        Computational load reduction by avoiding the recalculation of angular redundancy in computer‐generated holograms

        A fast hologram calculation approach is proposed to reduce computational load by avoiding the recalculation of redundancy information. In the proposed method, the hologram is divided into several sub‐holograms that record and reconstruct different views of 3D objects. The sub‐hologram is generated from its adjacent calculated sub‐holograms by only adding the holograms of difference images between an adjacent pair of views. The repetitive information of two adjacent views is called angular redundancy. Therefore, avoiding the recalculation of this angular redundancy can considerably reduce the computational load. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method can reduce the computational time for the statue head, rabbits, and car to 4.73%, 6.67%, and 10.4%, respectively, for uniform intensity, and to 56.34%, 57.9%, and 66.24%, respectively, for 256 levels intensity, when compared to conventional methods.

        Pythium subutonaiense, A New Aquatic Oomycete from Southern China Based on Morphological and Molecular Characters

        A new species, Pythium subutonaiense, isolated from aquatic environments (lake) in China is being described based on morphological characters and molecular evidence. The isolates grew at temperatures between 5 C and 38 C, and the optimum temperature was 30 C, with a radial growth rate of 17.6mm at 25 C per day. It is homothallic and characterized by globose to sub-globose shaped and mostly terminal or sometimes catenulate hyphal swellings, filamentous non-inflated sporangia, and smooth oogonia with hypogynous and monoclinous antheridia that contained one plerotic oospore. In phylogenetic analysis, inferred based on the internal transcribed spacer region of the ribosomal RNA gene and mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene, the new species formed a distinct lineage in Pythium clade B. Differences between the new species and phylogenetically related and morphologically similar species are discussed.

        Inhibition of human liver cancer cell growth by evodiamine involves apoptosis and deactivation of PI3K/AKT pathway

        Evodiamine is an active alkaloid member found in Traditional Chinese Herb (TCH) Evodia rutaecarpa. It has been reported to exhibit remarkable biological and medicinal activities including anticancer and anti-inflammatory. This study was designed to investigate the anticancer effects of evodiamine against human liver cancer and evaluate its effects on cell migration, cell invasion, cellular apoptosis and PI3K/AKT pathway. The results showed that evodiamine exhibits potent antiproliferative effects against two human liver cancer cell lines (HepG2 and PLHC-1) with an IC50 of 20 μM. Nonetheless, the cytotoxic effects of evodiamine were comparatively low against the normal cells as evident from the IC50 of 100 μM. The growth inhibitory effects of evodiamine were found to be due to the induction of apoptosis as revealed by the DAPI, AO/EB and annexin V/PI staining assays. The induction of apoptosis was also associated with upregulation of Bax and downregulation of Bcl-2 expression in a concentration dependent manner. The wound healing and transwell assay revealed that evodiamine caused a significant decline in the migration and invasion of the HepG2 and PLHC-1 cells. Investigation of the effects of evodiamine on the PI3K/AKT signalling revealed that evodiamine inhibited the phosphorylation of PI3K and AKT proteins. Taken together, the results showed that evodiamine inhibits the growth of human liver cancer via induction of apoptosis and deactivation of PI3K/AKT pathway. The results point towards the therapeutic potential of evodiamine in the treatment of liver cancer.

        Association between FGFRs and the susceptibility of digestive and reproductive system cancers in Chinese population

        Fibroblast growth factors(FGFs) and their receptors (FGFRs) modulate a wide range of biological functions, especially tumor genesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible association of FGFR expression with the susceptibility of digestive system and reproductive system cancers in Chinese population. In total, 343 patients with digestive or reproductive system cancers were enrolled in this study. The expression levels of four highly-conserved FGFRs including FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4 were measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The expression levels of FGFRs were compared between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues. FGFR1 expression significantly differed between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in colon and gastric cancers. FGFR2 expression significantly differed between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in esophageal cancer. FGFR3 expression was significantly different between carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissues in liver and gastric cancers. FGFR2 showed the highest expression probability in all the selected cancers and FGFR4 showed the lowest expression probability. FGFR1 and FGFR3 showed comparable moderate expression probabilities. Our findings have demonstrated significant differences regarding FGFR expression levels between carcinoma and para-carcinoma cells in digestive or reproductive system cancer patients. The data also implicated that FGFR2 and FGFR4 could serve as two prominent factors closely related to the susceptibility of digestive and reproductive system cancers.

      • Bioremediation of Coastal Saline-Alkali Marshy Soil by the Irrigation with Pulp & Paper Wastewater

        Based on the importance of coastal saline-alkali soil remediation in Yellow River Delta, China, the Cl-、Na+ transferring tendency in soil and the saline-alkali soil eco-remediation effects were researched by measuring soil Cl-、Na+ 、soluble salt、soil respire rate and dry biomass weight of reed, etc. periodically. The results shows: the concentration of irrigated soil Cl-、Na+ and soluble salt were decreased 57.7-70%、45.7-47.1% and 53.2-59.7%, respectively, and soil salt decreasing level were little influenced by the hydraulic load, inundation depth varies in some degree, but it was influenced by dry-wet alternative irrigating mode The concentration of soil total nitrogen、organic mass、microbial respire rate, and the reed biomass above ground were increased averagely to 2.17、1.20、1.46 and 1.34 multiple respectively afterirrigation with wastewater, which have complex remediation effects on the coastal saline-alkali wetland, but there are some differences among the different irrigating crafts.

