The resistance spot welding is widely used for automotive assembling, electric manufacture and airplane industry. Parametric studies, welding current, welding time, and electrode forec, has been madeto to investigate spot weldability, microstructure of welding zone, TSS and CTS of SPC, HPC, SPC Zn and SPC Zn-Fe. Some of important results derived in this study are followed : - In spot welding, weldability is moved into the lower welding current area as the tensile strength of sheet metal increases, and for the optimum welding condition the electroplated steel sheet requires higher current comparing with uncoated steel plate. - The electrode force and welding time obviously affects the TSS, CTS, but the critical range of representing ultimate welding strength is observed - Indentation formed by over welding current causes a decrease in the welding strength. - CTS and ductility ratio of HPC are increased by the tempering treatment. The improvement of these mechanical properties is marked for the higher strengthened base metal among HPC.

Generally it is very difficult to solve the equation of heat conduction analytically on regions with irregular configuration. So, these kinds of problems can be solved by numerical methods using computer. The representative numerical methods on heat conduction problem are F.D.M. and F.E.M. But these methods contain several important considerations such as C.P.U time and the number of segments and so on. If we know the mapping functions transforming irregular shapes into unit circle, we can overcome these difficult factors. In this paper, the mapping functions on three kinds of irregular shapes were derived and the Dirichlet problems of two dimensional heat conduction without heat source were solved by using them. Actually these conditions are very interesting in fields of unclear and heat treatment in industry. The derived mapping solutions are very simple forms containing fundamental functions such as Bessel and exponential functions. Specifically, at centers of shapes the value of zero order Bessel function of the 1st kind is 1 so that mapping solutions become only exponential functions. To verify the accuracy of this method, mapping solution on square shape was compared with exact and F.D.M solutions. The result showed that this was a good method to solve several non-analytic problems.

The acute abdomen defined as an acute abdominal condition which needs immediate decision for treatment is one of the most common cause for emergency care. One thound six hundreds nine patients were visited to pediatric emergency center due to acute abdomen. To aid in early diagnosis and proper treatment, a clinical review was made on 278 cases of acute abdomen under 15 yrs old which admitted to Pediatrics and General surgery via emergency center from June of 1994 to May of 1995. The results as follows: It was 17.3% of total visiting to pediatric emergency center due to gastrointestinal sysmptoms. The sex ratio(Male: Female) was 2.35:1. Acute gastroenteristis was the most common acute abdominal condition(54%) and followed by acute appendicitis(17.9%), and intussusception(13.9%). The most common chief commplaint was vomiting(58%) and followed by abdominal pain(39.4%), diarrhea(35.8%), and fever(42.1%). One hundred fifty-five patients were visited to pediatric emergency center via local clinic and thirty patients via OPDs. The operations were done in 75 patients. Among them, immediate operation were done in 60 patients and delayed operations were done in 15 patients, but there is no difference in complication.

The bioequivalence of two nicotine patches was evaluated in 16 normal male volunteers (age 21∼27 yrs) following single transdermal application. Test product was "Nicostop patch" made by Sam Yang Co. and reference product was "Nicotinell TTS patch" made by Korean Searle Ciba-Geigy Co. After nicotine patches were applied onto the inside of the forearm, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the nicotine concentration in plasma was determined with a sensitive GC method using NPD detector. AUC and C_max the differences in AUC and C_max between two products were 5.47% and 2.70%, respectively. The powers (1-β) for AUC and C_max were >90% and 88.76%, respectively. Detectable differences(△) and confidence intervals were all less than 20%. All of these parameters met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that "Nicostop patch" is bioequivalent to "Nicotinell TTS patch".

This study examined the physiological and histological changes in Sprague-Dawley rats with induced hypertension by chronic treatment of NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME), nitric oxide synthesis inhibitor. Systolic blood pressure of L-NAME treatement experimental group was significantly higher compared with untreated control group by 28.5%(44.2mmHg)(p<0.001). Changing rates on systolic blood pressure of L-NAME treated groups according to during L-NAME treatment period were significantly higher than control groups by 16.1% in 2weeks, 15.1% in 4weeks(p<0.05), 29.1% in 6weeks(p<0.01) and 28.5%(p<0.001). However, heart rate and body weight did all not significant differ between L-NAME treated group and control group, between L-NAME posttreated rats and pretreated rats. Systolic blood pressure had each low correlation with heart rate and body weight. In conclusion, chronic inhibition of nitric oxide by L-NAME treatment had significant effect on systolic blood pressure, but not affect on heart rate and body weight. Thus, this study suggested that nitric oxide had important role to control for blood pressure and to modulation for function of organs associated with blood pressure.

This thesis is a study on the quench characteristics in epoxy impregnated superconducting magnet. Teh normal 3one propagation velocity, full quench time and full recovery time in a superconducting magnet during quench are simulated numerically. Propagation velocity is linearly proportional to the transport current and abruptly increases near the critical current. Longitudinal velocity is nearly 20 times of transverse velocity regardless of the transport current. The ratio of the transverse velocity to longitudinal velocity is about 0.04 regardless of the transport current and the full quench time is abruptly decreased near the minimum propagation current. Comparing superconducting composites composed of Cu matrix to the composites of Cu/CuNi matrix, the propagation velocity of the former is slower than the latter, while the full quench time of the former is longer under the same transport curent.
