        The nonlinear relationship between storage and discharge exists in most actual river systems, making the use of the linear model inappropriate. This paper is to present a procedure that enables the nonlinear model or Characteristic Grid Method to deal effectively with the latter type of boundary condition and to compare the accuracy between hydrologic model and hydraulic mode. The conclusions drawn from this study are: 1. The hydrologic methods are less accurate than the hydraulic mode, namely, characteristic method. 2. Results of input for the simulation cases such as Muskingum Method, S.F.M and Characteristic Method, Characteristic Method was showed promising, and it was approved to be used for prediction of the basins.

        Locoregional recurrence is the most common type of recurrence in surgical operation of gastric adenocarcinoma, and peritoneal dissemination is one of the most difficult problems in advanced gastric adenocarcinoma treatment. Because the peritoneal cavity is the most common site of the first recurrence after gastric cancer resection, intraperitoneal chemotherapy seems a logical choice for cancer chemotherapy. In this study, Mitomycin C (MMC)-activated charcoal (CH)-alginate (ALG) beads were prepared by the mixtures of CH particles adsorbed with MMC as an anti-cancer drug and aqueous alginate solution. The alginate is recognized as biodegradable, nontoxic, and biocompatible. The release of MMC from the beads in 0.1 M Tris buffer was stable and continuous until about 1 week. The MMC-CH-ALG beads can be applied in the peritoneal cavity for intraperitoneal chemotherapy since they provide a good adhesiveness on the tissue and controlled release pattern of the drugs.

        Estimation of landfill leachate generation is main issue that determain leachate collection system and scale of disposal system. Other reason is indirect estimation of damage of collection, drainage and disposal system for generation difference and control. The subject of this study is that Sudogwon landfill site #1 is landfill closure site. Actual leachate start 493 m^(3)/day at Jan. 1993 and maintain 5,000∼7,000 m^(3)/day after 1997. The other side estimation from HELP Model is 3,000∼6,000 m^(3)/day for same period. But concerned with condensation water and compression by increased layers, historical actual leachate geneation and estimation from HELP Model are similar.

        The purpose of this study is to establish the effective direction of development in the coastal zone of Pusan and understand the concept of water front which recently employed to analyze the area of city near the sea. It has been discussed about the present condition, the problem of application of Water-front, and the direction of development in the area of shore using the concept of Water-front. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that Pusan would be the pivot of Asian and Pacific zone with Pusan harbor if the concept of Water-front and the plan of its employment is carefully arranged.

      • 급성 골수성 백혈병 환자에서 관해 유도 항암 화학요법 후 발생한 베르니케 뇌증

        Wernicke's encephalopathy is characterized by the triad of ocular symptoms, ataxia, and mental confusion and neuropsychiatric condition generally caused by acute thiamine deficiency. Although it is common in the severe alcoholics, several other causes also have been identified, such as total parenteral nutrition (TPN) use, hyperemesis gravidarum, anorexia nervosa, hemodialysis, uremia, and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS). Chemotherapy in patient with malignanacy and long term total parenteral nutrition following bone marrow transplantation are related with Wernicke's encephalopathy. A 48-year-old woman had been treated with Daunorubicin and Cytarabine for remission induction chemotherapy of acute myeloblastic leukemia and intravenous hyperalimentation due to persistent hematochezia and ileus caused by infiltration of leukemic cell in terminal ileum. She suddenly complained of diplopia, tremor, and mental confusion at 32th day after chemotherapy and generalized tonic-clonic seizure at 34th day after chemotherapy. The diagnosis of Wernicke's encephalopathy was made with clinical presentations and brain MRI. Brain MR T2-weighted & Flair image revealed a high signal intensity lesions bilaterally at the medial thalamus and peri-acueductal grey matter of the midbrain. The patient was successfully treated with vitamin B1. We presented a case of acute Wernicke's encephalopathy developed after remission induction chemotherapy followed by intravenous hyperalirnentation in a patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia.

      • 광주지역 태양열 온수 급탕시스템에 관한 연구

        One way to reduce abroad dependence for energy is to utilize solar energy when we are now confronted with not only insufficiency of natural resources but also the serious problems of environmental pollution. Therefore, full attention must now be paid to the development of solar energy system as alternative energy resource. To achieve this, solar hot water heating system was established at Chosun university, Gwang-ju. and experimental data were obtained based on meteorological data and solar radiation. This study has used the monthly mean values of the daily measurements obtained by data acquisition software Labview. Experimental study shows Gwang-ju is a good region for the utilization of solar energy.

