        Constitutive Model of Q345 Steel at Different Intermediate Strain Rates

        Structural elements of steel frame experience very high strain rates in the progressive collapse, and hence their constitutive properties do not remain constant but change significantly with time. Quasi-static and dynamic tensile tests of Q345 steel were performed to study the dynamic tensile behavior within the range of 0.001 to 330/s strain rates by INSTRON and Zwick/Roell HTM5020 testing machine. A three dimensional finite element model is developed using LS-DYNA to extrapolate the true stress-strain relationship after necking of Q345 steel. The hardening behavior of Q345 steel after the onset of necking is predicted with the Ludwik constitutive equation at quasi-static strain rates and with the Voce constitutive equation at higher strain rates, in which the strain hardening parameters are obtained by trial and error until the numerical results agree well with the experimental results. The linear combination of Hollomon and Voce (H/V-R) model is proved to be capable of predicting the transition of hardening rate with the increasing strain rate for Q345 steel although there is a little deviation between the experimental and fitting results. In this study, an empirical constitutive model is developed by introducing the Wagoner rate law into the H/V-R model to improve its precision in predicting the dynamic behavior of Q345 steel.

        Exploring lncRNA Expression Patterns in Patients With Hypertrophied Ligamentum Flavum

        Objective: Hypertrophy ligamentum flavum (LFH) is a common cause of lumbar spinal stenosis, resulting in significant disability and morbidity. Although long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been associated with various biological processes and disorders, their involvement in LFH remains not fully understood.Methods: Human ligamentum flavum samples were analyzed using lncRNA sequencing followed by validation through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. To explore the potential biological functions of differentially expressed lncRNA-associated genes, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses were performed. We also studied the impact of lncRNA PARD3-AS1 on the progression of LFH <i>in vitro</i>.Results: In the LFH tissues when compared to that in the nonhypertrophic ligamentum flavum (LFN) tissues, a total of 1,091 lncRNAs exhibited differential expression, with 645 upregulated and 446 downregulated. Based on GO analysis, the differentially expressed transcripts primarily participated in metabolic processes, organelles, nuclear lumen, cytoplasm, protein binding, nucleic acid binding, and transcription factor activity. Moreover, KEGG pathway analysis indicated that the differentially expressed lncRNAs were associated with the hippo signaling pathway, nucleotide excision repair, and nuclear factor-kappa B signaling pathway. The expression of PARD3-AS1, RP11-430G17.3, RP1-193H18.3, and H19 was confirmed to be consistent with the sequencing analysis. Inhibition of PARD3-AS1 resulted in the suppression of fibrosis in LFH cells, whereas the overexpression of PARD3-AS1 promoted fibrosis in LFH cells <i>in vitro</i>.Conclusion: This study identified distinct expression patterns of lncRNAs that are linked to LFH, providing insights into its underlying mechanisms and potential prognostic and therapeutic interventions. Notably, PARD3-AS1 appears to play a significant role in the pathophysiology of LFH.

        Diagnostic value of alcoholic liver disease (ALD)/nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) index combined with γ-glutamyl transferase in differentiating ALD and NAFLD

        Background/Aims: This study aimed to verify the reliability of the alcoholic liver disease (ALD)/nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) index (ANI) for distinguishing ALD in patients with hepatic steatosis from NAFLD, and to investigate whether ANI combined with γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT) would enhance the accuracy of diagnosis in China. Methods: A hundred thirty-nine cases of fatty liver disease (FLD) were divided into two groups of ALD and NAFLD. The ANI was calculated with an online calculator. All indicators and ANI values were analyzed using statistical methods. Results: ANI was significantly higher in patients with ALD than in those with NAFLD (7.11 ± 5.77 vs. .3.09 ± 3.89, p < 0.001). With a cut-off value of .0.22, the sensitivity, specificity, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of diagnosed ALD cases was 87.1%, 92.5%, and 0.934 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.879 to 0.969), respectively. The corresponding values for aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/alanine transaminase (ALT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and GGT were 75.29%, 72.94%, and 0.826 (95% CI, 0.752 to 0.885); 94.34%, 83.02%, and 0.814 (95% CI, 0.739 to 0.875) and 80.23%, 79.25%, and 0.815 (95% CI, 0.740 to 0.876), respectively. ANI AUROC was significantly higher than the AST/ ALT, MCV, or GGT AUROCs (all p < 0.001), moreover, ANI showed better diagnostic performance. The combination of ANI and GGT showed a better AUROC than ANI alone (0.976 vs. 0.934, p = 0.016). The difference in AUROCs between AST/ALT, MCV, and GGT was not statistically significant (all p > 0.05). Conclusions: ANI can help distinguish ALD from NAFLD with high accuracy; when ANI was combined with GGT, its effectiveness improved further.

