/I^-$ redox reaction compared to conventional catalysts. Furthermore, in the DSSCs performance, the Co-TMPP/C shows increased short circuit current density, higher open circuit voltage, and improved cell efficieny in comparison with Pt/C.

      • Reduced Microvascular Volume and Hemispherically Deficient Vasoreactivity to Hypercapnia in Acute Ischemia: MRI Study Using Permanent Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion Rat Model

        <P> Vasoreactivity to hypercapnia has been used for assessing cerebrovascular tone and control altered by ischemic stroke. Despite the high prognostic potential, traits of hypercapnia-induced hemodynamic changes have not been fully characterized in relation with baseline vascular states and brain tissue damage. To monitor cerebrovascular responses, T2- and T2<SUP>∗</SUP>-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images were acquired alternatively using spin- and gradient-echo echo plannar imaging (GESE EPI) sequence with 5% CO2 gas inhalation in normal ( n = 5) and acute stroke rats ( n = 10). Dynamic relative changes in cerebrovascular volume (CBV), microvascular volume (MVV), and vascular size index (VSI) were assessed from regions of interest (ROIs) delineated by the percent decrease of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). The baseline CBV was not affected by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) whereas the baseline MVV in ischemic areas was significantly lower than that in the rest of the brain and correlated with ADC. Vasoreactivity to hypercapnic challenge was considerably attenuated in the entire ipsilesional hemisphere including normal ADC regions, in which unsolicited, spreading depression-associated increases of CBV and MVV were observed. The lesion-dependent inhomogeneity in baseline MVV indicates the effective perfusion reserve for accurately delineating the true ischemic damage while the cascade of neuronal depolarization is probably responsible for the hemispherically lateralized changes in overall neurovascular physiology. </P>

        뇌 자기공명영상에서 Quiet-T2 기법을 이용한 소음감소의 유용성

        뇌 자기공명영상(Magnetic Resornance Imaging; MRI)에서 검사 중 발생되는 소음을 줄이기 위한 기법으로 경사파형을 변경한 Quiet T2-weighted Turbo Spin-Echo(이하 Q-T2)와 일반적으로 사용되는 T2-weighted Turbo Spin-Echo(이하 T2) 영상의 소음수준 및 영상의 질을 비교하여 그 유용성을 알아보고자 하였다. 3.0T MR 기기로 뇌 MR 검사를 받은 60명(남자 29명, 여자 31명, 평균 연령 60.1세)의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. Q-T2와 T2 각각의 영상에서 소음 및 심박동수를 측정하였다. 정량적 분석은 Q-T2와 T2의 SNR, CNR, SIR 값을 측정한 뒤 독립표본 T검정을 이용하여 통계적 분석을 하였다. 정성적 분석은 Q-T2와 T2의 전체적인 영상의 질에 대하여 육안으로 평가하였다. 평가는 5점 척도로서 우수(excellent) 5점, 양호(good) 4점, 보통(fair) 3점, 불량(poor) 2점, 평가불가(unacceptable) 1점으로 평가하였다. Q-T2와 T2 검사 중 평균소음과 peak소음은 Q-T2가 기존 T2에 비해 각각 15dBA, 10dBA 감소하였다. 또한 각각 의 검사 중 120초 동안 심박동수의 평균값은 Q-T2에서 더 낮은 값으로 나타났지만 통계적인 유의성은 없었다. 정량적 분석의 결과 CNR과 SIR은 유의한 차이가 없었으며, SNR은 Q-T2가 더 낮은 평균값을 보임으로서 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 정성적 분석은 59개의 Q-T2와 T2 영상의 질이 동일하게 우수(excellent) 5점으로 평가되었으며, 1개의 영상에서 모션 아티팩트로 인해 양호(good) 4점으로 평가되었다. Q-T2는 기존의 T2와 같이 검사시간 및 진단의 정확도는 동일하지만 소음을 효과적으로 감소시킬 수 있으며, 이로인하여 환자 편의를 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. Acoustic noise during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the main source for patient discomfort. we report our preliminary experience with this technique in neuroimaging with regard to subjective and objective noise levels and image quality. 60 patients(29 males, 31 females, average age of 60.1) underwent routine brain MRI with 3.0 Tesla (MAGNETOM Tim Trio; Siemens, Germany) system and 12-channel head coil. Q-T2 and T2 sequence were performed. Measurement of sound pressure levels (SPL) and heart rate on Q-T2 and T2 was performed respectively. Quantitative analysis was carried out by measuring the SNR, CNR, and SIR values of Q-T2, T2 and a statistical analysis was performed using independent sample T-test. Qualitative analysis was evaluated by the eyes for the overall quality image of Q-T2 and T2. A 5-point evaluation scale was used, including excellent(5), good(4), fair(3), poor(2), and unacceptable(1). The average noise and peak noise decreased by 15dBA and 10dBA on T2 and Q-T2 test. Also, the average value of heartbeat rate was lower in Q-T2 for 120 seconds in each test, but there was no statistical significance. The quantitative analysis showed that there was no significant difference between CNR and SIR, and there was a significant difference (p<0.05) as SNR had a lower average value on Q-T2. According to the qualitative analysis, the overall quality image of 59 case T2 and Q-T2 was evaluated as excellent at 5 points, and 1 case was evaluated as good at 4 points due to a motion artifact. Q-T2 is a promising technique for acoustic noise reduction and improved patient comfort.

