The purpose of this study is to develop an observation program for obtaining effective flat images that are necessary for photometric observation. The development of the program was achieved by improving the existing method for obtaining twilight flat images. The existing method for obtaining twilight flat images acquires flat images by observing the sky light after sunset or light before sunrise. The decision of when to observe flat images at each night is solely dependent on the judgment of an observer, and thus the obtained flat images for particular nights may not be clean. Especially, in the case of the observatories where an automated observation system is in operation, there is a difficulty that an observer should pay attention during sunrise and sunset in order to obtain flat images. In this study, a computer program is developed to improve this inconvenience and to efficiently perform photometric observation in the observatories where an automated observation system is applied. This program can obtain flat images by calculating the time for obtaining flat images automatically and the exposure time using a numerically calculated function. When obtaining twilight flat images at dusk and at dawn, the developed program performs automated observation and provides effective flat images by acquiring appropriate exposure time considering the sunrise and sunset times that vary depending on the day of observation. The code for performing this task was added to Obs Tool II (Yoon et al. 2006), which is the automated observation system of the Chungbuk National University Observatory, and the usefulness of the developed program was examined by performing an actual automated observation. If this program is applied to other observatories where automated observation is in operation, it is expected that stable and highquality flat images could be obtained, which can be used for the pre-processing of photometric observation data.

Astronomical Observations at Chungbuk National University Observatory (CBNUO) with an 1 m telescope have begun since April 2008, and Near-Earth Space Survey observations also have been started since November 2010, with a 0.6 m wide field telescope developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. To improve observational efficiency, we developed a weather monitoring system enabling automatic monitoring for the weather conditions and checking the status of the observational circumstances, such as dome status. We hope this weather monitoring system can be helpful to more than 100 Korean domestic observatories, including public outreach facilities. In this paper, we present the statistic analysis of the weather conditions collected at CBNUO for 3 years (2009- 2011) and comparisons were made for clear nights between using only humidity data and both humidity and cloud data.
Photometric Defocus Observations of Transiting Extrasolar Planets
Tobias C. Hinse,Wonyong Han,Joh-Na Yoon,Chung-Uk Lee,Yong-Gi Kim,Chun-Hwey Kim 한국우주과학회 2015 Journal of Astronomy and Space Sciences Vol.32 No.1
We have carried out photometric follow-up observations of bright transiting extrasolar planets using the CbNUOJ 0.6 m telescope. We have tested the possibility of obtaining high photometric precision by applying the telescope defocus technique, allowing the use of several hundred seconds in exposure time for a single measurement. We demonstrate that this technique is capable of obtaining a root-mean-square scatter of sub-millimagnitude order over several hours for a V ~10 host star, typical for transiting planets detected from ground-based survey facilities. We compared our results with transit observations from a telescope operated in in-focus mode. High photometric precision was obtained due to the collection of a larger amount of photons, resulting in a higher signal compared to other random and systematic noise sources. Accurate telescope tracking is likely to further contribute to lowering systematic noise by exposing the same pixels on the CCD. Furthermore, a longer exposure time helps reduce the effect of scintillation noise which otherwise has a significant effect for small-aperture telescopes operated in in-focus mode. Finally we present the results of modelling four light-curves in which a root-mean-square scatter of 0.70 to 2.3 milli-magnitudes was achieved.

