교통사고는 사회·경제적인 성장과 함께 비례적으로 늘어가고 있는 도시 내 재해 중 하나이다. 이런 사회적 문제를 예방하기 위한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔고 그에 따른 해결책이 제시되고 있어 사고 건수는 줄어들지만 그 규모는 더욱 더 커져가고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 진주시의 교통사고를 데이터 마이닝 기법과 GIS를 연계하여 교통사고를 시공간적으로 분석하고 해당 지역 특성과 연계하여 교통사고를 분석하였다. 그 결과 진주시의 교통사고는 3개의 공간군집으로 형성되었으며, 중심상권지역이 가장 큰 군집으로 분석되었다. 또한 3개의 교통사고 군집에서 가장 많이 발생한 교통사고유형은 차대사람 사고보다 차대차 사고가 더 많이 발생하였다.

The β -Ga₂O₃ (beta-gallium oxide) is one of the most promising candidate materials for the future power and RF (radio frequency) devices. The Al₂O₃ (aluminum oxide) is widely adopted as the gate dielectric layer, which is mandatory for developing the Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) based on Ga₂O₃. Therefore, the theoretical investigation on the properties of the Al₂O₃/ β -Ga O interface is required. We have generated several atomistic models for the Al₂O₃ / β -Ga₂O₃ interface, whose structural parameters are consistent with the experimental findings. From the electronic band structure based on the density-functional theory (DFT) calculation, it is confirmed that the generated interface structures are physically stable. The band offsets between the Ga₂O₃ channel and the Al₂O₃ dielectric layer are calculated for various interface structures. For both the conduction band and the valence band, the Al₂O₃ / β -Ga₂O₃ interface provides sufficiently large band offsets, which makes it attractive for the MOSFET application. The point defects in the interface structure play a critical role in determining the device characteristics. The formation energies and transition levels of various point defects are calculated by using the DFT. It is found that the Ga-, O-, and Al- vacancies have the energy levels close to the conduction band minimum. It is expected that those vacancy defects act as the electron traps at the interface.
Effective Delivery of Exogenous Compounds to the Optic Nerve by Intravitreal Injection of Liposome

Purpose: To improve the treatment efficiency of optic nerve diseases by delivering therapeutic materials to the optic nerve directly. Methods: We tried to optimize liposomal composition to deliver a payload to the optic nerve efficiently when it is injected intravitreally. After loading dexamethasone into this liposome, we tested the therapeutic effect of liposomes in this treatment using a murine model of ischemic optic neuropathy. Results: Our optimized liposome can deliver its payload to the optic nerve more efficiently than other tested compositions. Moreover, dexamethasone-loaded liposomes had a significant therapeutic effect in a murine model of ischemic optic neuropathy. Conclusions: Here, we demonstrate the optimal composition of liposomes that could efficiently deliver intravitreally injected exogenous compounds to the optic nerve. We expect that the intravitreal injection of liposomes with the suggested composition would improve the delivery efficacy of therapeutic compounds to the optic nerve.
Cloning, Expression, and Purification of a Lipase from Psychrotrophic Pseudomonas mandelii

내냉성 세균인 Pseudomonas mandelii로부터 lipase 유전자(lipT)를 클로닝하고 염기서열을 분석하였다. 열린해독틀(open reading frame)은 1,686 bp로 구성되어 있고, 562개의 아미노산을 코딩한다. 서열분석 결과 많은 세린 효소에서 발견되는 Gly-X-Ser-X-Gly 모티프가 존재한다(Gly-His-Ser-Leu-Gly). 재조합 LipT 단백질은 대장균에서 주로 inclusion body 형태로 발현되었다. 니켈 친화성 크로마토그라피 방법으로 LipT 단백질을 분리하였으며 소량의 LipT 단백질이 refold 되었다. 이 효소는 p-nitrophenyl butyrate (C4)과 p-nitrophenyl octanoate (C8)에 대해 기질 특이성을 나타내었다. A gene encoding a lipase, lipT, was cloned from the psychrotrophic bacterium Pseudomonas mandelii and sequenced. An open reading frame of 1,686 bp was found that encodes a polypeptide consisting of 562 amino acid residues. Sequence analysis revealed a Gly-His-Ser-Leu-Gly sequence, which matches the consensus Gly-X-Ser-X-Gly motif conserved among lipolytic enzymes. The recombinant LipT protein was predominantly expressed as inclusion bodies in Escherichia coli and subsequently purified by nickel-chelate affinity chromatography. A small fraction of LipT was refolded, and the subsequent LipT exhibited substrate preferences for p-nitrophenyl butyrate (C4) and p-nitrophenyl octanoate (C8).

The wet granulation method was successfully used to manufacture amorphous telmisartan tablets (CNU) for comparison with the spray-drying method, used for Pritor^TM. Drug crystallinity in the tablet was characterized using differential scanning calorimetry and powder Xray diffraction, and pharmaceutical properties of the tablets such as hardness, friability,water absorption, and in vitro dissolution in pH 1.2, 4.0, 6.8 and 7.5 were characterized. Especially with regard to the water absorption feature, the CNU tablets showed better performance by maintaining their original structures and by absorbing less water. Since both Pritor^TM and CNU tablets had similar physical properties of crystallinity, hardness, friability, and > 50 f_2 value in an in vitro dissolution study, the bioequivalence of CNU tablets should be analyzed in a future in vivo study. Therefore, telmisartan tablets can be produced using a more economical and easier method than that used to produce Pritor^TM tablets.

The present study is the first one to investigate the impacts of depression and somatization on the disease severity and quality of life (QoL) in patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). The Korean version of National Institutes of Health (NIH)- Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (CPSI) for severity of CP/CPPS. Korean version of Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) for depression, Korean version of Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15) for somatization, and Korean version of EuroQol Questionnaire-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D)- [(EQ-5D utility index and visual analog scale (EQ-5D VAS)] for QoL, were administered. Eighty patients were enrolled. The NIH-CPSI total scores were significantly higher in those with depression (25.3%, p=0.01) or somatization (23.2%, p=0.03) than in those without. These trends toward significantly negative influence of depression and somatic symptoms on QoL were also observed. Our preliminary results indicate that depression and somatization may have negative influence on the symptom severity and QoL in patients with CP/CPPS. However, adequately-powered and more well-designed studies are mandatory to prove our results.
