Vol.32 No.3

The purpose of this paper is to suggest the direction of designing content and teaching-learning methods based on artificial intelligence in the primary and secondary level. To achieve this, scoping review was carried out in the aspect of AI-based content and teaching-learning methods. The findings are as follows: (1) The components of AI literacy are composed of affective, cognitive, and psychomotor domains. (2) In the essential content for AI literacy, there are core competences, key concepts related to AI, and prerequisite subject matters. (3) The basic phase, developing phase, and in-depth phase need to be established in teaching AI literacy. (4) Teachers design activities and tasks, effectively manage peer groups, and assess their performances using AI and edutech(AI tools and AI application systems in education). From the findings, it was suggested that sustainable development goals, multiple literacies, OECD learning compass 2030, and global issues should be included systematically in the content and teaching-learning methods based on the levels of AI literacy such as the basic phase, developing phase, and in-depth phase. For example, in the basic phase corresponded to the primary level, the contents such as clean water, good health, sustainable cities, clean energy, climate action, global justice, fair trade, and so on can be included in designing syllabuses. In alignment with the contents of the level, the elements of AI literacy such as AI and ethics, AI and everyday life, AI and communication, understanding and roles of intelligent agents, senses and recognition, and so on need to be considered and designed in the aspect of scope and sequence.

Vol.- No.174

This study analyzed the experiences of autobiography production for the elderly, focusing on the voice of the autobiography writer. Specifically, by interviewing four writers belonging to a social enterprise specializing in autobiography production, the difficulties experienced during the interview and writing stages of autobiography production were identified, and the value of the autobiography production process according to the writer were explored. At the interview stage, the writer explores and shares the information necessary for autobiography production with the author through questions and answers. The writer faces the author’s “short words” and “long words” in the interview, which hinders obtaining sufficient information for autobiography. Further, in this process, the writer confirms the value of the healing and self-understanding of the interview. Conversely, at the writing stage, the writer produces an autobiography based on the author’s life, which was grasped through interviews. In writing, it is difficult for writers to represent the author’s “truth” as the author's “voice”. The writer attempts to reproduce the author’s voice by “writing dryly, avoiding lies” or “recording all the words faithfully”. In this process, the writer confirms the value of recognition and communication in writing. Finally, this study suggests four implications for the status of the autobiographic genre, identity of the autobiography writer, procedural knowledge for autobiography production, and application of autobiography production.

Local and Global Information Exchange for Enhancing Object Detection and Tracking

( Jinseok Lee ),( Shung Han Cho ),( Seong-jun Oh ),( Sangjin Hong ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2012 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.6 No.5

Object detection and tracking using visual sensors is a critical component of surveillance systems, which presents many challenges. This paper addresses the enhancement of object detection and tracking via the combination of multiple visual sensors. The enhancement method we introduce compensates for missed object detection based on the partial detection of objects by multiple visual sensors. When one detects an object or more visual sensors, the detected object`s local positions transformed into a global object position. Local and global information exchange allows a missed local object`s position to recover. However, the exchange of the information may degrade the detection and tracking performance by incorrectly recovering the local object position, which propagated by false object detection. Furthermore, local object positions corresponding to an identical object can transformed into nonequivalent global object positions because of detection uncertainty such as shadows or other artifacts. We improved the performance by preventing the propagation of false object detection. In addition, we present an evaluation method for the final global object position. The proposed method analyzed and evaluated using case studies.

Novel FFT Acquisition Scheme with Baseband Resampling for Multi-GNSS Receivers

2023 Journal of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Vol.12 No.1

A GNSS receiver must perform signal acquisition to estimate the code phase and Doppler frequency of the incoming satellite signals, which are essential information for baseband signal processing. Modernized GNSS signals have different modulation schemes and long PRN code lengths from legacy signals, which makes it difficult to acquire the signals and increases the computational complexity and time. This paper proposes a novel FFT/Inverse-FFT with baseband resampling to resolve the aforementioned challenges. The suggested algorithm uses a single block only for the FFT and thereby requires less hardware resources than conventional structures such as Double Block Zero Padding (DBZP). Experimental results based on a MATLAB simulation show this algorithm can successfully acquire GPS L1C/A, GPS L2C, Galileo E1OS, and GPS L5.

      • A new model for the prediction of the steepness profile across the strip in flat rolling

Vol.2010 No.6

In flat rolling, wavy surfaces are easily formed in the strip, causing the problem of poor flatness. The wavy surfaces may not only reduce the commercial value of the product but also lead to the breakage of the strip while passing through the roll gap. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the wave formation. In this paper, we present a new approach to the prediction of the wavy shape of the strip. The approach is based on minimization of the potential energy and adopts Ritz method as a solution technique. The approach is described in detail, with emphasis on the procedure to treat the effect of the total tension on the shape of the formed waves. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with predictions from the finite element method. Then, demonstrated is the model’s capability of reproducing various wavy surfaces that may be observed in the flat rolling mill.

Breakthrough pain and rapid-onset opioids in patients with cancer pain: a narrative review

2024 Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine Vol.41 No.1

Breakthrough pain is transitory pain that occurs despite the use of opioids for background pain control. Breakthrough pain occurs in 40% to 80% of patients with cancer pain. Despite effective analgesic therapy, patients and their caregivers often feel that their pain is not sufficiently controlled. Therefore, an improved understanding of breakthrough pain and its management is essential for all physicians caring for patients with cancer. This article reviews the definition, clinical manifestations, accurate diagnostic strategies, and optimal treatment options for breakthrough pain in patients with cancer. This review focuses on the efficacy and safety of rapid-onset opioids, which are the primary rescue drugs for breakthrough pain.
