Was European Integration Nice while It Lasted?
Miroslav N. Jovanović 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 2013 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.28 No.1
The principal goal of integration in Europe has always been the safeguarding of peace through economic integration. The European Union (EU) has overseen splendid economic achievements. A sign of that great success has been the EU’s continuous enlargement. The eurozone is the crown jewel in the process of European integration, but it is also its weakest component. The EU’s most glorious attribute, the eurozone is now synonymous with harsh austerity measures, protests and no prospect of any remarkable growth in many countries for years to come. Obvious rifts between the EU’s countries are shaking its foundations like never before. The EU passed through many crises (approximately one a decade), and it always exited stronger. This time may be different. The EU may weather the storm. It may, however, end up as a big and important group, but not a very happy family of nations. The first decade of the 21st century was ‘lost’ for the EU, while the second decade may prove to be the epoch of its diminished global relevance. This is a pity as Europe has taken the reins in many global issues (e.g. environment). Compared with Europe, integration in Southeast Asia started from a very different point and at a different time. Nonetheless, the region provides certain context-specific lessons for the integration path. Given the circumstances in Southeast Asia, it is suggested that the region integrate but follow a light institutional model coupled with simple rules of origin to support efficient supply chains and production networks.
Неке Језичке Особености Његошевог ,,ГОРСКОГ ВИЈЕНЦА“

Since all the characters from The Mountain Wreath originated from simple folk, they had to speak (and do speak) as simple folk – is Popović’ dominant view on the language of Njegoš’ work. What is more, he indicated that the folk dialect is the most significant feature of the language of the Wreath, but there is something more that he presented using specifically chosen material in a particular chapter of the volume On the Mountain Wreath, and that is now Njegoš and his language indicates that he is much more than a simple folk author. We have, working with the material provided by Popovic, but also relying on overall insight into the entirety of The Mountain Wreath, analyzed several linguistic features: certain groups of consonants, the fate of the consonant f, moving vowels, system of pronouns, adjectival-pronoun forms, verbs, some syntactic features, etc. Our analyses have indicated that the dialectical note in Njegoš’ language is quite prominent; however, these features are never solely local (originating from the village Njeguši), but are instead always a part of a broader region. At the same time, the poet-author of The Mountain Wreath when choosing between the dialectological and literary character often selects the latter – thus, in constructing its idiosyncratic poetic language Njegoš relies on both the dialectical and literary form. The fact is that the language of The Mountain Wreath brings it closer to the work being done by Vuk and to his model of the literary language, at the same time distinguishes it from most of the Montenegrin dialects of the time. Pavle Popović considered his chapter on diction a “short and entertaining stroll through the Wreath”, while it turned out that it is much more than that. Our paper has, in addition to linguistic analyses, also provided a way back to Popović’ impressions and the revival of his views of the language of The Mountain Wreath, expressed at the beginning of the 20th century.
Accuracy of incidental dynamic analysis of mobile elevating work platforms
Miomir LJ. Jovanović,Goran N. Radoičić,Vladimir S. Stojanović 국제구조공학회 2019 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.71 No.5
This paper presents the results of a study into the dynamic behaviour of a support structure of a mobile elevating work platform. The vibrations of the mechanical system of the observed structure are examined analytically, numerically, and experimentally. Within the analytical examination, a simple mathematical model is developed to describe free and forced vibrations. The dynamic analysis of the mechanical system is conducted using a discrete dynamic model with a reduced number of vibrational degrees of freedom. On the basis of the expression for the system energy, and by applying Lagrange's equations of the second kind, differential equations are derived for system vibrations, frequencies are determined, and the laws of forced platform vibration are established. At the same time, a nonlinear FEM model is developed and the laws of free and forced vibration are determined. The experimental and numerical part of the study deal with the examination of the real structure in extreme conditions, taking into account: the lowest eigenfrequency, forced actions that could endanger the general stability, the maximal amplitudes, and the acceleration of the work platform. The obtained analytical and numerical results are compared with the experiments. The experimental verification points to the adverse behaviour of the platform in excitation cases – swaying. In such a situation, even a relatively small physical force can lead to unacceptably high amplitudes of displacement and acceleration – exceeding the usual work values.

