        Electrostatic Charging Measurement and PVC Separation of Triboeletrostatically Charged Plastic Particles using a Fluidized Bed Tribocharger

        A particle flow visualization, electrostatic charging measurement and separation of triboelectrically charged particles in the external electric field by a fluidized bed tribocharger are conducted for the removal of PVC particles from mixed waste plastics. The laboratory-scale triboelectrostatic separation system consists of the fluidized bed tribocharger, a separation chamber, a collection chamber and a controller. PVC and PET particles can be imparted negative and positive surface charges respectively due to the difference of triboelectric charging series between particles and particles in the fluidized bed tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. To visualize these charged particles, He-Ne laser is used with cylindrical lenses to generate a sheet beam. In the charging measurement, the particle motion analysis system (PMAS), capable of determining particle velocity and diameter, is used to non-intrusively measure particle behavior in high strength electric field. The average charge-to-mass ratios of PVC and PET particles are -1.4 and 1.2 ??C/kg, respectively. The highly concentrated PVC (91.9%) can be recovered with a yield of about 96.1% from the mixture of PVC and PET materials for a single-stage processing. The triboelectrostatic separation system using the fluidized tribocharger shows the potential to be an effective method for removing PVC from mixed plastics for waste plastic trecycling.

        Development of Vitamin D Determination in Infant Formula by Column-Switching HPLC with UV Detector

        This study was carried out to develop an analytical method for the determination of vitamin D in infant formula. Vitamin D was determined by column-switching high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipped with a reversed phase column and UV detector after saponification and extraction of the formula with an organic solvent. A preseparation column ($C_8$), focusing column ($C_{18}$), analytical column ($C_{18}$) and UV-Vis detector (254 nm) were used. The limits of detection (LOD) and the limits of quantification (LOQ) for vitamin D were estimated to be $1.51{\mu}g/kg$ and $4.95{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. The linearity, recovery, precision and accuracy of the analytical method for vitamin D were evaluated through the application of a SRM (Standard Reference Material) 1846 (National Institute of Standard & Technology, USA). The linearity of this method was calculated with a value of the coefficient of determination ($r^2$) ${\geq}0.9999$. The recovery of vitamin D was $85.20{\pm}3.00%$. The intra-assay precision for vitamin D was between $1.68{\pm}0.03%$ and $5.75{\pm}0.33%$, and the inter-assay precision for vitamin D ranged from $1.73{\pm}0.03%$ to $2.96{\pm}0.09%$. The intra-assay accuracy for vitamin D was between $100.03{\pm}2.77%$ and $102.01{\pm}0.59%$, and the inter-assay accuracy for vitamin D ranged from $99.00{\pm}1.53%$ to $102.01{\pm}3.04%$. The proposed method is optimal for the separation and quantification of vitamin D from infant formula.

        Most enterprises have been trying to improve the quality of service because consumers want to receive good services. Quality of service can be analyzed by two components. The first is objective quality and the second is perceived quality. The objective quality is analyzed and evaluated by techniques of the Service Blueprint or the SPD(Service Problem Deployment), etc. But the perceived quality is very difficult to analyze because the perceived quality is subjectively evaluated by customer who receive the service. In this paper, we introduce the concept of service laboratory based on VR technology to analyze and evaluate the quality of service. Service laboratory is a space to experiment a service. Also, to show the usability of the service laboratory, we apply it to the development of a new service, an unmanned store for used car sales.

        Strategic Role of ICT for E-Education

        The daunting challenge thai today's educational organizations face is how to improve academic quality while containing or reducing costs. This paper discusses major changes in the educational environment and ICT-based course improvement efforts; examines some successful cases for course redesign, and proposes an e-education strategy for an educational institution to use ICT strategically in order to achieve both academic quality improvement and cost reduction together. 모든 대학들이 예외없이 경쟁력 강화에 전력을 다하고 있는 현실에서 교육의 질 향상과 비용절감은 대학들이 당면하고 있는 긴급하고도 중대한 과제이다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은 변화하는 대학교육환경, 정보통신기술(ICT)을 바탕으로 한 교육 개선 방법들, 그리고 교과목 개편의 성공적 사례들에 대한 기술을 한 후에 질 향상과 비용절감을 동시에 추구하려는 e-Education 실행을 위하여 어떻게 ICT를 이용해야 하는가에 대한 전략적 틀을 제시한다.

