The Miocene aged Shanwang Formation from the Shanwang National Geopark in China represents a succession of lacustrine diatomaceous shales containing an abundant and diverse biota with lagerstätte fossilization of soft tissues. To date, the Shanwang Formation has not been investigated for cyclostratigraphy nor has it been dated with high precision methods. Now we use thorium data as a paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic proxy to conduct a detailed cyclostratigraphic analysis. A new and simple cyclostratigraphic method, Wavelet Scale Series Analysis (WSSA) is developed to recognize Milankovitch cycles. A total of three short eccentricity and fifteen precession cycles are identified; obliquity cycles are not apparent. In the sedimentary succession, the corresponding precession and short eccentricity cycles are 1.17 m and 4.98 m thick respectively, with this verified by Correlation Coefficient (COCO) analysis and Multitaper-Method (MTM) spectral analysis. We estimate the studied interval was deposited over a duration of 0.3 Myr with a depositional rate of c. 5.7 cm/kyr. Paleomagnetic and radio isotope dating data shows that the diatomaceous shale was deposited during Chron C5En, which places it at approximately 18.5 Ma during the Burdigalian stage of the Early Miocene, rather than in the Middle Miocene as previously thought. The Shanwang lagerstätte biota therefore predates the Middle Miocene Climate Optimum (MMCO) and did not form within it. The geological time scale with a high resolution of 20 kyr was set accordingly.

Relative deficiency in production of glycoprotein hormone erythropoietin (Epo) is a major cause of renal anemia. This study planned to investigate whether the hypoxia-regulated system of Epo expression, constructed by fusing Epo gene to the chimeric phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) hypoxia response elements (HRE) in combination with cytomegalovirus immediate-early (CMV IE) basal gene promoter and delivered by plasmid intramuscular injection, might provide a long-term physiologically regulated Epo secretion expression to correct the anemia in adenine-induced uremic rats. Plasmid vectors (pHRE-Epo) were synthesized by fusing human Epo cDNA to the HRE/CMV promoter. Hypoxia-inducible activity of this promoter was evaluated first in vitro and then in vivo in healthy and uremic rats (n = 30 per group). The vectors (pCMV-Epo) in which Epo expression was directed by a constitutive CMV gene promoter served as control. ANOVA and Student’s t-test were used to analyze between-group differences. A high-level expression of Epo was induced by hypoxia in vitro and in vivo. Though both pHRE-Epo and pCMV-Epo corrected anemia, the hematocrit of the pCMV-Epo-treated rats exceeded the normal (P < 0.05), but that of the pHRE-Epo-treated rats didn’t. Hypoxia-regulated system of Epo gene expression constructed by fusing Epo to the HRE/CMV promoter and delivered by plasmid intramuscular injection may provide a long-term and stable Epo expression and secretion in vivo to correct the anemia in adenine-induced uremic rats.

Jifeng Guo,Honge Ren,Zhiqiang Ma,Yan Ma 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.6
Vehicle horn is a kind of electro acoustic device. The energy transfer process were analyzed through the energetic coil current, magnetic force, and displacement curves which had gotten before, and the process was happened in stage of the action, transaction and reciprocating vibration. The reasonable criterion for checking reciprocating vibration and sounding of horn was proposed, and the criterion was proved by changed the design parameters. The conclusions are of great value for further optimizing of reliability of the electro acoustic device such as electromagnetic horn.

This paper deals with the existence and energy estimates of solutions for a class of degenerate nonlocal problems involving sub-linear nonlinearities, while the nonlinear part of the problem admits some hypotheses on the behavior at origin or perturbation property. In particular, for a precise localization of the parameter, the existence of a non-zero solution is established requiring the sublinearity of nonlinear part at origin and infinity. We also consider the existence of solutions for our problem under algebraic conditions with the classical Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz. In what follows, by combining two algebraic conditions on the nonlinear term which guarantees the existence of two solutions as well as applying the mountain pass theorem given by Pucci and Serrin, we establish the existence of the third solution for our problem. Moreover, concrete examples of applications are provided.

An implicit tax is a reduction in the pretax rate of return driven by tax preferences. With increasingly stringent requirements of sustainable development, Chinese government actively promotes environmental protection with the direct corporate income tax rate preferences, which provide a unique opportunity to examine whether implicit taxes remain a significant tax cost in the environmental protection industry. This paper finds the existence of implicit taxes in environmental protection firms and the market structure impedes the realization of implicit taxes. The market power and market concentration reduce the negative effect of tax preferences on the firm’s pretax rate of return. The environmental protection firms with lower competition bear lower implicit taxes. These findings are important to evaluate the effectiveness of the tax incentives on environmental protection firms and other tax-favored industries.
A reliable elasticity sensing method for analysis of cell entosis using microfluidic cytometer
Jifeng Ren,Lei Fan 대한의용생체공학회 2023 Biomedical Engineering Letters (BMEL) Vol.13 No.2
Cell entosis is a novel cell death process starting from cell-in-cell invasion. In general, cancer cells own higher incidencerate of cell entosis comparing to non-cancerous cells. Studies arguing whether cell entosis is a tumor suppressing processor a tumor accelerating process can deepen our understanding of tumor development. Cell elasticity is recognized as one oftumor malignant biomarkers. There have been some researchers studying cell elasticity in cell entosis. However, existingcell elasticity sensing technique (i.e. micropipette aspiration) can hardly be reliable neither high-throughput. In this work, weintroduce an elasticity sensing method for quantifying both cell elasticity in cell-in-cell structures and single floating cellsusing a microfluidic cytometer. We not only argue our cell elasticity sensing method is reliable for already occurred entosisbut also apply such method on predicting the “outer” cells in entosis of different cell types. The elasticity sensing methodproposed in this manuscript is able to provide an effective and reliable way to further study deeper mechanism in cell entosis.