A novel preparation for human use was investigated for probiotic properties of new lactobacilli isolates from oral and fecal samples of children. Identified strains were Lactobacillus plantarum (Lac1, Lac2, Lac6, and Lac7), Lactobacillus casei (Lac3), and Lactobacillus paracasei (Lac4). Isolates were non-hemolytic, produced organic acids, were tolerant to wide ranges of temperature, NaCl, and pH, and were highly resistant to lysozyme, acidity, and bile salts. High survival rates in artificial gastric and intestinal fluids indicated abilities to survive passage through the gastrointestinal tract. Antimicrobial activities were restricted to bacteria, attributed to low pH values. Isolated strains possessed good aggregation abilities, high hydrophobicity values, and moderate abilities to adhere to HCT 116 cells. Substantial probiotic features were identified for all isolates. Lac2, Lac6, and Lac7 were identified as the most advantageous candidates for further study of other probiotic and technological properties.
Design and performance of low-pressure reversible axial fan with doubly curved profiles of blades
Živan Spasić,Miloš Jovanović,Jasmina Bogdanović-Jovanović 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.8
Reversible axial fans are used to achieve air (gas) flow in both directions. An axial fan only has an impeller that can achieve the reverse flow by changing the direction of the impeller rotation. In order to obtain the same performance for both directions, the profiles of the impeller blades should be completely symmetrical, in the shape of the ellipse. This paper presents the design and performance for a reversible axial fan with blades that have a slightly doubly curved profile. The shape of the profile, whose design is shown here, was previously obtained on the basis of the numerical simulation in the profile cascade. For the experimental tests, an axial reversible fan model with double curved profiles of the blades was made. Fan performance was obtained by testing a fan for three blade positions on a standard test installation. The performance curves were compared with the performance of the reversible axial fan blades with straight profiles. The fan with doubly curved profile blades achieved a greater increase in pressure and flow than the fan with straight profiles, with approximately the same efficiency. Low pressure axial reversible fans are used in drying chambers for wood and such a design can achieve higher drying efficiency.
Experience with an On-board Weighing System Solution for Heavy Vehicles
Goran Radoičić,Miomir Jovanović,Miodrag Arsić 한국전자통신연구원 2016 ETRI Journal Vol.38 No.4
Mining, construction, and other special vehicles for heavy use are designed to work under high-performance and off-road working conditions. The driving and executive mechanisms of the support structures and superstructures of these vehicles frequently operate under high loads. Such high loads place the equipment under constant risk of an accident and can jeopardize the dynamic stability of the machinery. An experimental investigation was conducted on a refuse collection vehicle. The aim of this research was to determine the working conditions of a real vehicle: the kinematics of the waste container, that is, a hydraulic rotate drum for waste collection; the dynamics of the load manipulator (superstructure); the vibrations of the vehicle mass; and the strain (stress) of the elements responsible for the supporting structure. For an examination of the force (weight) on the rear axle of a heavy vehicle, caused by its own weight and additional load, a universal measurement system is proposed. As a result of this investigation, we propose an alternative system for continuous vehicle weighing during waste collection while in motion, that is, an on-board weighing system, and provide suggestions for measuring equipment designs.
Non-linear incidental dynamics of frame structures
Goran N. Radoičić,Miomir LJ. Jovanović,Dragan Z. Marinković 국제구조공학회 2014 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.52 No.6
A simulation of failures on responsible elements is only one form of the extreme structural behavior analysis. By understanding the dynamic behavior in incidental situations, it is possible to make a special structural design from the point of the largest axial force, stress and redundancy. The numerical realization of one such simulation analysis was performed using FEM in this paper. The boundary parameters of transient analysis, such as overall structural damping coefficient, load accelerations, time of load fall and internal forces in the responsible structural elements, were determined on the basis of the dynamic experimental parameters. The structure eigenfrequencies were determined in modal analysis. In the study, the basic incidental models were set. The models were identified by many years of monitoring incidental situations and the most frequent human errors in work with heavy structures. The combined load models of structure are defined in the paper since the incidents simply arise as consequences of cumulative errors and failures. A feature of a combined model is that the single incident causes the next incident (consecutive timing) as well as that other simple dynamic actions are simultaneous. The structure was observed in three typical load positions taken from the crane passport (range-load). The obtained dynamic responses indicate the degree of structural sensitivity depending on the character of incident. The dynamic coefficient KD was adopted as a parameter for the evaluation of structural sensitivity.

