A 26-year-old man. who had undergone three times open heart surgeries including tricuspid mechanical valve replacement 4 months before, with general weakness and mild dyspnea was admitted. He presented a third degree atrioventricular block on the electrocardiogram and required permanent pacemaker implant. We successfully implanted a permanent pacemaker transvenously with a ventricular lead introduced into the great cardiac vein via coronary sinus to stimulate the left ventricle, an atrial lead in the right atrium, and his symptoms improved.
삼천포 화력발전소 연안의 플랑크톤상을 중심으로한 해양 환경

Impacts of the power plant operation located in the coastal area of Samchonpo were investgated in the view point of the population dynamics of zoo -and phytoplankton five times seasonally during the period from August 7 1990 to August 27 1991. Ninty nine taxa of phytoplankton, representing 2 forma, 1 variety, 79 species and 17 unidentified species belonging to 39 genera were tentatively identified. Phytoplankton standing crops varied with months and stations ranging from 5.8×104cells /l (November 1990, station 5) to 4.83×106cells /l (May 1991, station 4) in surface, ranging from 2.9×105cells /l (Novemver 1990, station 5) to 5.90×106cells /l (May 1991, station 4) in bottom. Dominant species through the present study were Chaetoceros compressus and C. curvisetus in August 1990, Nitzschia pungens in November, Eucampia zodiacus and Skeletonema costatum in February 1991, Leptocylindrus danicus in May, and S. costatum and S. tropicum in August. Causative organisms of red -tide due to diatoms were 24 taxa. Among them, six species occurred throughout the year ; Chaetoceros debilis, Cylindrotheca closterium, Guinardia flaccida, Nitzschia pungens, Rhizosolenia setigera and Skeletonema costatum. Chlorophyll -α was fluctuated ranging from 6.18mg /m3 (August 1990, station 1) to 23. 77mg /m3(February 1991, station 4) in surface, This value of chlorophyll -a might be assumed that eutrophication occurred in studied waters. Twenty two taxa of zooplankton communities, representing 14 copepods, 4 cladocerans, 2 chaetognaths, 1 protozoan and 1 appendicularian were identified. Zooplankton abundance varied with months and stations ranging from 1,677 indiv./m3 to 18,057 indiv./m3.

The present study analyzed change in golf players' performance and their immersion in sports according to golf rounding environment and change in golf players' performance according to their immersion in sports, with the object of providing basic materials for improving the quality of golf participants' golf activities. The subjects of this study were golfers who had just finished their golf rounding, A total of 250 golfers were selected through random sampling. Data were analyzed statistically through factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and regression. First, the condition of golf course and fairway and the manner of companions affect the player's psychological expectation in the golf rounding, preference for golf, desire to play golf, and perception on golf. Second, weather, the condition of golf course and fairway, the difficulty of golf course and the manner of companions affect the player's psychologcal expectation in the golf rounding, preference for golf, desire to play golf, perception on golf, information about golf, and interest in golf related imaginary acts. Third, immersion in acts according to the type of golf rounding was higher in competition than in leisure, This suggests that golf players who play golf for competition is more interested in golf acts than those who play for leisure. Fourth, golfers' performance is expected to be higher ft they have a good sleep on the previous night, if the condition of golf course and tee ground is satisfactory, and if they play with well-mannered companions. A modified Kohonen's self-organizing feature map (SCL) algorithm which has binary reinforcement function and a constant learning rate is proposed. In contrast to the time-varing adaptaion gain of the original Kohonen's SCL algorithm, the proposed algorithm uses a constant adaptation gain, and adds a binary reinforcement function in order to compensate for the lowered learning ability of SCL due to the constant learning rate. Since the proposed algorithm does not have the complicated multiplication, it's digital hardware implementation is much easier than that of the original SCL.

Objectives: 32 P-postlabeling assay is the most sensitive method of detecting DNA adduct formation. However, it is limited by a low sample throughput and use of radioisotopes (RI). In this study, we modified it to minimize these limitations and applied it to Z. platypus exposed to Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) in order to investigate DNA adduct formation (effect biomarker for pollutants) in Z. platypus for assessing risk of waterborne BaP exposure. Methods: DNA hydrolysis was performed only with Micrococcal nuclease (MNase), RI reduction test was performed and the overlapping steps between thin layer chromatography (TLC) and radioisotope high-performance liquid chromatography (RI-HPLC) were omitted. The application of a modified method to Z. platypus exposed to BaP was performed. Results: The results revealed that the amount of RIs used can be reduced roughly 10-fold. Because the analysis time was shortened by 8.5 hours, the sample throughput per hour was increased compared with the previous method. The results of applying modified 32 P-postlabeling assay to Z. platypus, DNA adduct formation in Z. platypus showed dose-dependency with the BaP concentration. Only BPDE-dGMP was detected as a DNA adduct. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that the modified 32 P-postlabeling assay is a suitable method for detecting DNA adduct formation in Z. platypus exposed to waterborne BaP and will be useful in risk assessment of carcinogenic effect in aquatic environment due to BaP.
