        Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Exstrophy of the Bladder

        Exstrophy of the bladder is a rare congenital anomaly with an incidence of about 1 per 50,000 newborns. The malignant potential of the exstrophied bladder mucosa is well known; 95% are adenocarcinomas, and 3% to 5% are squamous cell carcinomas. Most of the malignant tumors (60%) associated with an exstrophy of the bladder occur during the fourth and fifth decades of life. Of the remaining, about 20% each occur after 60 years and before 40 years. Here we present a case in which squamous cell carcinoma developed in an unrepaired exstrophy of the bladder. We present the management of the case and a brief review of the literature.

        Preparation of ultra-porous graphene oxide using a glucose-mediated hydrothermal method for efficient removal of fluoride ions from water: kinetics, isotherms and co-existing ions studies

        Porous graphene oxide (P-GO) was successfully synthesized by using a simple glucose mediated hydrothermal method form prepared graphene oxide (GO). Then the P-GO was characterized by X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Fourier-Transform Infrared (FITR), Raman, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis to determine the crystallinity, surface functionality, surface defect, surface area and porous nature of the material. For the comparative properties studies with P-GO, the synthesised GO was also characterised using the aforementioned analytical techniques. The formation of macroporous 2D sheet-like structure of P-GO with pore size diameters of 0.2–0.5 µm was confirmed by FESEM and TEM images. The surface area of P-GO was found to be 1272 m2/g which is much higher compare to GO (i.e., 172 m2/g) because of porous structure. P-GO was used for the adsorptive removal of F− ions from water using batch adsorption method. The highest adsorption occurs in the pH range of 5–7 with maximum adsorption capacity of 1272 mg/g. The experimental data revealed that the adsorption process obeys Langmuir monolayer isotherm model. The kinetic analysis revealed that the adsorption procedure is extremely rapid and mainly fit to the Pseudo-second-order (PSO) model. The effect of co-existing ions on fluoride adsorption capacity by P-GO decreases in the following order: PO43− > CO32− > SO42− > HCO3− > NO3− > Cl−. The mechanism of adsorption of fluoride onto the P-GO surface includes electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding.

        In this paper, we have determined the degree of approximation of function belonging of Lipschitz class by using Deferred-Generalized N\"{o}rlund $ (D_\beta^\gamma.N_{pq})$ means of Fourier series and conjugate series of Fourier series, where $\{p_n\}$ and $\{q_n\}$ is a non-increasing sequence. So that results of DE\~{G}ER and BAYINDIR \cite{DEBA} become special cases of our results.

        Awareness regarding Safe Abortion among Adolescent Girls in Rural area of Mahottari district of Nepal

        목적 : 이 연구는 네팔의 마호타리 지방에 거주하고 있는 사춘기 소녀들의 낙태에 대한 인식 수준을 평가하기 위해 수행하였다. 방법 : 이 연구는 지역사회 기반 단면연구로서 2019년 1월부터 3월까지 네팔의 마호타리 지역의 농촌 마을 사춘기 소녀 412명 대상으로 실시하였다. 대상자는 10세에서 19세까지의 사춘기 소녀로서 다단계집락추출 방법으로 선정하였고, 사춘기 소녀의 낙태에 대한 인식 수준에 미치는 요인을 알기위해다변량로지스틱회귀을 시행하였다. 결과 : 조사 결과 사춘기 소녀의 45.6%가 안전한 낙태에 대해 높은 인식도를 가지고 있었다. 결혼한 청소년의 인식도는 미혼의 청소년보다 높았고(OR = 2.16, 95 % CI : 1.01-4.87), 중등교육 이상을 받은 청소년의 인식도가 높았다(OR = 2.21, 95 % CI : 1.13-3.04). 또한 월 소득이 10,000 ~ 20,000 루피(NRs)와 그 이상이 되는 경우 10,000 루피에 비해 각각 2.33 배(OR=2.33, 95 % CI : 1.07-3.55), 3.17 배(OR=3.17, 95 % CI : 2.19-8.94)더 높았다. 결론 : 이 연구를 통해 낙태에 대한 전반적인 지식 수준은 낮았다. 결혼상태, 교육수준, 가족수입과 같은 사회 경제적 요인이 낙태에 대한 인식수준과 관련이 있어, 이를 통해 원치 않는 임신, 낙태 및 그로 인한 합병증을 줄이기 위해 낙태에 대한 인식 수준을 높일 수 있도록 노력하여야 한다. This study aimed to assess the level of awareness on safe abortion among adolescent girls in rural area of Mahottari district of Nepal. A community based cross-sectional study was conducted in rural areas of Mahottari district of Southern Nepal between January and March 2019.A sample of 412 adolescent girls was selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. Multivariable logistic regression model was adapted to explore level of awareness among adolescent girls. This study found that 45.6% of adolescent girls had high awareness regarding safe abortion. The odds of awareness among the married adolescents was higher (AOR=2.16; 95% CI: 1.01-4.87) than unmarried adolescent whereas the odds of awareness among the adolescents who had education of secondary level and more had higher (AOR=2.21; 95%CI: 1.13-3.04) than those who had primary or lower secondary level of education. Similarly, the adolescents who had monthly family income of Nepalese Rupees (NRs.), 10,000-20,000 and more than NRs. 20,000 were respectively, 2.33 times (AOR = 2.33; 95% CI: 1.07–3.55) and 3.17 times (AOR = 3.17; 95% CI: 2.19–8.94) more likelihood to have high awareness regarding safe abortion than those their counterparts. The study showed that overall level of knowledge towards safe abortion was found low. Socio-demographic factors like marital status, level of education, and family income were the factors independently associated with level of awareness on safe abortion. Therefore, efforts should be exerted towards arising and improving the awareness of abortion care which may reduce unwanted pregnancy, abortion and other complications related to abortion.