We present a by-product of our long term photometric monitoring of cataclysmic variables. 2MASS J18024395 +4003309 = VSX J180243.9 +400331 was discovered in the field of the intermediate polar V1323 Her observed using the Korean 1-m telescope located at Mt. Lemmon, USA. An analysis of the two-color VR CCD observations of this variable covers all the phase intervals for the first time. The light curves show this object can be classified as an Algol-type variable with tidally distorted components, and an asymmetry of the maxima (the O’Connell effect). The periodogram analysis confirms the cycle numbering of Andronov et al. (2012) and for the initial approximation, the ephemeris is used as follows: Min I. BJD = 2456074.4904+0.3348837E . For phenomenological modeling, we used the trigonometric polynomial approximation of statistically optimal degree, and a recent method “NAV” (“New Algol Variable”) using local specific shapes for the eclipse. Methodological aspects and estimates of the physical parameters based on analysis of phenomenological parameters are presented. As results of our phenomenological model, we obtained for the inclination i=90°, M1=0.745M◉, M2=0.854M◉, M=M1+M2=1.599M◉, the orbital separation a=1.65·109m=2.37R◉ and relative radii r1=R1/a=0.314 and r2=R2/a=0.360. These estimates may be used as preliminary starting values for further modeling using extended physical models based on the Wilson & Devinney (1971) code and it's extensions
Foreign Body Granuloma Following Hwangryunhaedok-tang Pharmacopuncture for Postherpetic Neuralgia
( Na Young Kim ),( Hae Chang Joh ),( Jeong Eun Kim ),( Young Suck Ro ),( Joo Yeon Ko ) 대한피부과학회 2023 Annals of Dermatology Vol.35 No.7
Foreign body granuloma can be caused by endogenous compounds as well as various injectable materials. In oriental medicine, pharmacopuncture combining herbal medicine administration and injection is one of the commonly used procedures. Hwangryunhaedoktang (HHT, a.k.a., Huang-Lian-Jie-Du-Tang in China), an oriental medicinal herb known to produce anti-inflammatory effects, has been recently made in pharmacopuncture products and commonly used for various disorders. An 88-year-old female presented with multiple tender nodules on the left parietal scalp and forehead. The diagnosis of foreign body granuloma caused by HHT pharmacopuncture was revealed by more detailed previous treatment history of postherpetic neuralgia and histopathologic examination. Herein, we report a foreign body granuloma as a delayed adverse reaction caused by non-standard administration of herbal extracts, considered biologically inert.

Porous carbon nanofibers (CNFs) derived from graphene oxide (GO) were prepared from the carbonization of electrospun polyacrylonitrile nanofibers with up to 15wt.% GO at 1200oC, followed by a low-temperature activation. The activated CNFs with reduced GOs (r-GO) revealed a specific surface area and adsorption capacity of 631m2/g and 191.2F/g, respectively, which are significantly higher than those of pure CNFs (16m2/g and 3.1F/g). It is believed that rough interfaces between r-GO and CNFs introduce oxygen pathways during activation, help to produce large amounts of all types of pores compared to pure activated CNFs.

During a study to discover indigenous prokaryotic species in Korea in 2016, a total of 42 actinobacterial isolates were recovered from various environmental samples collected from natural cave, squid, sewage, sea water, trees, droppings of birds, freshwater, eelgrass, mud flat, sediment and soil. On the basis of a tight phylogenetic clade with the closest species and high level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, it was shown that each isolate was assigned to independent and previously described bacterial species which were assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. The following 42 species have not been reported in Korea: eight species in two genera n the order Corynebacteriales, 26 species of 16 genera in the Micrococcales, one species of one genus in the Micromonosporales, one species of one genus in the Propionibacteriales, four species of two genera in the Streptomycetales and two species of two genera in the Streptosporangiale. Cell morphology, Gram staining reaction, colony colors and features, the media and conditions of incubation, physiological and biochemical characteristics, origins of isolation and strain IDs of 42 unrecorded actinobacterial species are presented in the species description.

Trichoblastoma is a benign cutaneous neoplasm that consists of follicular germinative cells. We report a case cf trichoblastoma in a 58-year-old man. The tumor was presented as a solitary symmetrical shaped pedunculated 5.0×4.0×2.0cm sized multilobular tumor on right lower leg for 2 years. Histopathologic examination showed well circumscribed dermal tumor composed of multilobular tumor islands of palisaded basaloid epithelial cells. The tumoral lobules were concentrically surrounded by hyalinized collagen bundles with fibroblasts. The overall architecture was reminiscent of hair bulbs. Cytokeratin 14 stain showed positive reaction, but cytokeratin 10 stain showed negative reaction. The tumor was completely excised with clear margin. No sign of recurrence has been noted until 9 months later. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(7) : 968~970)
