Buckling of single-walled carbon nanotubes with and without defects
Jozef Bocko,Pavol Lengvarský 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.4
This paper studies the buckling behavior of simply-simply supported Single-walled Carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with and without defects. The buckling of carbon nanotubes without defects was investigated using the Finite element method (FEM) and analytical treatment and that of carbon nanotubes with defects was studied only by FEM. The carbon nanotubes were modeled as beams and shells. Computations showed that beam elements in the given form provided varying results as shells in their numerical or analytical manner for a small aspect ratio. The defects resulted from the removal of randomly determined carbon atoms and beam elements connected to the nodes. The increasing number of defects decreased the critical buckling force of SWCNTs. The decrease in the critical buckling force was almost the same for SWCNTs with the same diameter but with different chirality.
John Amos Comenius and his Laudation of Tolerance
Jozef Matula 한국외국어대학교(글로벌캠퍼스) 동유럽발칸연구소 2011 동유럽발칸연구 Vol.26 No.1
The article deals with philosophical, anthropological and theological foundations of Comenius´ concept of tolerance. The work of John Amos Comenius manifests a philosophical attempt to achieve an agreement on the true doctrine without submerging cultural and political differences. Grasping the world as a whole, an effort to integrate all parts of the universe in one unit becomes the main focus of Comenius´ work. Especially his ideas about mutual cooperation and peace among races, nations and religions show deep philosophical search at the turn of the Renaissance and modernity. For Comenius, true tolerance cannot exist without true friendship, love, honest cooperation and social solidarity. In the middle of all the conflicts in the 17th century, his conception of tolerance would solve not only the problems of his own time but would also head towards the strenghtening of all positive values of humanity, individual as well as social, and towards the universal reformation of everything.
Determination of indium in liquid crystal displays by flame atomic absorption spectrometry
Jozef Uhrovcík,Juraj Lesný 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1
The determination of In(III) in indium tin oxide (ITO) targets sample by flame atomic absorptionspectrometry is reported. The relevant sample was at first decomposed by means of aqua regia digestiontechnique and then analysed. The conventional air-acetylene flamewas used for direct analysis. Itwas notrequired to use matrix-matched standard or technique of standard additions in the process of calibrationand measurement. The Beer’s law obeyed the concentration range up to 10mg L 1. Limit of detection(3s criterion) reached the value of 0.4mgL 1. Sensitivity of determination expressed as characteristicconcentrationwas equal to 0.36mgL 1. Repeatability of analysis (n = 5) did not exceed 1% for analyticaldetermination of sample in question. The method was successfully applied to In(III) leachable contentmeasurement in the ITO targets sample and the result is in very good agreement with this independentlyobtained by reference method – inductively coupled plasma with atomic emission spectrometry.

Path to Morality: Two Decades after the Fall of Communism
Jozef Matula 한국외국어대학교(글로벌캠퍼스) 동유럽발칸연구소 2011 동유럽발칸연구 Vol.28 No.1
The purpose of this paper is to present a reflection on the social situation in Central Europe, particularly in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The author did not focus on the sociological, political or economical situation of contemporary societies; the author dealt with the phenomenon of the current crisis as well as the hopes of intellectual elites in the above mentioned countries. Both these Central European countries have gone through a difficult period of economic and political transition, which is sometimes associated with disillusion among intellectuals. This phenomenon is linked with unfulfilled expectations of the legacy of the Velvet revolution. As a significant and specific feature of Central European identity we can see the revolt against bureaucracy and totality in many ways, especially through language and literature which – by means of bizarre stories – points to the affliction and destructivity of the impersonal machineries of our times (Hašek, Hrabal, Kundera, Havel, Tatarka). At the same time we see the struggle for human freedom, dignity and moral values which have always been present in the history of the small states in Central Europe. The re‐discovery and re‐evaluation of intellectual history serves as an inspiration when dealing with today’s social problems in the global world and at the same time gives hope that these countries will not succumb to nationalism, chauvinism and moral relativism.