        차량 번호판 인식 시스템은 차량 보급의 대중화와 그에 따라 발생되는 여러문제의 해결차원에서 활발하게 연구 개발되고 있는 분야이다. 본 논문에서는 휴대용 입력 장치로부터 획득한 차량 번호판 영상에서 차량 번호판이 가지는 특성을 이용하여 번호판을 추출한 후, 차량 번호판의 특성을 이용하여 개별 문자 영역들의 MBR(Minimum Boundary Rectangle)을 추출한다. 그리고, 불변 모멘트의 특징을 이용하여 기존의 템플릿 매칭 방식 보다 연산시간이 매우 빠르고 입력 영상내의 번호판 크기에 제약이 적은 장점을 가진 보다 향상된 차량 번호판 인식 시스템을 제안한다.

      • 가상 현실 기반의 서비스 실험을 위한 서비스 프로세스 모델링 프레임워크 개발

        Many developed countries are considering the research and development of services as a key factor to improve the competitiveness of nations. Because of the invisibility and intangibility of a service, it is very hard to search the optimal process and parameters of the service before its launch. As an effort to verify the process and to evaluate the quality in the design stage of the new service, we are constructing the service laboratory which contains a virtual reality(VR) room, related equipments and operation methods and tools. As the first step to construct the service laboratory specialized for testing services, this study proposes the modeling framework of service process (MFSP) which contains the sub-framework for communication(SFC) between customers and service providers and that for the implementation(SFI). The SFC represents the activities of customers and service providers and the experimental alternative used in the decision making situation of the service experiment. The SFI is a modeling and analysis tool to describe the technical factors required for implementing several service scenarios defined by the combination of the experimental alternatives from the SFC. In other words, it represents the input/output data of customers and service providers, the virtual reality data such as scene and sound describing service spaces, and the detailed service process. This study is still ongoing and should consider the practical problems such as the applicability and generality to check the validity of the proposed framework.

        페닐기 함유 열경화성 폴리유기실록산 코팅제 특성

        Dimethyldimethoxysilane(DMDMS), methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS)과 phenyltrimethoxysilane(PTMS)을 이용하여 폴리유기실록산 열 경화성 코팅액을 제조하고 가교도와 페닐기 함량이 코팅액과 도막 물성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. Si-NMR 측정에서 얻어진 D T<SUP>Me</SUP> T<SUP>Ph</SUP> 구조 코팅액 조성비가 사용된 DMDMS, MTMS, PTMS의 몰 비로부터 얻어진 이론치와 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다. 가교밀도가 높을수록 그리고 페닐 함량이 낮을수록 실록산 결합의 증가에 의하여 코팅액 분자량이 증가됨을 알 수 있으며 페닐기 증가는 코팅액 굴절률 증가에 매우 큰 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 가교밀도가 높을수록, 페닐기 함량이 감소할수록 코팅도막 경도는 증가되었으며 내열특성 또한 우수해짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로부터 같은 실록산 결합을 갖는 폴리유기실록산 코팅제라도 치환도에 따른 가교도 조절과 페닐기 함량에 따라 코팅액 물성이 달라짐을 확인할 수 있었다. Polyorganosiloxane having controlled cross-linking density and phenyl group content were prepared by dimethyldimethoxysilane(DMDMS), methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) and phenyltrimethoxysilane (PTMS). The effect of cross-linking density and phenyl group content on the physical properties of siloxane resin and its coated film have been invetigated. Si-NMR results confirmed that synthesized siloxane resins have equivalent D T<SUP>Me</SUP> T<SUP>Ph</SUP> structures according to applied mole ratios of DMDMS, MTMS and PTMS. Polyorganosiloxane having higher cross-linking density with high phenyl content showed the high molecular weight and increasing phenyl content resulted in higher refractive index as well as better thermal stability. Cross-linking density is more important factor than phenyl content to obtain higher pencil hardness of coated film on the glass. Our results concluded that even polyorganosiloxanes having similar siloxane structures show different physical properties as function of cross-linking density and phenyl content in polyorganosiloxane.
