An Integrated FEM System Facilitated with Automatic Remeshing

        Zhu, Jin,Gotoh, Manabu,Shang, Jian,Sun, Zhi Gang 대한금속재료학회(대한금속학회) 1998 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.4 No.4

Heavy distortion of elements in finite clement simulation of metal forming requires many times of remeshing during the computation. These remeshings should he performed automatically for both saving computation time and convenience. In this study, a fully automatic remeshing algorithm for two dimensional (2D) quadrilateral elements has been well established. A 2D rigid-plastic FEM code facilitated with the remeshing and refinement algorithm has been developed and applied to a two stage forging process. The system exhibited good performance during the simulation.

A Study on the Development of Typhoon Track Forecast Model Based on the Past Track Data

Jin, Guo-Zhu,Song, Chae-Uk Korean Institute of Navigation and Port Research 2004 한국항해항만학회지 Vol.28 No.4

This paper is aimed to develop a mathematical model for making the forecast information of typhoon's movement such as the estimated movement direction and positions after 24 and 48 hours. The proposed model calculates such kind of information of a typhoon by similar past typhoon's track data which are selected with three similarity criteria among the database of typhoons' tracks for past fifty years. We carried out a simulation forecast with No.14 typhoon formed in 1997, and found that the results of the proposed model were reasonable and it would be suitable for a simulation system for training mariners so that they can take suitable actions to evade the typhoons.

Application Research on Mechanical Strength and Durability of Porous Basalt Concrete

        Zhu, Yuelei,Li, Jingchun,Zhu, He,Jin, Long,Ren, Qifang,Ding, Yi,Li, Jinpeng,Sun, Qiqi,Wu, Zilong,Ma, Rui,Oh, Won-Chun Materials Research Society of Korea 2022 한국재료학회지 Vol.32 No.3

Porous basalt aggregate is commonly used in roadbed engineering, but its application in concrete has rarely been studied. This paper studies the application of porous basalt in concrete. Porous basalt aggregate is assessed for its effects on mechanical strength and durability of prepared C50 concrete; because it has a hole structure, porous basalt aggregate is known for its porosity, and porous basalt aggregates can be made full of water through changing the content of saturated basalt; after full-water condition is achieved in porous basalt aggregate mixture of C50 concrete, we discuss its mechanical properties and durability. The effects of C50 concrete prepared with basalt aggregate on the compressive strength, water absorption, and electric flux of concrete specimens of different ages were studied through experiments, and the effects of different replacement rates of saturated porous basalt aggregate on the properties of concrete were also studied. The results show that porous basalt aggregate can be prepared as C50 concrete. For early saturated porous basalt aggregate concrete, its compressive strength decreases with the increase of the replacement rate of saturated aggregate; this occurs up to concrete curing at 28 d, when the replacement rate of saturated basalt aggregate is greater than or equal to 40 %. The compressive strength of concrete increases with the increase of the replacement rate of saturated aggregate. The 28 d electric flux decreases with the increase of the replacement rate of saturated aggregate, indicating that saturated porous basalt aggregate can improve the chloride ion permeability resistance of concrete in later stages.

A Robust Adaptive Controller for Markovian Jump Uncertain Nonlinear Systems with Wiener Noises of Unknown Covariance

Jin Zhu,Hong-sheng Xi,Hai-bo Ji,Bing Wang 대한전기학회 2007 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.5 No.2

A robust adaptive controller design for a class of Markovian jump parametric -strict-feedback systems is given. The disturbances considered herein include both uncertain nonlinearities and Wiener noises of unknown covariance. And they satisfy some bound-conditions. By using stochastic Lyapunov method in Markovian jump systems, a switching robust adaptive controller was obtained that guarantees global uniform ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop jump system.

      • CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASE8 Differentially Regulates Plant Immunity to Fungal Pathogens through Kinase-Dependent and -Independent Functions in Arabidopsis

        Zhu, Yingfang,Schluttenhoffer, Craig M.,Wang, Pengcheng,Fu, Fuyou,Thimmapuram, Jyothi,Zhu, Jian-Kang,Lee, Sang Yeol,Yun, Dae-Jin,Mengiste, Tesfaye American Society of Plant Biologists 2014 The Plant cell Vol.26 No.10

This work explores the intriguing roles of Mediator subunit CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASE8 (CDK8) in plant immune responses to fungal infection. CDK8 regulates jasmonate-responsive gene expression and cuticle development via interactions with MEDIATOR COMPLEX SUBUNIT25 and transcription factor WIN1, respectively, while other interactions suggest evolutionary conservation of the Mediator kinase module.

CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASE8 (CDK8) is a widely studied component of eukaryotic Mediator complexes. However, the biological and molecular functions of plant CDK8 are not well understood. Here, we provide evidence for regulatory functions of Arabidopsis thaliana CDK8 in defense and demonstrate its functional and molecular interactions with other Mediator and non-Mediator subunits. The cdk8 mutant exhibits enhanced resistance to Botrytis cinerea but susceptibility to Alternaria brassicicola. The contributions of CDK8 to the transcriptional activation of defensin gene PDF1.2 and its interaction with MEDIATOR COMPLEX SUBUNIT25 (MED25) implicate CDK8 in jasmonate-mediated defense. Moreover, CDK8 associates with the promoter of AGMATINE COUMAROYLTRANSFERASE to promote its transcription and regulate the biosynthesis of the defense-active secondary metabolites hydroxycinnamic acid amides. CDK8 also interacts with the transcription factor WAX INDUCER1, implying its additional role in cuticle development. In addition, overlapping functions of CDK8 with MED12 and MED13 and interactions between CDK8 and C-type cyclins suggest the conserved configuration of the plant Mediator kinase module. In summary, while CDK8’s positive transcriptional regulation of target genes and its phosphorylation activities underpin its defense functions, the impaired defense responses in the mutant are masked by its altered cuticle, resulting in specific resistance to B. cinerea.

