A Knowledge-Based Image Segmentation System and Its Hardware Support System

A major problem in machine vision is the segmentation of images. In this paper, we present a new approach to solve the image segmentation problem that is based on the design of a knowledge-based image segmentation system(KBISS). The KBISS is an expert system which is based on production system, and according to two type knowledge, i.e region analysis rules and line analysis rules, performs the image segmentation. In general, a knowledge-based system realized on the conventional computer is low efficient. For this reason, we developed a KBISS hardware support system which is an electro-optical hybrid system. The experiment results show the KBISS and its hardware support system is valid and reasonable.
Light and Temperature Effects on the Color and Scent of Osmanthus fragrans ‘Houban Yingui’

External environmental factors affect the appearance of plants, specifically their color and aroma. To investigate the effects of environmental factors on the ornamental quality of Osmanthus fragrans, which has bright colors and a strong floral fragrance, the contents of characteristic flower color and aroma compounds under different light and temperature treatments were investigated in O. fragrans ‘Houban Yingui’. The content of the characteristic color compound β-carotene decreased after continuous light treatment and increased after continuous dark treatment, resulting in a paler color under light conditions and a deeper color under dark conditions. The volatiles of the flowers significantly decreased under both continuous light and continuous dark treatments, suggesting that the rhythm of alternating day and night may be more conducive to the synthesis and release of volatiles. In a low-temperature treatment, the contents of β-carotene decreased, resulting in a brighter color, while a high temperature may affect the flower color appearance by oxidation of phenolic compounds in addition to pigments. A high temperature accelerated flower senescence and promoted the release of cis-3-hexenyl butanoate and hexyl butanoate. A low temperature increased the release of trans-β-ionone, α-ionone, and many monoterpenes and corresponding oxides, which are aroma-active compounds of O. fragrans, resulting in a longer-lasting floral fragrance. The results here demonstrate that controlling the environmental conditions of the tem- perature and light can regulate the color and scent of O. fragrans.

To develop a poloxamer-based solid suppository with poloxamer and polyethylene glycol mixtures, the melting point of various formulations composed of P 188 and propylene glycol were investigated. The dissolution and antitumor activity of clotrimazole delivered by the poloxamer-based suppository were performed. The poloxamer mixtures composed of P 188 and propylene glycol were homogeneous phases. P 188 greatly affected the melting point of poloxamer mixtures. In particular, the poloxamer mixture [P 188/propylene glycol(70/30%)] with the melting point of about $32^{\circ}C$ was a solid form at room temperature and instantly melted at physiological temperature. Furthermore, the ratio of P 188/propylene glycol greatly affected the dissolution rates of clotrimazole from poloxamer-based suppository. It gave the more effective anti-tumor activity than conventional PEG-based suppository due to fast dissolution. Thus, the clotrimazole-Ioaded poloxamer-based solid suppository was an effective rectal dosage form with anti-tumor activity.
Influence of zircon on cristobalite crystallization of silicabased ceramic cores

Zircon is usually used as a main additive to silica-based ceramic core materials in precise investment casting in order toimprove their high temperature properties. But there is still a disagreement in its effect on crystallization behavior of fusedsilica. In this study, cristobalite crystallization of fused silica in three silica-based core materials containing 10, 30 and 50 wt%zircon respectively were investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy equipped with energydispersive spectrometer (SEM/EDS). Results showed that zircon addition had neglected effect on cristobalite crystallizationduring sintering at 1180 oC, 1200 oC, and 1220 oC, but could decrease crystallization during simulated casting process at1500 oC. It was suggested that diffusion of zirconium atoms played a crucial role in this suppressing behavior of zircon on thecristobalite crystallization. During cooling from 1500 oC, cristobalite transformation from β to α caused microcracks in thesesamples that containing 10% or 30% zircon. But when zircon content increased to 50%, crack was prevented. Less phasetransformation of fused silica → cristobalite and enhanced strength by zircon was supposed to be the reason that wasresponsible for prevented cracks.
A Location Method Based on Eight- Neighborhood Chain Code for Palmprint Image

The crucial issue of precise location for on-line palmprint image was to detect corner of hand-shape contour accurately. The existing corner detection algorithm cannot extract corner useful for location automatically. Through analyzing the regularity of chain-code of hand-shape contour, a rapid and effective corner-detection method was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the method of LOG operator and eight neighborhood boundary –tracking algorithm was made use of to extract the hand-shape contour and its chain-code. Then, according to the regularity of hand-shape contour chain-code around corner, the corner of hand-shape contour was detected accurately. Finally, establish a coordinate system according to the corner detected and locate the palmprint image. The experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness and rapidness of the proposed method.

본 연구는 2020년 12월 발효될 「중화인민공화국 수출통제법」에 대해 초안과 달라진 점과 기본적 입법 취지를 파악하는 한편, GATT 제XXI조(예외조항), 미국 무역확장법 제232조 조치와 차이점 및 우리 기업에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다. 수출통제법 연구결과 제9조 수출통제리스트, 제12조 Catch all 의무조항, 13조 허가기준에 국가안전과 이익 등을 근거로 수출을 통제할 수 있으나, 국가안전과 이익의 개념이 모호할 뿐만 아니라 GATT/WTO 안보 예외 사항에 해당하여 중국이 이 조항을 근거로 자의적으로 수출통제를 할 위험성이 매우 높다고 할 것이다. 수출통제법 발효로 인한 수출통제 대상과 범위, 처벌 수위가 높아질 것으로 예상되며, 이에 따라 중국진출 우리 기업들의 연관된 제품 수출시 동 법률을 자세히 사전 검토할 필요가 있으며, 수입하는 우리 기업들도 수출통제 대상이 되지 않도록 품목, 대상, 최종 사용자 등에 관한 철저한 연구가 선행되어야 할 것이다. This study examines the differences from the draft and the final version of the “Export Control Law of the People s Republic of China”, which will take effect in December 2020, while comparing the differences in Article XXI of GATT, Section 232 of the U.S. Trade Expansion Act, and its implications for Korean businesses. As a result of the study of the Export Control Act, exports can be controlled based on national safety and interests in accordance with Article 9 Export Control List, Article 12 Catch All obligations clause, and Article 13 Permit Standards, but the concept of national safety and interests is ambiguous. In addition, it would be said that there is a very high risk that China will arbitrarily control exports based on this provision as it falls under the GATT/WTO security exception. It is expected that export control targets, scope, and penalties will increase due to the entry into force of the Export Control Act. Accordingly, it is necessary to carefully review the law when exporting related products by Korean companies entering China. Thorough research on items, targets, and end users should be preceded so that they do not become targets.