      • 당뇨병 백서의 간세포에서 Glucokinase 활성도 및 유전자 발현에 대한 인슐린의 영향

        목적 당대사의 조절 상태에 따른 생체 변화를 분자 수준에서 이해하고자 식이 조건을 달리한 정상 백서와 화학적으로 유도된 당뇨병 백서의 간조직에서 혈당수준과 인슐린치료 정도에 따라 나타나는 글루코키나제 활성도 및 유전자 발현을 분석하였다. 방법 스트렙토조토신 정맥투여 후 당뇨병의 유발을 확인하고, 인슐린을 1일 3회 3일간 복강내로 투여하여 상태를 안정시킨 후, 인슐린 투여군은 인슐린 투여 6시간이내에 그리고 인슐린 비투여군은 24시간 후 단두하여 채혈하고 복강을 열어 간조직을 채취하였다. 채취한 간조직에서 글루코키나제 활성도는 인산화된 포도당에서 NADH의 형성을 형광분광계로 측정하였으며, 글루코키나제 유전자 mRNA발현은 Northern 분석법을 이용하였다. 성적 정상 백서에서 공복상태와 식이를 섭취한 경우에 간조직의 글루코키나제 효소의 활성은 차이가 없었으나, 글루코키나제 유전자 mRNA 발현은 증가되었다. 당뇨병이 유발된 백서의 간조직에서 글루코키나제 효소의 활성 및 글루코키나제 유전자의 mRNA 발현은 정상 백서에 비하여 낮았다. 인슐린 투쳐 후 글루코키나제 효소의 활성 및 글루코키나제 유전자의 mRNA 발현이 증가되었고, 특히 혈당이 정상화된 경우에서 글루코키나제 유전자의 mRNA 발현이 증가도었다. 결론 인슐린에 의한 간조직에서 글루코키나제 효소의 활성 및 글루코키나제 유전자의 mRNA을 증가를 볼수 있었다. 당뇨병 백서에서 인슐린 투여 후에 혈당조절이 안된 경우 간조직의 글루코키나제 유전자의 mRNA 발현이 증가가 없는 것으로 보아 글루코키나제 mRNA의 발현에는 인슐린 이외의 다른 요소가 관여할 것으로 생각된다. The liver-specific hexokinase isoenzyme, referred to as glucokinase, is thought to play a key reglulatory role in hepatic glucose metabolism. The glucokinase gene is, therefore, of interest both because of its tissue-specific expression and because of the several regulatory processes that can be analyzed. The level of hepatic glucokinase activity appears to be determined essentially by regulation of the rate of enzyme synthesis, with insulin playing a leading role as an inducer. We investigated the role of insulin for the induction of glucokinase in the liver of diabetic rats. Experimental diabetes was induced by injection of streptozotocin 7 days before the experiment. Regular insulin was given by three days intraperitoneal injection at 8-h interval. The glucokinase mRNA in the liver was estimated by Nothern blot assay, as well as by fluorometric enzyme activity assay. Glucokinase activity was not reduced in the liver of normal fasting rats as compared to normal fed rats. And glucokinase activity was reduced in the liver of diabetic rats as compared to normal rats. In diabetic rats treated with insulin, glucokinase enzyme activity were increased. But glucokinase mRNA expression was only increased in normoglycemic diabetic rat with treated with insulin as compared to hyperglycemic rat. These data indicate that insulin stimulates hepatic glucokinase enzyme activity and mRNA expression. But other hormonal or metabolic factors may be contribute to regulation of glucokinase mRNA expression.

      • 하천의 계획홍수위 결정에 관한 연구

        Analysis of open-channel flow is needed for the planning, design, and operation of water-resource project. The use of computers and the availability of efficient computational procedures have simplified such analysis as well as making it possible to handle complex and complicated systems. If the flow velocity at a given point does not change with respect to time, then the flow is called steady flow. however, if the velocity at g given location changes with respect to time, then the flow is called unsteady flow And a given instant of time does not change within a given length of channel, then uniform flow, at a time varies with respect to distance, then nonuniform flow, or varied flow. The steady and unsteady flows are characterized by the variation with respect to time at a given location, whereas the uniform and varied flows are characterized by the variation at a given instant of time with respect to distance. Thus, in a steady-uniform flow, the total derivative dv/dt=0. In one-dimensional flow, this means that ∂v=∂t=0, and ∂v/Xx=0. In this study, to analyze the flood flow profile characteristics and to apply in the man-made and the natural channel, uniform flow by slope-area method, nonuniform flow by standard step method(HEC-2 model) and unsteady flow by four point implicit method was investigated in this study. The weighted four point implicit method and Newton-Raphson method were used to solve the finite difference equations corresponding to the St. Venant equations for unsteady flow. The conclusions drawn from this study are: 1. Information about the input for the man-made channel simulation cases such as unsteady, nonuniform and uniform flow, given by defining a goodness of fit criterion D. Their rates were 0%, 13.4% and 18.7%, respectively. The natural channel cases were -3.9%, 0% and -0.8%. 2. The attenuation of the flood peak is getting larger as friction factoris increased. It was also shown that Froude's number is strongly dependant upon the channel slope and frict.

        Today, a broad comprehension of society for the disabled persons has been increased with the industrial development and sustained economic growth. But unequal elements of social environment have bring about many constraints for the daily living of disabled, and turn out a major causes that can not so much as guarantee their own legal rights. The establishment of facilities which guarantee the free approach and movement of disabled persons in the campus is the first way that minimizes the distinct elements which restrict educational opportunity with obstacles, and acts a part as improvement for the quality of disabled with their positive social participation. In this study, we want to propose the improved schemes that minimize the physical obstacles of educational facilities through the analysis of problems and situations which are obtained from the investigation of the actual conditions for the facilities of disabled in the yeungnam college of science and technology. And we wish to use the results of this paper as a basic data for the future construction plan of campus.