        Diamine-cored tetrastilbene compounds as solution-processable hole transport materials for stable organic light emitting diodes

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A series of diamine-cored tetrastilbene (DTS) derivatives bearing various aliphatic and aromatic substituents was designed and synthesized for use as solution-processed hole transport layers (HTLs) in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). The chemical structures of the DTS derivatives were strategically designed to increase solubility in organic solvents as well as to avoid self-crystallization, and thus ensure a stable morphology under Joule heating while maintaining efficient hole transport capabilities. The five DTS derivatives, composed of different conjugation structures, yielded reasonably good hole transport behavior with a marginal charge carrier mobility of ∼10<SUP>−5</SUP> cm<SUP>2</SUP>V<SUP>−1</SUP>s<SUP>−1</SUP>, which is similar to that of vacuum-deposited <I>N,N′</I>-bis(1-naphthyl)-<I>N,N′</I>-diphenyl-1,1′-biphenyl-4,4′-diamine (NPB). Due to the high glass transition temperatures of the DTS derivatives, this satisfactory charge transport behavior and smooth surface morphology were conserved up to 180 °C. Green OLEDs were prepared using tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq<SUB>3</SUB>):C545T as the emission layer, and the OLED performances of the solution-processed DTS HTLs and the vacuum-deposited NPB HTL were compared. A high luminance efficiency of 11.5 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP> was obtained for one solution-processed DTS HTL, which exceeds that of the NPB HTL (10.01 cd A<SUP>−1</SUP>). Furthermore, the DTS HTLs enabled a stable OLED operation, with double the accelerated half-life of the NPB-based device.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A series of diamine-cored tetrastilbene (DTS) derivatives was designed and synthesized. </LI> <LI> The DTS derivatives are used as solution-processed hole transport layers (HTLs) in OLEDs. </LI> <LI> A high luminance efficiency of 11.5 cd/A was obtained for one solution-processed DTS HTL. </LI> <LI> The DTS HTLs enabled a stable OLED operation. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Gadoxetic acid 조영증강 자기공명영상에서 숙임각 변화에 따른 국소 간종양 검출능 비교

        Gadoxetic acid (GA) 조영증강 자기공명(MR) 영상에서 일반적으로 많이 이용되는 숙임각(flip angle, FA) 11°와 비교하여 FA 30°를 이용한 3분, 10분 및 15분 영상에서 국소성 간 병변 검출 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 3.0T MR 기기로 GA 조영증강지연기 MR영상을 시행 받은 69명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 대상 환자는 간세포암 23명과 전이암 12명으로 총 35명(남성 23, 여성12, 평균연령 60.4세)이었다. GA 주입 후 3분, 10분, 15분의 영상에서 각각 FA 11˚와 30˚ 영상을 획득하였다. 각각의 영상에서 정량적평가와 정성적평가를 한 뒤 독립표본 T검정을 이용하여 통계적 분석을 하였다. 정량적 평가와 정성적 평가 모두 조영제 주입 후 3분과 10분 영상에서 FA 30° 영상이 FA 11° 영상보다 약간 우수하였으나 통계적 유의성은 없었다. 그러나 15분 영상에서는 FA 30° 영상이 FA 11° 영상보다 통계적으로 유의하게 우수하였다(p To study the differences of focal liver lesion image detection at 3 minute, 10 minute and 15 minute time points on gadoxetic acid (GA)'s enhanced MR imaging with a flip angle (FA) of 30° compared with a 11°. The subjects were 69 patients evaluated with GA enhanced MR imaging with 3.0T MR scanner. The pa-tients are total 35(23 men and 7 women at the mean age of 60.4 years), hepatocellular carcinoma(23) and metastsis(12) except for normal, cyst and hemangioma. After GA was injected, FA 11˚ and 30˚ images were obtained at 3 minute, 10 minute and 15 minute time points respectively. After quantitative and qual-itative assessment of each image was done, statistical analysis was performed by using the independent sample T-test. From both quantitative and qualitative assessment of 3 minute and 10 minute MR images after the in-jection of GA, FA 30° images was found to be superior than FA 11°, but there were no statistical significance.
