        Association between FGFRs and the susceptibility of digestive and reproductive system cancers in Chinese population

        Fibroblast growth factors(FGFs) and their receptors (FGFRs) modulate a wide range of biological functions, especially tumor genesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association of FGFR expression with the susceptibility of digestive system and reproductive system cancers in Chinese population. In total, 343 patients with digestive or reproductive system cancers were enrolled in this study. The expression levels of four highly-conserved FGFRs including FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4 were measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The expression levels of FGFRs were compared between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues. FGFR1 expression significantly differed between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in colon and gastric cancers. FGFR2 expression significantly differed between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in esophageal cancer. FGFR3 expression was significantly different between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in liver and gastric cancers. FGFR2 showed the highest expression probability in all the selected cancers and FGFR4 showed the lowest expression probability. FGFR1 and FGFR3 showed comparable moderate expression probabilities. Our findings have demonstrated significant differences regarding FGFR expression levels between carcinoma and para-carcinoma cells in digestive or reproductive system cancer patients. The data also implicated that FGFR2 and FGFR4 could serve as two prominent factors closely related to the susceptibility of digestive and reproductive system cancers.

        Recovery of mortar-aggregate interface of fire-damaged concrete after post-fire curing

        In order to investigate the strength recovery of fire-damaged concrete after post-fire curing, concrete specimens were heating at 2°C/min or 5°C/min to 400, 600 and 800°C, and these exposed specimens were soaked in the water for 24 hours and following by 29-day post-fire curing. The compressive strength and split tensile strength of the high-temperature-exposed specimens before and after post-fire curing were tested. The proportion of split aggregate in the split surfaces was analyzed to evaluate the mortar-aggregate interfacial strength. After the post-fire curing process, the split tensile strength of specimens exposed to all temperatures was recovered significantly, while the recovery of compressive strength was only obvious within the specimens exposed to 600°C. The tensile strength is more sensitive to the mortar-aggregate interfacial cracks, which caused that the split tensile strength decreased more after high-temperature exposure and recovery more after post-fire curing than the compressive strength. The mortar-aggregate interfacial strength also showed remarkable recovery after post-fire curing, and it contributed to the recovery of split tensile strength.

        한국에 대한 중국 수출품의 다양성과 제품내 특화 분석

        이 논문은 한국의 무역통계를 이용해 중국 수출품의 다양성과 제품내 특화를 분석하고 있다. 분석에 사용된 자료는 1992~2008년 기간 동안 한국과 99개국과의 HS 10단위의 세분화된 무역통계이다. 분석 결과에 의하면, 중국의 한국으로의 수출 증가는 다양성 증가보다는 기존 제품의 수출증가에 기인한 부분이 더 크고, 중국 수출품의 구성이 다른 개도국에 비해 OECD 국가와 더욱 유사하다. 이는 중국의 한국에 대한 수출에서 제품내 특화가 빠르게 증가하고 있음을 의미한다. 제품내 특화에 대한 회귀분석 결과에 의하면, 소득수준이 높은 국가일수록 수출가격이 높고, 경제규모가 큰 국가일수록 수출가격이 낮으며, 특히 중국 제품의 가격이 다른 국가에 비해 상대적으로 낮다. 그러나 중국의 수출가격지수 하락폭에 비해 수출수량지수의 증가폭이 훨씬 크다는 것은 중국의 수출증가에 품질 향상의 기여가 있었음을 시사한다. We analyze tile variety and within-product specialization In China`s exports to Korea by using tile detailed data on Korean imports from 99 countries between 1992 and 2008, China`s exports growth to Korea Is mainly driven by an Increase in Impart penetration within common product categories with the rest of the world rather than by an Increase In the number of product varieties exported. In addition. the Similarity of China`s export bundle to that of OECD countries 15 higher than that of other developing countries. This Implies that within-product specialization has been growing fast In China`s exports to Korea, Regression results show that the price of China`s export good Is lower even If we consider Income level and economy sire of the country. However, we can conjecture that the relative quality of Chlna`s export good has increased over time. since export quantity has increased rapidly compared to decrease of the price.

        Growth Inhibitory and Pro-Apoptotic Effects of Hirsuteine in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cells through Targeting Sphingosine Kinase 1

        Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a slowly progressing hematopoietic cell disorder. Sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) plays established roles in tumor initiation, progression, and chemotherapy resistance in a wide range of cancers, including leukemia. However, small-molecule inhibitors targeting SPHK1 in CML still need to be developed. This study revealed the role of SPHK1 in CML and investigated the potential anti-leukemic activity of hirsuteine (HST), an indole alkaloid obtained from the oriental plant Uncaria rhynchophylla, in CML cells. These results suggest that SPHK1 is highly expressed in CML cells and that overexpression of SPHK1 represents poor clinical outcomes in CML patients. HST exposure led to G2/M phase arrest, cellular apoptosis, and downregulation of Cyclin B1 and CDC2 and cleavage of Caspase 3 and PARP in CML cells. HST shifted sphingolipid rheostat from sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) towards the ceramide coupled with a marked inhibition of SPHK1. Mechanistically, HST significantly blocked SPHK1/S1P/S1PR1 and BCR-ABL/PI3K/Akt pathways. In addition, HST can be docked with residues of SPHK1 and shifts the SPHK1 melting curve, indicating the potential protein-ligand interactions between SPHK1 and HST in both CML cells. SPHK1 overexpression impaired apoptosis and proliferation of CML cells induced by HST alone. These results suggest that HST, which may serve as a novel and specific SPHK1 inhibitor, exerts anti-leukemic activity by inhibiting the SPHK1/S1P/ S1PR1 and BCR-ABL/PI3K/Akt pathways in CML cells, thus conferring HST as a promising anti-leukemic drug for CML therapy in the future.
