Serous adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix: A case report of unusual case
( Jin Oh Kim ),( Jin Wook Kim ),( Woo Dae Kang ),( Ho Sun Choi ),( Seok Mo Kim ) 대한산부인과학회 2012 대한산부인과학회 학술대회 Vol.98 No.-
Serous adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix is very rare and aggressive tumor. And it`s histological appearance is similar to serous adenocarcinoma in other locations, such as ovary, endometrium, fallopian tube, and peritoneum. So in practice, spread to the cervix from a serous adenocarcinoma of endometrium or ovary must always be excluded. Because of rarity of this tumor there are brief reference to serous adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix in textbook and the literature includes small number of well documented case studies. We experienced a case of serous adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix in 49-year-old women. She presented vaginal bleeding twice. She first visited local hospital where biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma. She transferred to our hospital and underwent additional examination. The result of the Pap smear indicated adenocarcinoma, the result of HPV test indicated negative. We performed biopsy in three different places, endometrium, endocervix and exocervix. Only endocervix biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma. Pelvis MRI showed 3cm sized malignancy mass on endocervix. A laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with bilateral slapingoophorectomy, pelvic lymph node dissection was performed. The histological study revealed serous adenocarcinoma originating in the uterine endocervix. Now she is following up for 8months without recurrence. There has been reports of serous adenocarcinoma of ovary, endometrium or metastasis to uterine cervix, But serous adenocarcinoma originationg in the uterine cervix is very rare. We report a case of serous adenocarcinoma originating in the endocervix.
Case Report : Incidentally detected ganglioneuroma during pregnancy: A case report
( Jin Oh Kim ),( Yoon Ha Kim ),( Yeo Ha Kim ),( Jong Woon Kim ),( Tae Bok Song ) 대한산부인과학회 2014 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.57 No.3
Retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma is a rare benign tumor, which is included in the neuroblastomas group. It can occur anywhere along the peripheral autonomic ganglion sites, and the tumor is often incidentally detected in asymptomatic patients or may produce symptoms related to the slow growing tumor. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice and the prognosis is good. We report a case of retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma, which was incidentally detected in the first trimester of pregnancy in a 29-year-old woman. Surgical resection of the ganglioneuroma was done at the time of cesarean section at full term without complications.
The Opportunities and Barriers in Considering Cumulative Effects for Landscape Assessments
Jin-Oh Kim,Byoungwook Min 전북대학교 휴양및경관계획연구소 2018 휴양및경관연구 (J East Asian Landscape Studies) Vol.12 No.2
Cumulative effects are defined as the joint and aggregated effects of many factors and processes. Their consideration in landscape and environmental assessments are integral at both the project and strategic level, and they can help to bridge the different spatial and temporal scales. The primary challenge of conducting cumulative effect assessments (CEAs) is the difficulty in understanding the complicated nature of cumulative effects. We used three criteria for a systematic understanding of the barriers to addressing cumulative effects that are critical for improving knowledge systems for sustainable development and environmental assessment: salience, credibility, and legitimacy, and analyzed three cases through a variety of studies and resources: the Middle Humber in the U.K., the Transboundary Crown of the Continent in the U.S. and Canada, and the Great Sandhills in Canada, to understand how CEAs have been applied and obstructed in terms of the three criteria. In addition, a series of focus group interviews with experts and practitioners were performed to illuminate the critical barriers based on the criteria for addressing CEA in the context of South Korea. Based on the lessons, we suggest several key strategies such as securing a cooperative consulting process, and active and transparent partnerships; using a strategic environmental assessment as a framework; understanding and incorporating stakeholder knowledge; using advanced computer modeling and simulation techniques including effective visualization tools; and preparing a simple model design and understandable scientific information.
Framework for Task Based Design of Robot Manipulators
Jin-Oh Kim,Pradeep K. Khosla 대한전자공학회 1992 대한전자공학회 학술대회 Vol.1992 No.10
In this paper, a new design technique called Task Based Design (TBD) is proposed to design an optimal robot manipulator for a given task. Optimal design of a manipulator is difficult because it involves implicit and highly nonlinear functions of many design variables for a complex task. TBD designs an optimal manipulator which performs a given task best, by using a framework called Progressive Design which decomposes the complexity of the task into three steps: kinematic design, planning and kinematic control. An example of TBD is presented to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our framework.
