A recognition of the traditional figurative language is considered a method for the rhetoric or literary expression to use effective languages or a fluent communication. But, Figurative Language is not an exclusive possession of the rhetorics or the stylistics but a creative peculiarity of the recognition system enlarging a category of the daily experience and understanding. Therefore a usage of the figurative language is in charge of the important part of transmission in human mind. A pertinent usage and understanding of the language as the most important factor which is considered a human being as a human being have a recognitive peculiarity of symbol of the human being. And also a figurative language which turns a difficult conception into an easy passage is used as a means of communication for understanding through a simplicity and clarity of the difficult and abstract conception. Therefore figurative language can be an a means of transmission. A important point of this research purpose is a building of the system through an analysis of figurative language in Chinese. It will be result from looking for a special point through analyses of a few kinds of figuratve languages. This thesis will be used examples of simile, metaphor, borrowing figurative language and leading figurative language etc. as a research method of analysis. Finally I expect that we can understand Chinese language which is revealed as methods of the language expressions through this analysis.
Inelastic design of high-axially loaded concrete columns in moderate seismicity regions
Johnny Ching Ming Ho 국제구조공학회 2011 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.39 No.4
In regions of high seismic risk, high-strength concrete (HSC) columns of tall buildings are designed to be fully ductile during earthquake attack by providing substantial amount of confining steel within the critical region. However, in areas of low to moderate seismic risk, the same provision of confining steel is too conservative because of the reduced seismic demand. More critically, it causes problematic steel congestion in the beam-column joints and column critical region. This will eventually affect the quality of concrete placing owing to blockage. To relieve the problem, the confining steel in the critical region of HSC columns located in low to moderate seismicity regions can be suitably reduced, while maintaining a limited ductility level. Despite the advantage, there are still no guidelines developed for designing limited ductility HSC columns. In this paper, a formula for designing limited ductility HSC columns is presented. The validity of the formula was verified by testing half-scale HSC columns subjected to combined high-axial load and flexure, in which the confining steel was provided as per the proposed formula. From the test results, it is evident that the curvature ductility factors obtained for all these columns were about 10, which is the generally accepted level of limited ductility.
Specification and Synthesis of Exception Handling in Grammar-based Hardware Synthesis
Johnny Oerg,Anshul Kumar,Ahmed Hemani,Shashi Kumar 한국정보과학회 1998 Journal of Electrical Engineering and Information Vol.3 No.6
ProGram is a grammar based specification language aimed for specification of protocols, interfaces and control dominated functionality. Specification of exception handling functionality and its automatic implementation are key requirements for a robust design methodology. We have extended ProGram to include specification of a wide range of exception handling functionality: reset, to deal with exception handling needs of global nature; interrupt, for representing exception handling on a hierarchical basis; and error sequences, to handle situations when inputs are not according to the specified grammar. We have also enhanced our synthesis algorithms and relieved them from some earlier limitations, to allow the ProGram compiler to deal with the exception handling extensions to the ProGram language. The tool based on these techniques has been used for the implementation of 1) a send/receive protocol supplied by industry, 2) a bus-arbiter and 3) the Intel 8251A Personal Communication Interface.
