The purpose of this study is to analyze the consumer preference disposition for the fruit soju for the constant growth of the fruit Soju industry. The conjoint analysis is used as a study method. It is a representative method to analyze consumers’ utilities. It is a technique to predict consumers’ choices for goods by measuring their utilities for each trait of the goods instead of evaluating the product itself. The partial value and the importance of main traits of fruit Soju consumers felt are apprehended through this conjoint analysis, and the market segmentation is conducted based on those values. Results show that consumers prefer a higher sugar fruit Soju with the current alcohol degree. Also, consumers are shown to prefer the soju contained in a glass bottle without carbonic acid as the current one. Furthermore, as a result of market segmentation, it is revealed both men and women prefer a higher sugar content, and women prefer a lower alcohol degree than men.

The aims of the present study were to test the task-induced vocabulary learning involvement load hypothesis in Korean university context and investigate whether the tasks actually induce the expected different levels of involvement load. A total of 75 English majors in a local university were randomly assigned to three task conditions that involved different levels of involvement: answering true-false questions after reading a glossed text, completing a gapped text using exact words from a glossary, and completing a gapped text affixing words from a glossary. On completing the tasks, the students were asked to take two post vocabulary tests and complete a survey designed to measure the difference in the amount of “evaluation” occurring cognitively during the performance of the task. Despite the trend that higher involvement led to more vocabulary learning, the results of a one-way analysis of variance showed no statistically significant differences in vocabulary retention among the three groups. On the other hand, the results of survey indicated that the group with the lowest involvement load achieved significantly lower scores, suggesting that the three tasks tapped different levels of vocabulary learning involvement. The theoretical and pedagogical implications of the study are discussed.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in many commercial products may interfere with the normal functioning of the endocrine system and are unsafe because of their cumulative effect on the human body. However, little is known about the effects of combinations of endocrine-disrupting chemicals in humans. Methoxychlor and bisphenol A are toxic to male reproductive organs. Therefore, we studied the effects of methoxychlor and bisphenol A on male reproductive function. Male mice were divided into four treatment groups: control, 400 mg methoxychlor, 1 mg bisphenol A, and 400 mg methoxychlor + 1 mg bisphenol A/kg/day. Methoxychlor and bisphenol A were dissolved in sesame oil and acetone and administered orally for 4 weeks. After administration, the weight and histological changes in the testicles and epididymis, sperm count and health were observed biochemical tests and whole blood counts were performed. The results showed that the mice in the bisphenol A and methoxychlor + bisphenol A groups gained more weight than those in the control and methoxychlor group. The weights of the testes and epididymis were higher in the experimental groups than in the control. Sperm motility and progression were significantly reduced in the bisphenol A and methoxychlor + bisphenol A groups. Histological observation showed a reduced number of sperm, smaller seminiferous tubules, and destroyed lumen in the methoxychlor + bisphenol A group compared to the other groups. In conclusion, our study showed that methoxychlor and bisphenol A destroy male reproductive tissues and decrease sperm quality.

Bertolotti’s syndrome is the part of lumbosacral transitional vertebra and is a congenital anomaly of the axial spine. The syndrome is associated with changes in the sacrum or iliac crest and secondary arthritis and is often mistaken for ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The mechanism of pain in this disease is unclear, and treatments have not been accurately established. Here, we report two cases of Bertolotti’s syndrome in patients with severe back pain who were initially suspected to have AS and required interventional procedures. The two young adult patients developed symptoms similar to those of inflammatory back pain, and their symptoms did not improve with conventional treatment alone. Both patients underwent interventional management, and the symptoms improved. It may be clinically helpful to confirm the presence of Bertolotti’s syndrome in patients with suspected AS, and interventional therapy may be required in some cases.
The Role of IT Professionals’ Attitudes in Open Innovation Processes

Recently, an innovation paradigm is shifting from a closed to an open innovation model, characterized by the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge not only to accelerate internal innovation but also to expand the markets for external use of innovation. However, the Not-Invented-Here (NIH), and Not-Sold-Here (NSH) or Only-Use-Here (OUH) syndromes are the most commonly faced problems in open innovation processes. Therefore, the aim of this study is not only to identify the factors that influence NIH and NSH/OUH attitudes in open innovation processes based on motivation theory with perceived organizational fairness and commitment, but also to investigate their impacts on NIH and NSH/OUH attitudes through an empirical research. The research model was analyzed with Visual PLS using survey data collected from IT professionals in Korea. The findings indicated that IT professionals’ perceived organizational fairness is negatively affected to NIH attitudes in open innovation process.

Background: Ginsenoside Rg3, a derivative of steroidal saponins abundant in ginseng, has a range ofeffects on cancer cells, including anti-cell proliferation and anti-inflammation activity. Here, we investigatetwo long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), STXBP5-AS1 and RFX3-AS1, which are hypomethylated andhypermethylated in the promoter region by Rg3 in MCF-7 cancer cells. Methods: The lncRNAs epigenetically regulated by Rg3 were mined using methylation array analysis. Theeffect of the lncRNAs on the apoptosis and proliferation of MCF-7 cells was monitored in the presence ofRg3 or Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) extract after deregulating the lncRNAs. The expression of the lncRNAsand their target genes was examined using qPCR and Western blot analysis. The association between theexpression of the target genes and the survival rate of breast cancer patients was analyzed using theKaplan-Meier Plotter platform. Results: STXBP5-AS1 and RFX3-AS1 exhibited anti- and pro-proliferation effects, respectively, in thecancer cells, and the effects of Rg3 and KRG extract on apoptosis and cell proliferation were weakenedafter deregulating the lncRNAs. Of the genes located close to STXBP5-AS1 and RFX3-AS1 on the chromosome,STXBP5, GRM1, RFX3, and SLC1A1 were regulated by the lncRNAs on the RNA and protein level. Breast cancer patients that exhibited a higher expression of the target genes of the lncRNAs had a highermetastasis-free survival rate. Conclusion: The current study is the first to identify lncRNAs that are regulated by the presence of Rg3and KRG extract and that subsequently contribute to inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells.
