Vol.41 No.-

The Seokdang Museum of Dong-A University has 184 relics excavated from Choryang Waegwanyo in Busan and can be divided into porcelain and pottery. Most of the porcelain flows are small pieces, but through observation, features such as mushiyu decoration on the base surface and spiral gate decoration on the inside of the heel can be found, and the model is also limited. As for the Yodogu style, porcelain Gapbal(A large bowl for baking pottery), Gapbal with ventilation holes of various shapes and sizes, etc., which are difficult to find in the 17th century Gyeongnam area where the Choryang Waegwanyo was operated, were observed, and various types of dojimi were also used. These points can be compared with the manufacturing technology found in the Buncheong-sagi kiln, and in the case of the white clay, this is a technique found in the kilns in Chunghyo-dong, Gwangju and the kilns in Bunwon-ri, Gwangju. In addition, the kilns that were operated in the Gyeongnam region of Busan during the period of operation of Choryang Waegwanyo were in the stage of mass production, and the diversity of manufacturing techniques shown in Choryang Waegwanyo is difficult to find. This is understood to be a variety of techniques attempted by the various efforts of the fraudulents who served as Choryang Waegwanyo in Busan at the time. Among the records of the closing family documents of Tsushima, Japan, < Eojomulgong(御誂物控) > and < Eojumunlyu(御注文㨨) > confirm orders for ceramics sent to Waegwanyo in Busan at that time, and the relics excavated from Choryang Waegwanyo in Busan can be compared with sample drawings from these documents. Although most of them are pottery, the similarity of the deformity that can be seen in these literature data is thought to have been borrowed from several production techniques in order to improve the completeness of the order. However, in Japan at that time, as a period when a unique porcelain culture blossomed, various pottery liquors were born, and the demand group also expanded. Because Waegwanyo in Busan focused on the perfect implementation of custom-made products required by Tsushima, the development or creation of new technologies had inherent limitations that could not be expected. Eventually, the Choryang Waegwanyo in Busan was obsessed with the ceramics and technology of Joseon, and could not keep up with the rapidly changing trend of the ceramic industry, leading to a waste of life. After the end of the year, it seems that technology exchanges were made in the kiln sites in Busan and Gyeongnam areas and in the kiln sites operated in Daema-do, such as the decoration on the inside of the heel or the decoration of the spiral gate on the inside of the heel, but it could not keep up with the rapidly changing trend of the ceramic industry at the time and eventually disappeared.

Diagnostic imaging features of traumatic subgaleal hematoma in a dog: a case report

Juyeong Kim,Changhui Han,Youngwon Lee,Hojung Choi The Korean Society of Veterinary Science Vol.64 No.1

Subgaleal hematomas are accumulation of blood between periosteum and galea aponeurosis. A 2-year-old male Chihuahua was presented with a severe head swelling after trauma. Radiography and computed tomography (CT) showed a massive swelling encircling the entire calvarial vault, extending toward the cervical neck and crossing the suture line. It was heterogeneously, mild hyperdense fluid to soft tissue attenuating with contrast enhancement on CT images. On day 4, physical and imaging examination showed resolution of the calvarial swelling. Subgaleal hematoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis when there is a massive soft tissue swelling over the skull on physical and imaging examinations.

Effects of Semi-Squat Exercise on Joint Position Sense and Balance to the Types of Support Surface in Hemiplegic Patients

Vol.34 No.5

Purpose: This study investigates the effect of 60° semi-squat exercises according to three different types of support surfaces. The effects were examined on joint position sense and balancing ability using stable and unstable surfaces in patients afflicted with post-stroke hemiplegia. Methods: Subjects were instructed to perform three sets of 60° semi-squat exercises according to the characteristics of the support surface conditions. The three ground states were bilateral stable surface (BSS), nonaffected side unstable surface (NUS), and bilateral unstable surface (BUS). The joint position sense, characteristics of body sway, and dynamic balance were analyzed according to floor conditions before and after the experiment. A balance-pad (50 cm W×41 cm L×6 cm H; Alcan Airex AG, Sins, Switzerland) was used for the unstable floor. Results: The 60° semi-squat exercises applied to hemiplegic patients showed the highest statistical significance in joint position sense in the NUS group, and Timed Up and Go test (TUG) in the BUS group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Functional training using an unstable surface can be applied as a meaningful intervention method for improving the balance and joint position sense of stroke patients.

Increase in stress on infrastructure facilities due to natural disasters

Vol.20 No.2

The services of infrastructure are often compromised in a postdisaster situation. This could be due to a direct physical impact on the infrastructure or due to a cascading impact resulting from reduced services of the supporting infrastructure. The reduced infrastructure services are unable to adequately meet the postdisaster community needs. Therefore, infrastructure facilities are likely to be operated with high stress on their capacities above the allowable stress (i.e. designed capacities) for meeting the services required. The system is unable to sustain the required serviceability level without the infusion of additional capacities when the stress level exceeds the limit stress. For example, after Haiti’s devastating earthquake, disrupted utility services, limited road networks, and the lack of civic governance influenced the capacity of all essential service providers. Furthermore, the earthquake-impacted hospitals had limited resources such as patient beds, medical staff, medical supplies and equipment for meeting the increased health needs of the community. As a result, the hospital experienced increased levels of stress related to services as they were unable to adequately meet the community health needs without external assistance from NGOs or other entities. Therefore, understanding the stress level in postdisaster infrastructure is critical for community recovery. This paper presents a new framework to (i) explore and investigate varying functional stress level in infrastructure under various disaster scenarios and (ii) develop strategies for alleviating increased stress levels in order to facilitate the recovery process. The research framework is explained using a hypothetical situation focusing on the operation of power facilities in a postdisaster situation. The proposed unique approach enables the development of sustainable mitigation strategies by relieving the stress level in critical infrastructure while ensuring to meet recovery demands at an acceptable level.
