The analytical method for the determination of phosphorus in foods was validated by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) in terms of precision, accuracy, recovery efficiency and linearity. Regression analysis revealed good correlation coefficient, higher than 0.999. Recovery efficiencies of the minerals ranged from 90.36% to 110.63%, and the limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were 0.0745 mg/ kg and 0.2482 mg/kg, respectively. The value of inter-day and intra-day ranged from 1.43 to 3.23% and from 0.40 to 1.77%. The recovery efficiencies ranged from 97.8 to 110.6%. The method was also compared with Molybdenum blue colorimetric method using certified and statistically significant difference was also not observed in the between two different analytical methods. The ICP-OES method was applied to phosphorus determination in commonly consumed foods. The obtained results suggest that the method verified in the present study may be used as an official analytical method for clear understanding of phosphorus database for national health promotion.

The purpose of this study is to compare coverage of the September 11<SUP>th</SUP> event by media organizations in South Korea and North Korea. A comparative research of the September 11<SUP>th</SUP> event as reported by the South Korean news agency and North Korean news agency is conducted in order to compare coverage of two different countries that have different relationships with the United States. Through this comparison, the research attempts to determine the interdependent relationship of media coverage with international relationship between countries. A comparison of coverage of the September 11<SUP>th</SUP> event in the U.S. by the South and North Korean news agencies offers interesting insights into the different relationships and ideologies affecting news coverage. Because South and North Korea have different ideological systems, their media systems are quite different. North Korean media are basically derived from the journalism of Marxism and Leninism, and function as a propaganda medium and instigator. On the contrary, South Korean media have accepted the journalism of Western country. According to this study, it is possible to say that two countries that have different political ideologies and relationships with a particular third country cover international news events of that country differently. In other words, media companies tend to report international events from the same perspective as their government’s foreign policy.

A Comparative Analysis of the Objectification of Male and Female Models in Magazine Advertising

The purpose of this research is to compare the objectification of male and female models in magazine advertising by testing ads in two popular culture magazines, Maxim and Cosmopolitan. Fifty ads in each magazine are analyzed to answer five research questions. The second level of the agenda setting theory is used to explain and interpret results gained from the research. The second level of agenda setting theory is the selection of attributes for how to think about the object or issue. The attributes are the characteristics and properties that detail the image. This research contributes the amount of research done on the issues involving gender advertising. This study explains another gap in gender advertising. The implication of this study is to show how male and female models are portrayed differently in advertising in two popular culture magazines. According to the findings of this research, models are used in many different ways in advertising with sex taking the central role in advertising many different types of products.