A Study on the Impact of Transformational Leadership on ESG Performance in SMEs

        Zhu Jin,Huang, Fei 대한경영정보학회 2023 경영과 정보연구 Vol.42 No.1

With recent economic and social developments and scientific and technological advances, human society has made tremendous strides. Alongside the accomplishments, however, people have gradually realized that severe environmental and social problems accompany economic development and that non-financial factors such as the environment and corporate governance have become moral risks that cannot be ignored. As the fundamental unit of human economic activity and the primary social organization, enterprises are the backbone of sustainable development. ESG is a sustainable development concept that integrates environmental, social, and corporate governance. It emphasizes that enterprise development activities should pursue not only economic indicators but also consider environmental, social, and governance dimensions to achieve sustainable development of human society. ESG is the concrete manifestation of the "sustainable development concept" in the business world, serving as a guide and instrument for corporations to practice sustainable development. This paper examines, from a strategic management perspective, whether transformational leadership influences the ESG performance of corporations, whether organizational innovation mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and ESG performance, and the moderating effect of organizational ethical culture on transformational leadership and organizational innovation. The results of an analysis of 350 Chinese businesses indicate that transformational leadership has a positive effect on ESG performance, and that organizational innovation partially mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and corporate ESG performance. Furthermore, organizational ethical culture moderates the direct relationship between transformational leadership and organizational innovation and moderates the role of organizational innovation as a mediator between transformational leadership and ESG performance. This study provides valuable research on the relationship between leadership and ESG performance.

      • Poster Session : PS 0344 ; Epidemiology and Public Health : Fatty Liver and Economic Development in China

( Jin Zhou Zhu ),( Yu Ming Wang ),( Chao Hui Yu ),( You Ming Li ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1

Background: Fatty liver is a growing health issue in China. However, the research concerning the infi uence of economic development on the prevalence of fatty liver was sparse. This study is to investigate the relation between economic status and the adult prevalence of fatty liver in the mainland of China. Methods: Literature searches on PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were performed to identify eligible studies published before July 10, 2014. Gross domestic product (GDP) per capita was chosen to assess the economic status. The correlations were obtained by Pearson coeffi cient. Results: 27 studies, from 22 cities and 2 provinces from 1995 to 2013, were included in this study. In general, the prevalence of fatty liver presented a signifi cant correlation with GDP per capita (r = 0. 459, P = 0. 016). To be specifi c, the prevalence in north China correlated with GDP per capita (r = 0. 879, P = 0. 05) and survey year (r = 0. 909, P = 0. 032). In south China, on the contrary, the prevalence failed to correlate with the two indicators. According to the data from multiple years, the city of Shanghai witnessed an ascending prevalence. In terms of gender, the prevalence of female correlated with GDP per capita (r = 0. 572, P = 0. 004) and survey year (r = 0. 483, P = 0. 020). Meanwhile, there was no correlation between the prevalence of male and GDP per capita (P = 0. 129) or survey year (P = 0. 358). Conclusions: In the mainland of China, higher GDP per capita suggested higher adult prevalence of fatty liver, based on the data in the past 20 years. With the development of economy, public health interventions, thus, are essential to prevent the trend of obesity and alcohol abuse.

An Enhancer Mutant of Arabidopsis salt overly sensitive 3 Mediates both Ion Homeostasis and the Oxidative Stress Response

        Zhu, Jianhua,Fu, Xinmiao,Koo, Yoon Duck,Zhu, Jian-Kang,Jenney Jr., Francis E.,Adams, Michael W. W.,Zhu, Yanmei,Shi, Huazhong,Yun, Dae-Jin,Hasegawa, Paul M.,Bressan, Ray A. American Society for Microbiology 2007 Molecular and cellular biology Vol.27 No.14

        ABSTRACT
The myristoylated calcium sensor SOS3 and its interacting protein kinase, SOS2, play critical regulatory roles in salt tolerance. Mutations in either of these proteins render Arabidopsis thaliana plants hypersensitive to salt stress. We report here the isolation and characterization of a mutant called enh1-1 that enhances the salt sensitivity of sos3-1 and also causes increased salt sensitivity by itself. ENH1 encodes a chloroplast-localized protein with a PDZ domain at the N-terminal region and a rubredoxin domain in the C-terminal part. Rubredoxins are known to be involved in the reduction of superoxide in some anaerobic bacteria. The enh1-1 mutation causes enhanced accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), particularly under salt stress. ROS also accumulate to higher levels in sos2-1 but not in sos3-1 mutants. The enh1-1 mutation does not enhance sos2-1 phenotypes. Also, enh1-1 and sos2-1 mutants, but not sos3-1 mutants, show increased sensitivity to oxidative stress. These results indicate that ENH1 functions in the detoxification of reactive oxygen species resulting from salt stress by participating in a new salt tolerance pathway that may involve SOS2 but not SOS3.