        Influence of Ionic Strength on the Deposition of Metal–Phenolic Networks

        <P>Metal–phenolic networks (MPNs) are a versatile class of self-assembled materials that are able to form functional thin films on various substrates with potential applications in areas including drug delivery and catalysis. Different metal ions (e.g., Fe<SUP>III</SUP>, Cu<SUP>II</SUP>) and phenols (e.g., tannic acid, gallic acid) have been investigated for MPN film assembly; however, a mechanistic understanding of the thermodynamics governing MPN formation remains largely unexplored. To date, MPNs have been deposited at low ionic strengths (<5 mM), resulting in films with typical thicknesses of ∼10 nm, and it is still unclear how a bulk complexation reaction results in homogeneous thin films when a substrate is present. Herein we explore the influence of ionic strength (0–2 M NaCl) on the conformation of MPN precursors in solution and how this determines the final thickness and morphology of MPN films. Specifically, the film thickness increases from 10 nm in 0 M NaCl to 12 nm in 0.5 M NaCl and 15 nm in 1 M NaCl, after which the films grow rougher rather than thicker. For example, the root-mean-square roughness values of the films are constant below 1 M NaCl at 1.5 nm; in contrast, the roughness is 3 nm at 1 M NaCl and increases to 5 nm at 2 M NaCl. Small-angle X-ray scattering and molecular dynamics simulations allow for comparisons to be made with chelated metals and polyelectrolyte thin films. For example, at a higher ionic strength (2 M NaCl), sodium ions shield the galloyl groups of tannic acid, allowing them to extend away from the Fe<SUP>III</SUP> center and interact with other MPN complexes in solution to form thicker and rougher films.         With the development of network technology and the popularization of mobile terminals, the research and development of M-Learning resources based on iPad-user interaction technology, namely e-textbooks, has attracted increasing attention in global educative reforms. On the basis of the research on iPad’s user-machine interaction technology, this paper takes the bilingual e-textbooks development of The Kazak Alphabet as an example. It proposes basic steps and framework of the research and development and summarizes the key interaction technology and the ways of realization of preparing, developing, packaging and publishing in the hope that it can provide the foundation for the development of M-Learning and bilingual education.

This study aims to explore ways to improve the teaching level of nursing education. By applying the PDCA management method in the nursing education teaching process, the teaching process of the nursing professional course is divided into the development of professional teaching plan (Plan), specific education and teaching implementation (Do), the formation of the teaching process, the feedback of the teaching effect (Check) and the revision of the nursing talent training program (Action) four stages, through the continuous re-entry of the PDCA cycle to achieve the optimization of education and teaching quality, Practice shows that the application of PDCA management method improves the teaching ability of the nursing professional teachers team, and also greatly promotes the improvement of the quality of nursing teaching and strengthens the quality of nursing personnel training.

        A New Approach to Produce Resveratrol by Enzymatic Bioconversion

        An enzymatic reaction system was developed and optimized for bioconversion of resveratrol from glucose. Liquid enzyme extracts were prepared from Alternaria sp. MG1, an endophytic fungus from grape, and used directly or after immobilization with sodium alginate. When the enzyme solution was used, efficient production of resveratrol was found within 120 min in a manner that was pH-, reaction time-, enzyme amount-, substrate type-, and substrate concentration-dependent. After the optimization experiments using the response surface methodology, the highest value of resveratrol production (224.40 ug/l) was found under the conditions of pH 6.84, 0.35 g/l glucose, 0.02 mg/l coenzyme A, and 0.02 mg/l ATP. Immobilized enzyme extracts could keep high production of resveratrol during recycling use for two to five times. The developed system indicated a potential approach to resveratrol biosynthesis independent of plants and fungal cell growth, and provided a possible way to produce resveratrol within 2 h, the shortest period needed for biosynthesis of resveratrol so far.

        Enhancement of polyphenol content and antioxidant capacity of oat (Avena nuda L.) bran by cellulase treatment

        In this work, cellulase was used to treat with oat bran, and its effect on the total polyphenol content and phenolic profiles were investigated, with heating-only treatment as the control. Antioxidant capacity of the phenolic extracts from oat bran was assessed by scavenging of 2,2′-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6- sulphonic acid), 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical cation, the ferric reducing antioxidant power, and protein oxidative damage protection assays. As a result, cellulase treatment significantly increased the total phenolic content, total antioxidant capacity, and the ability on the protection of protein from oxidative damage of the oat bran compared with heating-only treatment. Furthermore, cellulase treatment significantly increased availability of most phenolic compounds, except of gallic acid, such as caffeic acid by 97 % (5.33 vs. 10.51 μg g−1), vanillin by 28 % (3.32 vs. 4.24 μg g−1), p-coumaric acid by 105 % (5.55 vs. 11.35 μg g−1), and ferulic acid by 914 % (12.33 vs. 124.03 μg g−1). However, heating-only treatment had no significant influence on the five detected phenolic compounds. Therefore, the study revealed that cellulase treatment would produce polyphenol-rich oat products with increased antioxidant activity.