The present experiments were done to determine the effectiveness of a non-specific nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), on oxidative stress parameters induced by aluminium chloride (AlCl3) intrahippocampal injections in Wistar rats. Animals were sacrificed 3 h and 30 d after treatments, heads were immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen and forebrain cortices were removed. Crude mitochondrial fraction preparations of forebrain cortices were used for the biochemical analyses: nitrite levels, superoxide production, malondialdehyde concentrations, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities and reduced glutathione contents. AlCl3 injection resulted in increased nitrite concentrations, superoxide anion production, malondialdehyde concentrations and reduced glutathione contents in the forebrain cortex, suggesting that AlCl3 exposure promoted oxidative stress in this brain structure. The biochemical changes observed in neuronal tissues showed that aluminium acted as a pro-oxidant. However, the nonspecific nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor, L- NAME, exerted anti-oxidant actions in AlCl3-treated animals. These results revealed that NO-mediated neurotoxicity due to intrahippocampal AlCl3 injection spread temporally and spatially to the forebrain cortex, and suggested a potentially neuroprotective effect for L-NAME.
Bridging the Theorist-Practitioner Gap in IR: What are the Risks and Benefits?
Richard J. Cook,Zhaoying Han,Maximilian Ohle,Srđan M. Jovanović 한국국제정치학회 2019 The Korean Journal of International Studies Vol.17 No.2
The practice international relations is routinely characterized as binary, which derive from two domains, either a scientific domain, which aims to seek factual knowledge, or a political/practical domain that seeks political action. Each operates on its own praxis and eidos and forms the fundamental differentiation between the domains that has governed the working ethics of international relations professionals for the better part of 70 years. Although these norms are still in place, the specialization of IR has begun to shift this traditional practice as a growing demand for more mid-level and level-specific research, gravitating around a world with increasing uncertainties is fuelling policy research demand. The extra demand has begun to pull scholars into the field of politics and political action. How does this affect identity and our interactions? What impact does this have on bridging the theorist-practitioner gap? And where does this leave IR pedagogy? This paper shall address these questions claiming that the gap should be bridged, but with the caveat of caution.
Is the Eurozone Rescue Strategy Tantamount to the Rearrangement of the Deckchairs on the Titanic?
( Miroslav N. Jovanovi ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 2012 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.27 No.1
The eurozone is the crown jewel in the process of European integration. This monetary zone includes the most advanced integration grouping of countries in the European Union. The eurozone has been expanding the number of its participants, a sign of success in any economic or political union. Politicians promised citizens stability and perpetual economic progress at the time of the eurozone inauguration (1999). This monetary integration has been a predominantly political process which neglected certain economic fundamentals for long term durability. These include federal-type intra-group fund transfers and orientation towards economic growth. Certain eurozone flaws appeared, raising powerful doubts about its survival. Some of the internal troubles of the eurozone such as an endemic lack of respect of rules, were amplified by the global credit crunch, bringing into question the initial promises made to citizens. A series of rescue operations commenced in 2010. Too much political and economic capital has been invested in the eurozone, to the extent that its statesmen will do everything they can to rescue it. If its participants believe the deal to be beneficial, the eurozone will continue its existence, but several federal-type amendments are necessary. Otherwise, the eurozone may join the ranks of a series of European monetary zones that have disintegrated over the past two centuries. The bloc`s citizens (and others) are unwitting observers of a slow motion eurozone train crash. Even though the eurozone burdens some of its member countries with high costs, its break-up or countries` departure from it may prove even worse, but not inconceivable.