        Resource-efficient load-balancing framework for cloud data center networks

        Cloud computing has drastically reduced the price of computing resources through the use of virtualized resources that are shared among users. However, the established large cloud data centers have a large carbon footprint owing to their excessive power consumption. Inefficiency in resource utilization and power consumption results in the low fiscal gain of service providers. Therefore, data centers should adopt an effective resource-management approach. In this paper, we present a novel load-balancing framework with the objective of minimizing the operational cost of data centers through improved resource utilization. The framework utilizes a modified genetic algorithm for realizing the optimal allocation of virtual machines (VMs) over physical machines. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework improves the resource utilization by up to 45.21%, 84.49%, 119.93%, and 113.96% over a recent and three other standard heuristics-based VM placement approaches.

      • Investigations on magnetic and electrical properties of Zn doped Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> nanoparticles and their correlation with local electronic structures

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Present work aims at investigating the structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of zinc doped Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanoparticles (pure, 10%, 20% & 30%) and correlated with their local electronic structures using X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction and Raman measurements infer that doping of Zn cations lead to the formation of secondary phases corresponding to ZnFe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> along with the hematite phase of Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>. Magnetic measurements show that magnetization vs magnetic field curve for 10% Zn doping exhibit maximum saturation magnetization (~2.93 × 10<SUP>−3</SUP> emu/g) as well as the coercivity (~956 Oe). The values of these parameters decrease for higher content of Zn. The temperature dependence of dielectric behaviour follows the same trend as that of the lattice parameter and magnetic measurements. The XANES spectra at Fe L- and Fe K-edges indicate partial reduction of Fe<SUP>3+</SUP> ions into Fe<SUP>2+</SUP> upon Zn doping in the Fe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> lattice.       • Arsenic Exposure and Haematological Derangement in Cervical Cancer Cases in India

        Cervical cancer is the second most common gynecological malignancy worldwide. According to HPV Information Centre, Spain (Aug'2014), in India approximately 1,22,844 women are diagnosed with the disease every year and of them 67,477 die due to the disease. CaCx is said to be mediated by HPV but recent data published reveal the role of Oxidative Stress in different Cancers. Arsenic is also one of the agents for causing Oxidative Stress. Arsenic has been linked with different types of cancer. Arsenic is considered responsible for generation of free radicals and eventually for apoptosis. Early diagnosis of CaCx is presently a matter of concern and clinical presentation in advanced stages become difficult for complete clinical response. For determination of oxidative stress, Malondialdehyde (MDA) was taken as an identifier and arsenic estimation was performed with the help of Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). RBC count and Haemoglobin levels were performed according to standard protocol. MDA was in direct proportion with arsenic concentration and inversely proportional to RBC and Haemoglobin in CaCx patients. Arsenic is one of the major causative agents for oxidative stress and hence may be a risk factor leading to cancer including CaCx.

        Sintering and Oxidation of GdB<sub>4</sub> Synthesized by B<sub>4</sub>C Reduction Method

        Gadolinium tetraboride ($GdB_4$) was synthesized by reduction of $Gd_2O_3$ using boron carbide in presence of carbon. Effect of temperature on product quality was investigated. Pure $GdB_4$ powder was obtained in vacuum at $1500^{\circ}C$. Pressureless sintering experiments revealed that sintering takes place only above $1600^{\circ}C$. A maximum density of 77.1% of the theoretical value was obtained at $1800^{\circ}C$ by pressureless sintering. Hot pressing resulted in 95.5% of theoretical density at the lower temperature of $1700^{\circ}C$ under 35 MPa pressure. Hardness and fracture toughness of dense $GdB_4$ were measured and found to be 21.4 GPa and $2.3MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$, respectively. After exposure to air at $900^{\circ}C$, the formation of a porous and non-protective oxide layer was observed.