      • Pooled Analysis of Pomalidomide for Treating Patients with Multiple Myeloma

        Background: Patients with refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma are considered to have a very poor prognosis, and new regimens are needed to improve this setting. Pomalidomide is a new immunomodulatory drug with high in vitro potency. Immunomodulatory drugs are hypothesized to act through multiple mechanisms. Here we performed a systemic analysis to evaluate pomalidomide-based chemotherapy (pomalidomide in combination with low-dose dexamethasone) as salvage treatment for patients with refractory and relapsed multiple myeloma. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efffectiveness of pomalidomide based regimens on response and safety for patients with refractory and relapsed multiple myeloma were identified using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rate (RR) of treatment were calculated. Results: For pomalidomide based regimens, 4 clinical studies which including 291 patients with refractory and relapsed multiple myeloma were considered eligible for inclusion. Systemic analysis suggested that, in all patients, pooled RR was 41.2% (120/291). Major adverse effects were hematologic toxicity, including grade 1 or 2 anemia, leucopenia and thrombocytopenia with pomalidomide based treatment. No treatment related death occurred. Conclusion: This pooled analysis suggests that pomalidomide in combination with low-dose dexamethasone is active with good tolerability in treating patients with refractory or relapsed multiple myeloma.

        중국어권 한국어 문법서에 나타난 계기 관계 연결어미의 문법 기술

        본고는 중국의 한국어 문법 교육을 위해서 중국에서 출판된 20가지 한국어 문법서를 대상으로 계기 관계 연결어미 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'의 문법 기술 내용을 검토해 보고 문제점과 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연결어미 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'는 모두 계기적 의미 기능을 갖고 있지만 각각 독립된 형태로 존재하므로 의미 차이가 있다. 한국어 학습자가 그 의미 차이를 정확하게 이해하고 활용할 수 있도록 하기 위해 본고는 계기 관계 연결어미 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'의 의미 기능과 통사적인 특징(서술어 제약, 주어 제약, 시상 제약, 서법 제약, 부정 표현 제약)에 대해 자세히 살펴보았고, 이를 바탕으로 중국에서 출판된 20가지 한국어 문법서에서 계기 관계 연결어미 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'의 의미 기능 정보과 통사적 정보를 분석하였다. 중국에서 출판된 20가지 한국어 문법서에서는 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'는 모두 계기적인 의미 기능을 갖는다고 기술하였는데 ‘-자'는 이외에도 ‘원인 이유', ‘나열'의 의미 기능을 갖는다고 기술해 왔다. 그러나 같은 계기적 의미 기능을 갖는 두 연결어미의 의미 차이를 ‘-자마자'는 ‘-자'의 강조 형식밖에 언급하지 않는다. 그리고 중국 출판의 20가지 한국어 문법서에서 계기 관계 연결어미 ‘-자'와 ‘-자마자'의 통사적인 제약은 대부분의 문법서에서 서술어 제약만 기술하였고 주어 제약이나 시상 제약, 서법 제약 등에 대해 거의 언급하지 않는다. 한국어를 모국어로 하고 있지 않아 직관이 없는 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국어 문법서는 되도록 자세하고 명확하게 기술을 하도록 해야 한다. 따라서 조금 더 정확하고 정교한 문법서가 나올 수 있게 여러 방면으로 논의가 이루어져야 할 것이다. The purpose of this paper is to examine the contents of the descriptive grammar of ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' in 20 Korean grammar books published in China for Chinese Korean grammar education in China, and to present problems and solutions. The connective endings ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' both have sequential semantic function, but they exist in independent form, and that's why they have difference in meaning. In order to enable the Korean language learner to understand and utilize the difference of meaning precisely, this paper examines in details the semantic function and syntactic features of the sequential relation of connective endings ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' (predicate constraints, subject constraints, tense constraints, mood constraints, negative expressions constraints). Based on this, it analyzed the semantic function information and the syntactical information of the sequential relation of connection endings ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' in 20 Korean grammar books published in China. In the 20 Korean grammar books published in China, ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' both have an sequential semantic function but it has been described that -자 has other semantic functions such as ‘cause / reason', ‘enumerate'. However, the meaning difference of two connective endings who have the same sequential semantic function did not mention except the emphasis form of ‘-자'. And, in the 20 Chinese grammar books of Chinese publication, the syntactic constraints of the sequential relation of connective endings ‘-자' and ‘-자마자' are described in most grammatical books only in terms of predicate constraint, not mentioning subject constraints, tense constraints, mood constraints, etc. The Korean grammar for non native Korean language learners who have no intuition should be described as detailed and clear as possible. Therefore, it should be discussed in various ways so that more accurate and elaborate grammar can be found.
