An Ensemble Approach for Efficient Churn Prediction in Telecom Industry
Pretam Jayaswal,Bakshi Rohit Prasad,Divya Tomar,Sonali Agarwal 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.9 No.8
The rise of globalization and market liberalization are changing the face of market competitiveness significantly. The appearance of modern technology in business processes has intensified the competition and put forth new challenges for service providing companies. To cope up with changing scenarios, companies are shifting their attention on retaining the existing customers rather hiring new ones. This is more cost effective and requires lesser resource as well. The phenomenon of abandoning the company by a customer is known as churn and in this context, anticipating the customer's intention to churn is called churn prediction. Data Mining and machine learning techniques, as applied to customer behavior and usage information, can assist the churn management processes. This paper used customer usage and related information from a telecom service provider to analyze churn in telecom industry. The decision trees and its ensembles, Random Forest and Gradient Boosted trees are used as underlying statistical machine learning models for building the binary churn classifier. The implementation part has been done using apache spark which is state of the art unified data analysis framework for machine learning and data mining. In order to achieve better and efficient results, the grid based hyper-parameter optimization is applied.

Induction of non-diapause eggs and manifestation of quantitative characters were studied in different seasons by low temperature incubation of eggs of a low yielding diapause with coloured cocoons silkworm breed, RDI of Bombyx mori. Hundred percent of nandiapause eggs were induced when the egg incubation was carried out at 15$^{\circ}C$ followed by incubation initially at $25^{\circ}C$ and then at $15^{\circ}C$. The diapause-nondia-pause relation was found to be reversible. Analysis of variance study demonstrated significant variation in all the quantitative characters whereas significant variation due to different incubation treatments was observed for larval span, fifth instar larval span, cocoon yield/10,000 larvae by weight, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, and cocoon shell ratio. study on hybrid vigour skewed significant heterosis over mid parent value for four economic characters viz., cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio and filament length in a Fl hybrid between RD1 with diapause eggs and Japanese type bivoltine $NB_{4} D_{2}$.

Although the Contingent Negative Variation (CNV) paradigm has been useful in schizophrenia, limited research involving such paradigm in subjects with Bipolar Disorder (BD) has produced contradictory findings. To the best of our knowledge, no study has investigated CNV in Paediatric Bipolar Disorder (PBD) subjects. Thirty remitted PBD patients and thirty matched healthy control group subjects participated in the study. No significant between group main effect could be found for either CNV latency or amplitude. We propose that CNV is unlikely to be a true endophenotype of BD. However, absence of CNV finding during euthymic phase in BD may help us in advancing our understanding of BD and such finding may, in fact, have some specificity with regard to differentiating BD from schizophrenia.

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, though an uncommon surgical procedure in paediatric age group is still associated with a higher risk of post-operative bile duct injuries when compared with the open procedure. Small leaks from extra hepatic biliary apparatus usually lead to the formation of a localized sub-hepatic bile collection, also known as biloma. Such leaks are rare complication after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, especially in paediatric age group. Minor bile leaks can usually be managed non-surgically by percutaneous drainage combined with endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP). However, surgical exploration is required in cases not responding to non-operative management. If not managed on time, such injuries can lead to severe hepatic damage. We describe a case of an eight-year-old girl who presented with biloma formation after laparoscopic cholecystectomy who was managed by ERCP.
Management of Tuberculous Infection of the Spine
Pankaj Kandwal,Vijayaraghavan G.,Arvind Jayaswal 대한척추외과학회 2016 Asian Spine Journal Vol.10 No.4
Spinal tuberculosis accounts for nearly half of all cases of musculoskeletal tuberculosis. It is primarily a medical disease and treatment consists of a multidrug regimen for 9–12 months. Surgery is reserved for select cases of progressive deformity or where neurological deficit is not improved by anti-tubercular treatment. Technology refinements and improved surgical expertise have improved the operative treatment of spinal tuberculosis. The infected spine can be approached anteriorly or posteriorly, in a minimally invasive way. We review the various surgical techniques used in the management of spinal tuberculosis with focus on their indications and contraindications.
Severe Rigid Scoliosis: Review of Management Strategies and Role of Spinal Osteotomies
Pankaj Kandwal,Govindaraja Perumal Vijayaraghavan,Upendra Bidre Nagaraja,Arvind Jayaswal 대한척추외과학회 2017 Asian Spine Journal Vol.11 No.3
Severe rigid curves pose a considerable challenge to the treating spine surgeon. In our practice, approximately 30%–40% of patients with scoliosis present late with severe rigid scoliosis (>90° and <30% correction on bending films). Controversy still exists with regard to the ideal surgical strategy for correcting these rigid curves. Rigid scoliosis often presents in the form of either sharp angular or rounded deformities. Rounded deformities can be effectively managed with an anterior release to loosen the apex and posterior instrumentation (with osteotomies, if required). In contrast, severe rigid scoliosis, which is a sharp angular deformity, is not very amenable to anterior release and is best managed by posterior-only vertebral column resection and posterior instrumentation.
