        Conceptual Study for Tissue-Regenerative Biodegradable Magnesium Implant Integrated with Nitric Oxide-Releasing Nanofi bers

        The excessive initial corrosion rate of Mg is a critical limitation in the clinical application of biodegradable Mg implantsbecause the device loses its fi xation strength before the fractured bone heals. This study suggests a new approach to overcomethis hurdle by accelerating tissue regeneration instead of delaying the implant biodegradation. As angiogenesis is anessential process in early bone regeneration, a Mg implant coated with electrospun nanofi bers containing nitric oxide (NO),which physiologically promotes angiogenesis, is designed. The integrated device enables adjustable amounts of NO to bestored on the NO donor-conjugated nanofi ber coating, stably delivered, and released to the fractured bone tissue near theimplanted sites. An in vitro corrosion test reveals no adverse eff ect of the released NO on the corrosion behavior of the Mgimplant. Simultaneously, the optimal concentration level of NO released from the implant signifi cantly enhances tube networkformation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells without any cytotoxicity problem. This indicates that angiogenesis canbe accelerated by combining NO-releasing nanofi bers with a Mg implant. With its proven feasibility, the proposed approachcould be a novel solution for the initial stability problem of biodegradable Mg implants, leading to successful bone fi xation.

        This study investigates the influence of cane length on the weight distribution of the elderly in a standing position. Thirsty participants were evaluated using two different cane lengths based on measurements of distal wrist crease to ground (WC cane), and distance of greater trochanter to ground (GT cane). A limloader was used to determine the weight distribution on the subject. It was found that 6.5% of body weight was supported on a GT cane and 7.7% of body weight supported on a WC cane in a standing position. Results suggests that more weight is distributed on a WC cane than a GT cane in the elderly.

      • 부착규조류를 이용한 천안천의 생물학적 수질평가

        충청남도 천안시에 위치한 천안천을 대상으로 상류에서 하류까지 3개 정점에 대하여 2009년 4월에 부착규조류 군집과 생물학적 수질평가(Biological water quality)를 실시하였다. 천안천의 부착규조류는 총 30분류군이 출현하였으며, 대부분 Navicula와 Nitzschia 속에 속하는 분류군으로서 유기오염 선호종(Saprophilous species)들이 출현하였다. 우점좀과 아우점종으로는 Nitzschia palea와 Navicula pupula가 모든 정점에서 출현하였으며, 약 50%의 높은 우점율을 나타냈다. 생물학적 수질평가는 상류에서 하류까지 α중부수성(α-mesosaprobic) 에서 β중부수성(β-mesosaprobic)으로 천안천은 유입 유역으로부터 심한 오염부하를 받는것으로 판단된다. This research was to assess the biological water quality and epilithic diatoms community from 3 sites in Cheonan-stream located at Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do on April 2009. As a result, total of 30 taxa of diatoms appeared. Most taxa found were Saporophilous species such as Navicula and Nitzschia. Dominant species and subdominant species, Nitzschia palea and Navicula pupula appeared in all sites showing high relative frequency of about 50%. As a result of the biological water quality assessment, Cheonan-stream was found to be alpha mesosaprobic to beta mesosaprobic from upstream to downstream, receiving pollutant load from the basin.

        두피에 발생한 유상피 혈관육종 1예

        Angiosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor of endothelial cell origin. Histopathologically, varied differentiation may be observed even within the same tumor. Epithelioid angiosarcoma is one subset of poorly differentiated angiosarcoma which is a rare variant. We report a case of epithelioid angiosarcoma of the scalp in a 59-year-old man. The patient had a painful solitary, 2×3 cm sized, dome-shaped, firm, erythematous to purplish nodule with crust on the vertex of the scalp. Histopathologically, the tumor was chiefly composed of solid sheets of atypical epithelioid cells with prominent eosinophilic cytoplasm, a large vesicular nuclei, and occasional intracytoplasmic vacuoles. Well to moderately differentiated areas with irregular vascular channel-like structures lined by atypical hyperchromatic endothelial cells were also seen in the peripheral areas of the tumor. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive with CD31 which is sensitive marker of endothelial cell. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(7) : 971~973)

