Recent reforms of high school education in Korea have focused on transforming the uniform and standardized system into a deregulated and diversified system that has an emphasis on school choice and competition. Situating the high school diversification policy in the context of the recent controversy of the neoliberal educational reform, this study argues that school diversification in Korea is deeply impaired and unfulfilled, such as in situations in which the school differentiation and elite high school credentials struggle are reinforced by the peculiar nature of the Korean educational market, namely the hakbul-based society and the development of private educational markets. It suggests that special attention should be drawn to integrate the reform efforts for high school diversification into the ways in which the policy is being configured and delivered within the pursuit of educational equality and social justice.
Taxonomic Review of the Genus Echinochloa in Korea (I)
Jeongran Lee,Chang-Seok Kim,In-Yong Lee 한국잡초학회·한국잔디학회 2014 Weed & Turfgrass Science Vol.3 No.3
The genus Echinochloa (L.) P. Beauv. comprised of approximately 30-40 species in the tropical and warm temperate regions of the world, including numerous interspecific and intraspecific types which make the genus difficult to identify. As an attempt to identify the species within the genus easier, the taxonomy of the genus Echinochloa, Poaceae in Korea was reviewed on the basis of sequencing data derived from nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and external transcribe spacer and chloroplast DNA trnL intron, trnL-F intergenic spacer and matK regions using a total of 46 accessions representing all the species in Korea. The results of maximum parsimony found separate lineage comprised of E. colona and E. frumentaceae which are not Korean species, but no resolution within Korean Echinochloa species, supporting the suggestion of Yamaguchi group that E. crus-galli, E. oryzoides, and E. esculenta should be considered to belong to the same species. However, the relationship between these three species and the other species, i.e. E. oryzicola should be better understood with more detail studies.
Development of Cross-specific Microsatellite Markers for Echinochloa spp. (Poaceae)
Jeongran Lee,Jin-Won Kim,In-Yong Lee 한국잡초학회·한국잔디학회 2019 Weed & Turfgrass Science Vol.8 No.1
Echinochloa spp. is one of the most problematic weeds, especially in rice fields. Therefore, most of the studies on this genus have been focused on chemical control. Its genetic diversity using molecular markers was not widely studied because of a few markers available. Microsatellite markers were developed in this study to evaluate the genetic diversity of a cross-specific troublesome weed Echinochloa species (Poaceae). Illumina sequencing identified a total of 44,257 di-/tri-nucleotide repeat motifs. Finally, thirteen microsatellite markers were identified for Echinochloa crus-galli. All markers were polymorphic and cross amplified in E. oryzicola. The average number of alleles per locus was 8.0 and polymorphism information content was 0.611. Observed and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.00 to 0.98 and from 0.06 to 0.86, respectively. The 13 polymorphic markers identified in this study will be useful for assessing the genetic diversity of E. crus-galli along with E. oryzicola and for predicting the dispersal pattern of these weeds in agricultural fields.
CERAD-K의 단어목록기억검사를 통해 알아본 알츠하이머형 치매, 혈관성 치매, 노년기 우울, 정상 집단의 계열위치효과 비교 연구

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to obtain the differential variable and learning effect of the serial position effect, targeting individuals aged 60 years and over. A total of 89 individuals were categorized into the following groups: Alzheimer’s group, vascular dementia group, elderly depression group, and normal group. Methods: Considering the size of the groups used for comparison, of the total 89 participants, 28 were in the Alzheimer’s group, 24 in the vascular dementia group, 16 in the elderly depression group, and 21 were randomly chosen for the normal group. In the CERAD-K word list memory test, 10 words were shown to the subjects. We then asked them to freely recall the words. After changing the order of the words three times, the same process was followed. Results: First, a significant difference was observed among the groups in terms of word recalling rate. The analysis conducted afterward showed that, as predicted, the depressed group showed significantly better performance in recalling the words. Second, the vascular dementia patients and the Alzheimer’s patients showed, as predicted, better recall of the largest recency region of words shown. Third, the normal group and the elderly depressed group showed a high-performance rate, proving that the reiterative method can contribute to the recalling process. Thus, we demonstrated that the Alzheimer’s group showed the deterioration of short memory recalling skills and the elderly depressed showed deteriorated output performance skill.

The growth of the online market has led to the growth of IT startups and the development of related derivative industries; however, such growth has also brought about new problems such as: (i) issues relating to the reinforcement of the superior bargaining position of the online platforms, the center of the market growth, and (ii) issues relating to the emergence of unfair trade practices. More specifically, examples of such issues include the following acts by online platform businesses: unilaterally altering contractual terms and conditions or suspending its services; transferring the return costs to users; intentionally exposing the platform businesses’ own products or its affiliates’ products as the top search result; and providing certain business users “most-favored customer clauses.” In order to resolve such problems, the EU and Japanese governments have enacted laws and regulations to regulate activities relating to online platforms and the Korean government is also in the process of enacting laws and regulations for this purpose. The reason for many countries to enact laws and regulations to regulate online platforms around the similar time would perhaps be due to the fact that the current laws and regulations in place are not sufficient to resolve the problems and issues arising from activities related to online platforms. The fact that online platforms are ever evolving in combination with various factors, however, is a reason for the new laws and regulations to be different in form from the current laws in place. This means that there should be a good balance between innovation and regulation. In Korea, the new bill pending legislation is based on the current structure of the Korean laws regulating unfair trade practices. However, the new bill is notable in the fact that it places an emphasis on preventative regulatory measures in order to promote the transparency of commercial transactions, and that it newly provides for separate criteria to determine what is the “superior bargaining position” in a commercial transaction. In comparison to the similar laws of other jurisdictions, the new bill is similar to other countries’ laws in that they emphasize the importance of preventative regulatory measures, but the new bill is also different in that it directly regulates unfair trade practices as well as sanctions for any violation. In this article, Author suggests that, in order for the new bill on online platform law to have its regulatory feasibility, the required fields of a contract, to be published through a public notice , should be limited to an appropriate extent and that specific standards should be provided for. In addition, Author further suggests that the concept of intermediary services should be interpreted with limitations in accordance with the purpose of the new bill. Last but not least, Author particularly proposes that the market should voluntarily change since the new bill has provided for a policy giving direction on the regulation of online markets.
