        오토캠핑장 선택속성이 오토캠핑 제약요인과 재방문의도에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 오토캠핑 유형 중의 하나인 차박과 일반적 오토캠핑카 이용객의 캠핑장 선택속성이 캠핑 제약요인과 재방문의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 연구하였다. 이를 위해 최근 1년간 캠핑 경험이 있는 이용객 317명을 대상으로 빈도분석, 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석, 신뢰성 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 캠핑장 선택속성, 캠핑 제약요인 및 재방문의도 간의 관계를 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 캠핑장 선택속성이 제약요인에 미치는 영향을 다중회귀분석한 결과, 캠핑장 내 화장실, 샤워실, 개수대, 취사시설, 관리상태 등의 속성이 제대로 이루어지면 대인적 제약을 덜 받지만 캠핑장 내 직원, 홈페이지 운영, 예약시스템 등의 속성이 제대로 이루어지지 않으면 구조적 제약을 받게 된다. 이 외에도 캠핑객들은 운송수단의 불편함이나 시간의 제약 등을 중요시 하는 것으로 조사되었고 뿐만아니라 캠핑 방법, 시설의 불편함, 장비 부재, 정보 부족 등에서도 캠핑 참여의 제약요인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 캠핑장의 선택속성이 재방문의도에 미치는 영향을 다중회귀분석한 결과, 캠핑장을 선택하는데 있어서 캠핑장의 규모, 캠핑사이트의 수, 캠핑사이트 간의 거리, 사이트 당사용 가능한 면적의 크기 등을 중요시 하는 이용객들은 이러한 속성에 만족할수록 재방문의도가 높을 것으로 조사되었다. 그리고 캠핑 제약요인이 캠핑장 이용고객의 재방문의도에 미치는 영향을 다중회 귀분석한 결과, 캠핑에 있어서 함께 갈 사람의 부재, 운송수단의 불편이나 없음, 시간의 부족 등은 캠핑장을 재방문하고자 하는 의도에 걸림돌 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of the study is to find out how camping site choice properties affect camping constraints and revisit intentions. To this end, 317 users with camping experience in the past year were surveyed. Using statistical techniques, SPSS/PC+WIN 21.0 and AMOS 18.0, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmative factor analysis, and reliability analysis were performed. We also conduct multiple regression analysis to analyze the relationship between camping site selection properties, camping constraints, and revisit intent. As a result, the camping site selection property has a statistically significant impact on camping constraints. In particular, among the camping site selection attributes, the use of camping sites has an impact on interpersonal constraints. And management facility factors have been investigated to affect structural factors. Furthermore, accessibility among camping site choice attributes has significant effects on interpersonal and structural constraints. As a result of investigating the impact of the camping site's choice on the intention of revisit, spatial factors among the camping site's choice properties affect the intention of revisit. Furthermore, as a result of investigating the impact of camping constraints on revisit intent, it was found that interpersonal and structural constraints of camping constraints affect revisit intent.

        Nonnative English Teachers` Anxiety in Korea

        The research aims to explore anxiety of nonnative English teachers in Korea, one of the EFL countries. Considering the inherent threat lying in foreign language learning, nonnative teachers of a target language must experience negative feelings such as anxiety. This study demonstrates the sources of anxiety and the strategies that teachers adopt when they confront anxiety-arousing situations. In-depth interviews were conducted to find out the sources and the strategies in terms of anxiety. Three sessions of the interviews with three participants show the significant sources of anxiety and the strategies the participants employ when they encounter embarrassing moments. According to the results of this study, the most significant sources are self-concept of the teachers and the increasing number of students with high English proficiency. In addition, the most frequently adopted strategies are hiding their lack of knowledge by performing other activities to distract students from unexpected questions and avoiding the English-only classes. Along with the discussions about the sources and the strategies, the in-depth interviews also deal with several issues such as learners’ motivation, learning culture and the changes in educational policies. While this study shows meaningful results by conducting the in-depth interviews, one of the qualitative methods, the small number of participants cannot help avoiding the apparent limit: the participants’ representativeness of the nonnative English teachers in Korea. Therefore, future research based on this preliminary study should compensate the limit of it by executing quantitative studies including statistical analyses with a wide number of participants from the various backgrounds such as their age and the time and the methods of learning English.

        The Relationship between Bilingual Proficiency and Age in Metalinguistic Attainment

        The current quantitative study examined whether the degree of proficiency among bilingual children is related with the attainment of metalinguistic components over age. This study attempted to overcome the drawbacks of previous studies by defining the metalinguistic framework. The study was conducted on SES equivalent children who attend International Schools in Korea. Their proficiency and metalinguistic ability measured by grammaticality judgement test were statistically analyzed. The results of this study indicated that teaching in a secondary language was advantageous in gaining the analysis skill in the target language. On the other hand, cognitive control takes place only for the students whose secondary language is sufficient enough to catch up with the instruction. Furthermore, younger children whose proficiency is limited for the instructional language failed to gain the cognitive control component. This study suggests reconsideration regarding bilingual development among children. The findings of this study indicated that the cognitive advantages as consequences of bilingualism can be limited without full development of the target language. The current study calls for further investigation on the bast timing for introducing English as a medium of instruction. It is necessary to develop cognitively effective bilingual learning programs that fit into the Korean setting.

        The Effects of Using Model-passages for EFL Learners to Teach Non-academic Writing and Discourse Skills

        Presenting model-passages has been a mainstay of writing instruction for many decades. The purpose of the current study is to examine the empirical effects of presenting model-passages via Feez' (2002) teaching-learning cycle for EFL college students. The instructional effects of using model-passages were analyzed from three aspects. First, the teaching effects on interview skills were assessed via t-test pairs using the oral placement test as pre-test and the mock interview results as post-test. Statistical analysis results indicated that students with active participation significantly improved oral interview skills in terms of accuracy and fluency. Second, cover letter writing samples were analyzed according to Knapp & Watkins' (2005) assessment criteria of exposition. The results indicated that students improved the quality of writing skills in terms of length and genre-generic features. Third, questions in a program evaluation survey were used to identify students' degree of satisfaction regarding use of model-passages presented in Feez's teaching-learning cycle. The students group with active participation showed a significantly high level of satisfaction. In summary, it is apparent that students were able to develop their oral interview skills and improve writing skills as a result of model-based instruction. Also, the degree of satisfaction with using model passages presented via Feez's teaching-learning cycle was statistically significant.
