Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most abundant variation in plant genomes. As DNA markers, SNPs are rapidly replacing simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and sequence tagged sites (STSs) markers, because SNPs are more abundant, stable, easy to automation, efficient, and increasingly cost-effective. We developed a 96-plex indica/japonica SNP genotyping set for genetic analysis and molecular breeding in rice using Fluidigm platform. Informative SNPs for indica/japonica populations were selected from 1536 Illumina SNPs and 44K Affymetrix SNP chip data of Rice Diversity and our resequencing data sets. Selected SNPs were evenly distributed across 12 chromosomes and average physical distance between adjacent SNP markers was 4.38Mb. We conducted genetic diversity analysis of 49 Bangladesh germplasm and check varieties to test a 96-plex indica/japonica SNP genotyping set we developed. High-throughput Fluidigm SNP genotyping system will serve a more efficient and valuable tool for genetic diversity analysis, DNA fingerprinting, quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping and background selection for crosses between indica and japonica in rice. A Review of Intelligent Self-Driving Vehicle Software Research

Interest in self-driving vehicle research has been rapidly increasing, and related research has been continuously conducted. In such a fast-paced self-driving vehicle research area, the development of advanced technology for better convenience safety, and efficiency in road and transportation systems is expected. Here, we investigate research in self-driving vehicles and analyze the main technologies of driverless car software, including: technical aspects of autonomous vehicles, traffic infrastructure and its communications, research techniques with vision recognition, deep leaning algorithms, localization methods, existing problems, and future development directions. First, we introduce intelligent self-driving car and road infrastructure algorithms such as machine learning, image processing methods, and localizations. Second, we examine the intelligent technologies used in self-driving car projects, autonomous vehicles equipped with multiple sensors, and interactions with transport infrastructure. Finally, we highlight the future direction and challenges of self-driving vehicle transportation systems.

Multiple sorptive sites on natural illitic clays (e.g., frayed edge [FES], type II [TS], and planar sites [PS]) play an important role to diverse 137Cs immobilization in soil and aquifer environments. This study investigated the Cs sorption capabilities of 10 natural illitic clays at ranged Cs concentrations (1 ×10?7 to 1×10?3 mol·L?1) under various competing potassium concentration (distilled water to 1×10?1 mol·L?1). Additionally, multisite cation exchange model was performed to evaluate the best-fit sorption model and optimize the sorption capacities and affinities of multiple sorptive sites for Cs. Here, the experimental Cs sorption isotherms varied among 10 illtic clays, indicating different sorption capacities of Cs on illitic clays. The best-fit sorption model exhibited that variable Cs sorption of 10 illitic clays was significantly related to the sorption capacities at the FES (1.76 × 10?5 to 1.12×10?4 eq·kg?1), TS (1.59×10?3 to 9.76×10?3 eq·kg?1), and PS (2.14×10?2 to 1.51×10?1 eq·kg?1), respectively. The FES predominantly contributed to Cs sorption at low aqueous concentrations, whereas the TS and PS sorbed Cs at high concentrations. These sorption capabilities of multiple sorptive sites were correlated to illite contents and crystallinity of illitic clays, implicating that such parameters could be key factors to predict the Cs sorption for natural illitic clays in soil and aquifer environments. Finally, 1-D transport simulations represented that the severe Cs retardation occurred at low Cs concentration, implying that the FES predominantly affected to Cs transport in actual radioactive contamination sites (i.e., where low Cs concentration prevails), compared to the TS and/or PS.
QTL analysis for eight agronomic characters in two rice (Oryza sativa) populations

The HWC-line of rice showed wide compatibility with both indica and japonica cultivars, tall culm length, long and slender grain shape. For QTL analysis, two F2 populations were derived from the crosses between the HWC-line and each of two Korean variety, Dasanbyeo (Korean Tongil-type cultivar) and Hwacheongbyeo (temperate japonica cultivar), respectively. A total of 190 F2 plants were evaluated in each of two F2 populations. Eight agronomic characters were measured for QTL analysis in F2 populations and parents. Two molecular linkage maps were constructed. In the F2 population from cross between HWC-line / Dasanbyeo (HD) cross, 93 STS markers and 13 SSR markers were mapped on 12 chromosomes, covering a total length of 1942.6 cM, with an average distance of 18.33cM between adjacent markers. In the F2 population from HWC-line / Hwacheongbyeo (HH) cross, 28 STS markers, 29 SSR markers and 1 FNP marker were mapped on 11 chromosomes, spanning a total length of 925.53cM, with an average distance of 15.96cM between adjacent markers. In the F2 population from HD cross, 16 M-QTLs and 1 E-QTL were detected for culm length, spikelets per panicle, spikelet fertility, grain length, grain width, grain shape and 100 grains weight. 7 QTLs of spikelet fertility, grain length, grain width and grain shape were newly identified in this study. In the F2 population from HH cross, 15 M-QTLs were detected for culm length, panicle length, spikelet fertility, grain length, grain width, grain shape and 100 grains weight. 6 QTLs of culm length, grain length, grain width and grain shape were newly identified in this study. The QTLs identified in this study would provide basic information on putative functional genes related agronomic characters and facilitate breed new rice cultivar.

Background: Acute renal failure (ARF) with severe loin pain and patchy renal vasoconstriction (PRV) is a syndrome presenting with sudden loin pain after anaerobic exercise. We aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and the efficacy of diagnostic imaging studies of patients with this syndrome. Methods: We retrospectively selected 17 patients with ARF accompanied by loin or abdominal pain who showed multiple patchy wedge-shaped delayed contrast enhancements on a computerized tomography scan. Information about the clinical characteristics, including the nature of pain and combined symptoms, suspected causes, such as exercise, drug or alcohol intake, and renal hypouricemia, and the results of laboratory and imaging tests were gathered. Results: The mean age of patients with episodes of ARF accompanied by loin pain was 23.0±6.5 (range 16-35) years old. Pain was mainly located in the loin (70.6%) or abdominal area(76.5%) and continued for approximately 3.5±4.0 days. Exercise was suspected as a primary cause of disease in 12 (70.6%) patients. Maximal serum creatinine was 5.42±3.16 (1.4-12.1)mg/dL3.1±1.8 (1-7) days after the onset of pain. The peak level of serum uric acid was 9.41±2.91 (6.0-15.8) mg/dL. All of the patients recovered to near-normal renal function, and one patient showed hypouricemia after recovery. Conclusion: ARF with severe loin pain and PRV can present with loin or abdominal pain, even without a history of anaerobic exercise. Careful history taking and appropriate imaging studies are critical in the diagnosis and management of this syndrome.
