Ductile cracking simulation procedure for welded joints under monotonic tension
Liang-Jiu Jia,Toyoki Ikai,Lan Kang,Hanbin Ge,Tomoya Kato 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.60 No.1
A large number of welded steel moment-resisting framed (SMRF) structures failed due to brittle fracture induced by ductile fracture at beam-to-column connections during 1994 Northridge earthquake and 1995 Kobe (Hyogoken-Nanbu) earthquake. Extensive research efforts have been devoted to clarifying the mechanism of the observed failures and corresponding countermeasures to ensure more ductile design of welded SMRF structures, while limited research on the failure analysis of the ductile cracking was conducted due to lack of computational capacity and proper theoretical models. As the first step to solve this complicated problem, this paper aims to establish a straightforward procedure to simulate ductile cracking of welded joints under monotonic tension. There are two difficulties in achieving the aim of this study, including measurement of true stress-true strain data and ductile fracture parameters of different subzones in a welded joint, such as weld deposit, heat affected zone and the boundary between the two. Butt joints are employed in this study for their simple configuration. Both experimental and numerical studies on two types of butt joints are conducted. The validity of the proposed procedure is proved by comparison between the experimental and numerical results.
MiR-454 Prompts Cell Proliferation of Human Colorectal Cancer Cells by Repressing CYLD Expression
Liang, Hong-Liang,Hu, Ai-Ping,Li, Sen-Lin,Xie, Jia-Ping,Ma, Qing-Zhu,Liu, Ji-Yong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.6
Previous studies have shown that miR-454 plays an important role in a variety of biological processes in various human cancer cells. However, the underlying mechanisms of this microRNA in colorectal cancer (CRC) cells remain largely unknown. In the present study, we investigated the miR-454 role in CRC cell proliferation. We found that miR-454 expression is markedly upregulated in CRC tissues and CRC cells compared with the matched tumor adjacent tissues and the FHC normal colonic cell line. Ectopic expression of miR-454 promoted the proliferation and anchorage-independent growth of CRC cells, whereas inhibition of miR-454 reduced this effect. Bioinformatics analysis further revealed cylindromatosis (CYLD), a putative tumor suppressor as a potential target of miR-454. Data from luciferase reporter assays showed that miR-454 directly binds to the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of CYLD mRNA and repressed expression at both transcriptional and translational levels. In functional assays, CYLD-silenced in miR-454-in-transfected SW480 cells have positive effect to promote cell proliferation, suggesting that direct CYLD downregulation is required for miR-454-induced CRC cell proliferation. In sum, our data provide compelling evidence that miR-454 functions as an onco-miRNA, playing a crucial role in the promoting cell proliferation in CRC, and its oncogenic effect is mediated chiefly through direct suppression of CYLD expression.

Purpose Microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B) serves as a key component of autophagy, which is associated with the progression of carcinoma. Yet, it is still unclear whether LC3B is also an independent risk factor for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). We aim to explore the predictive value of LC3B on prognosis of ICC, and to establish a novel and available nomogram to predict relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) for these patients after curative-intent hepatectomy. Materials and Methods From August 2004 to March 2017, 105 ICC patients were eligibly enrolled in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Preoperative clinical information of enrolled patients was collected. Expression LC3B in the ICC specimen was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The 5-year RFS and OS in this cohort were 15.7% and 29.6%, respectively. On multivariate Cox regression analysis, independent risk factors for 5-year OS were cancer antigen 125, microvascular invasion, LC3B expression and lymph node metastasis. Except for the above 4 factors, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and tumor differentiation were independent factors for 5-year RFS. The area under the curve of nomograms for OS and RFS were 0.820 and 0.747, respectively. Conclusion The nomograms based on LC3B can be considered as effective models to predict postoperative survival for ICC patients.
A Protocol Model of S3 Computing Designed for Learning Community Platform of College Teachers
Liang Jia,Liuhong Yan 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.7
S3 Computing requires distributed computing performed by social network platform has high scalability and security. Protocol models meeting the requirements of S3 Computing not only ensure the correctness and robustness of distributed computing, but also reduce risks introduced by involvement of nodes with low reputation in computing. These models safeguard the data collections and computations performed on platform of teacher’s learning community for social researches. This paper constructs a protocol model entitled which adapts platform of teacher’s learning community and meets the requirements of S3 Computing. This protocol model is the key step of implementing distributed computations on learning community platform.
Rotational capacity of H-shaped steel beams under cyclic pure bending
Liang-Jiu Jia,Yafeng Tian,Xianzhong Zhao,Siyuan Tian 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.30 No.2
This paper presents experimental study on effects of width-to-thickness ratio and loading history on cyclic rotational capacity of H-shaped steel beams subjected to pure bending. Eight Class 3 and 4 H-shaped beams with large width-to-thickness ratios were tested under four different loading histories. The coupling effect of local buckling and cracking on cyclic rotational capacity of the specimens was investigated. It was found that loss of the load-carrying capacity was mainly induced by local buckling, and ductile cracking was a secondary factor. The width-to-thickness ratio plays a dominant effect on the cyclic rotational capacity, and the loading history also plays an important role. The cyclic rotational capacity can decrease significantly due to premature elasto-plastic local buckling induced by a number of preceding plastic reversals with relative small strain amplitudes. This result is mainly correlated with the decreasing tangent modulus of the structural steel under cyclic plastic loading. In addition, a theoretical approach to evaluate the cyclic rotational capacity of H-shaped beams with different width-to-thickness ratios was also proposed, which compares well with the experimental results.

This paper presents the novel Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm for a solar Photovoltaic (PV) to maintain the system uptime, in case of rapi-dly changing illumination condition. Although the Microcontroller Unit (MCU) with appropriate of MPPT algorithm are favored because of their flexibility and compatibility[1], but under the aforementioned conditions, preserving the operation of the motor still requires high efficiency and high stability. Simultaneously, in the conventional systems, batteries are used to perform two essential functions: power buffer and energy storage bank[2]. But it will also increase the cost, we focus on the MPPT algorithm with speed control instead of the batteries in this paper.
