      • Analysis of Objective and Error Source of Ski Technical Championship

        PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is conducted to analyze the objectivity of the ski technical championships hosted by Korea Ski Instructor Association (KSIA) and to identify the error sources that affect the score of the competition. METHODS: To this end, we used the data from the 25th(2009) to 33rd(2017) ski technical championships held by the Korea Ski Instructor Association (KSIA). The data provided by Win Excel 2010 was used to sort out the missing data, such as abandonment, according to the data processing method. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 to calculate the mean and standard deviation of each season, event, and judges, and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). In addition, by using the single facet crossed design(p*j) of the generalizability theory’s G study, the variance component estimates for the participant(p) and the judges (j) are calculated, and the influence (%). RESULTS: As a result of the research, it was confirmed that the results of all the seasons and events from the 25th to the 33th events were very consistent, with the objective of .845~.986 higher than the recognition level of .80. In addition, the results show that the relative ratio of the judges to the error of the judging score is very low as a result of the error analysis through the dispersion component estimates. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, the results of the KSIA evaluation are highly evaluated objectivity and have very low impact on the judges" errors

        Improvement of trade-off between mechanical properties and dielectric of polyimide with surface modified silica nanoparticle for wafer level packaging

        Recently, as 3-D stacking and high integration are required in semiconductor packaging technology, it iscritical to develop higher performance packaging materials. Insulation ability and mechanical propertiesof passivation layer should be enhanced to prevent device from electrical short and malfunction. In thisstudy, low dielectric, residual stress, and the coefficient of thermal expansion polyimide/surface modifiedsilica nanoparticle composites for wafer level packaging are synthesized and investigated. Silica nanoparticlesof which surface modified with amine functional group increased the distance between polymerchains to form a free space, thereby lowering the dielectric constant. Also, they acted as a cross-linkerand showed the effect of improving the mechanical properties of polyimide. Consequently, synthesizedcomposites are potential candidate for high performance packaging material.

        Finite element analysis of eyeball with its microstructure by use of homogenization method

        An effective simulation of the eyeball containing microstructures which are optic nerves and lamina cribrosa, through homogenization method, was studied. Entire domain of the eyeball is divided into a fine-scale zone and a coarse-scale zone to reduce the number of degrees of freedom accompanied by modeling the microstructures. In the coarse-scale zone, homogenized material properties of the lamina cribrosa combined with the optic nerves are employed to compute overall behavior, while the optic nerves are directly modeled to obtain their local behavior in the fine-scale zone. Numerical tests with models having different size of the fine-scale zone showed that this homogenization scheme did not severely deteriorate solution accuracy and makes it possible to reflect the microstructures with reduced computational cost. Then, this multiscale method was employed to confirm a clinical result that a greater susceptibility to development of glaucoma corresponds to a larger curvature of the lamina cribrosa.

      • O-GlcNAcylation and necroptosis in Alzheimer’s disease

        O-GlcNAcylation (O-linked β-N-acetylglucosaminylation) is notably decreased in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brain. Necroptosis is activated in AD brain and is positively correlated with neuroinflammation and tau pathology. However, the links among altered O-GlcNAcylation, β-amyloid (Aβ) accumulation, and necroptosis are unclear. Here, we found that O-GlcNAcylation plays a protective role in AD by inhibiting necroptosis. Necroptosis was increased in AD patients and AD mouse model compared with controls; however, decreased necroptosis due to O-GlcNAcylation of RIPK3 (receptor-interacting serine/threonine protein kinase 3) was observed in 5xFAD mice with insufficient O-linked β-N-acetylglucosaminase. O-GlcNAcylation of RIPK3 suppresses phosphorylation of RIPK3 and its interaction with RIPK1. Moreover, increased O-GlcNAcylation ameliorated AD pathology, including Aβ burden, neuronal loss, neuroinflammation, and damaged mitochondria and recovered the M2 phenotype and phagocytic activity of microglia. Thus, our data establish the influence of O-GlcNAcylation on Aβ accumulation and neurodegeneration, suggesting O-GlcNAcylation–based treatments as potential interventions for AD.

        The West African Power Pool is currently developing the regional electricity market for its member states. As the basic design for the cross-border power trading system for the West African Power Pool, the step-by-step evolution, the Baseline System and the Fullscale System, is estimated. Along with the interconnection project between member countries, the various functions from the data acquisition and processing by the Baseline System to the interchange trading by the Fullscale System will be implemented gradually.

      • The nature of the platform: Pipeline business comparison through Transaction Cost lens

        This study attempts to understand the existence of the platform, inspired by the work of the market failure framework by Williamson (1971, 1975) explaining the emergence of the firms through transactions cost lens. If the platform business is to be considered of its own kind, the proposition is that the framework needs to be revisited for extension to include the kinds for platform business. By utilizing the lens of the Transaction Cost Economics theory, we compare the two types of businesses: the traditional pipeline business to platform business. Building upon Coase(1937) tackling fundamental question of the nature of the firm, highlighting firm’s strategic choice of its governance structure for transaction cost efficiency as well as upon Williamson(1975) formulating ‘market failure framework’ for hierarchical organization’s emergence, we posit that the conceptual framework can be extended to explain the emergence of the platform business by articulating the nature of the platforms in comparison to the traditional pipeline businesses. This study’s scope is limited to ‘digital platform’, and more narrowly so to ‘transaction platform’. We conjecture that there is an ‘organizational failure’ to bring about an alternative form of an organization, the platform business. The comparison highlights that the nature of the platform business is distinct from traditional pipeline business and by this, we conclude that platform business needs apposite approaches in understanding its competition, cooperation as well as internal and externalization.

      • 산양산삼 품질평가를 위한 연근판별 지표 설정

        Background : Wild-cultivated ginseng (WCG) prices are very different according to root ages. Generally, two methods are used to discriminate the root ages of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer. The first method is the yearly determination method by the ring dyeing method, and the second method is the confirmation the number of stem vestiges in the rhizome. In this study, we analyzed the agronomic and growth characteristics of the WCG cultivated in Korea. In this study, to determine the appropriate root ages discrimination method for the determination of the root ages of WCG, the root ages of WCG and cultivated ginseng was examined. Methods and Results : We examined the cultivated ginseng (CG) and WCG that was collected and sold by regional groups at the Korean market. WCG does not form annual rings, which are clear and regular in wild ginseng. Therefore, it is impossible to identify the age of WCG by using the annual growth rings staining method. However, the age can be estimated by determining the number of stem vestiges in the rhizome. Conclusion : From the results of the Study on identification of root age for quality evealuation in WCG in Korea. Appropriate root ages discrimination method of WCG was confirmation the number of stem vestiges in the rhizome.