      • 吸光度測定에 대한 DDVP·Fenitrothion製劑의 分離定量에 관한 硏究

        It is studied that the differential determination of DDVP in phosphate(combination of P=O) and Fenitrothion in thiophosphate(combination of P=S) by absorbance spectrophotometry. DDVP is determined by absorbance of colored reaction products that is produced to reaction of acetophenone under the basic condition and thiophosphate compounds is determined by absorbance of Pd·fenitrothion complex that is colored NDA. It examined the optimum reaction condition while DDVP reacted acetophenone under the basic condition and fenitrothion reacted Pd(Ⅱ)and NDA. It obtained maximum absorbance wave-length, it examined with regard to effect by acetophenone concentration, effect of concentration of PdCl_2, effect by concentration of NDA, effect of reaction temperature and heating time and effect of pH on absorbance of reaction products. Determination of DDVP and fenitrothion were possible to the range of DDVP 25-125㎍/㎖ and fenitrothion 1.0-5.0㎍/㎖. The analytical result were mean, 100.15 and standard deviation, 0.47 to DDVP, mean, 100.07 and standard deviation, 0.41 to fenitrothion. The method was applicable to the determination of DDVP and fenitrothion preparations.

        Elementary science textbooks are the major instructional materials which contain sceientific objectives to be acquired by students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development system, to evaluate the inquiry activity in current elementary science testbooks, and to make suggestions for the improvement of them. The questionnaires were administered to 116 subjects that participated in development of the 5th elementary science textbooks, and 86 of the subjects responded. Based on the data gathered and analyzed in this study, the major findings are as follows. First, regarding the analysis and evaluation of elementary science textbooks. 1. The instructional objectives in elementary science textbooks are analyzed. The proportions of comprehension objectives is 38%, scientific inquiry process objectives 21%, experimental skills objectives 7%, scientific attitudes and interests objectives 4%. 2. The science concepts in elementary science textbooks of the 3rd grade required the preconcrete operational level(82%) and of the 6rd grade required the postconcrete operational level (73%) by J. Piaget. 3. The inquiry activities in elementary science textbooks are emphasizing gathering and organizing results and evaluation, and hypothesizing and designing an experiment. Inquiry index of the elementary science textbooks is 76. This is significantly higher than 35∼50 of America and U.K. 4. The number of questions per class hour is mostly three, and most of them require the students to explain phenomena in nature or in experiment Second, regarding the development system of elementary science textbooks. 1. The budget for and the period of the development of elementary science textbook should be expanded. 2. For the improvement of elementary science textbooks, more abundant resources and time should be used for the basic study and the field trial of textbooks. 3. The elementary science textbook must include the affective objectives as well as the scientific knowledges and scientific inquiry skills. 4. It is not desirable to assign equal number of pages to the content of physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science. 5. Closer cooperation system is needed among the ministry of education, development research center and the field trial schools.

        The effects of alkali treatment to fly ash powder coming in to being artificial zeolite were soil chemical investigated by amount of treat and during on days There was no significant difference in chemical properties between artificial zeolite and particle artificial zeolite. pH and EC value in treatments soils were high known by application with fly ash and artificial zeolite of amount increased. The amount of Av.P_(2)O_(5) adsorption capacity with artificial zeolite known higher than fly ash. In the case of amount of Ex-K, Ca, Mg were detect range between artificial zeolite and particle artificial zeolite. Artificial zeolite application with treatments in soils showed being contrary to each NH_(4)-N other NO_(3)-N for content therefore it is clear that application of particle artificial zeolite product should be more effective than of the artificial zeolite powder for soil condition.
