Sam-jon-bul or Three Buddha Image Carved on rock surface which is called Sam-jon-bul in Taean, state-designated national treasure No. 307, made in Baek-je Period, has two Buddha images and one Bodhisattva. The detached part of the Sam-jon-bul from wall rock has been attached through conservation treatment in 1995. Few study has been done on weathering condition of petrological point of view and damage while the surface of the Sam-jon-bul has been under serious weathering (relief) of loosing stone particles, and discoloration. In this study, it was made weathering damage maps, which show physical property of the material and state of damage of Sam-jon-bul, in order to dialogize how far the weathering has been done. It has been considered continuing on-site monitoring as necessity when Sam-jon-bul was covered with dew, which may have been caused by change in weather in and out of the protect building. It is necessary to set up detailed conservation plan for it by doing regular diagnosis on the influence of the protect building and weathering of Sam-jon-bul.
(J.Miner.Soc.Korea) Vol.31 No.1
Noerok ia a green pigment used in Joseon dynasty, and its main usage was for forming foundation layers of Dancheong, the ornamental paintings on the surface of traditional buildings in Korea, such as the Daeung-jeon(main hall) of Bulguk-sa temple. In this research, we investigated the mineralogical characteristic changes of Noerok, a traditional Korean pigment, depending on its firing temperature. The Noerok that we experimented on was mined from Noeseong Mountain, Pohang where it is locally reserved. The major composition mineral is Celadonite, and the main constituent elements are Fe, Si, K and Mg, that refers to the existence of Fe-rich mica. As a result of phased firing experiment from 105℃ to 1000℃, the color was changed from green to pale green, then to brown, and finally to red in order. In the thermal analysis, endothermic reaction induced by the dehydration of crystalline water was confirmed at around 616℃. In the mineralogical change, the crystal surface [(111) and (021)] of the mineral collapsed at temperatures above 600℃, and iron oxide was formed at 1000℃ or higher. Therefore, it is estimated that the crystallization temperature of Noerok is below 60 0℃, and it is also considered that it has undergone the alteration phase up to stage I, based on the presence of only a celadonite.
Vol.18 No.1
The purpose of this paper is to explore Chinese students’ difficulty and understanding of their relationship with Korean students. A total of 20 Chinese undergraduate students at a private university in Seoul were interviewed. Findings show that (1) Chinese students were separated from Korean students in their relationships; (2) Chinese students understood that Korean students were indifferent to Chinese students and pursue purposeful relationships with Chinese students; (3) Chinese students recognized that Korean students and people perceive China and Chinese people negatively, reasons including mass media in both China and Korea, political and economic relations between two countries, and lack of intercultural education in Korean education. This paper emphasizes the separation of Chinese students from Korean students despite the successful increase of international student population in Korean higher education, and concludes that international student recruitment and internationalization efforts in Korean higher education need to be directed toward facilitating relationships between Korean and international students, thereby promoting their quality of educational and sociocultural experience.

The CKM matrix element |Vcb| can be extracted by combining data from experiments with lattice QCD results for the semileptonic form factors for the B̅ → D(*)lv̅ decays. The Oktay-Kronfeld (OK) action was designed to reduce heavy-quark discretization errors to below 1%, or through O(λ3) in HQET power counting. Here we describe recent progress on bottom-to-charm currents improved to the same order in HQET as the OK action, and correct formerly reported results of our matching calculations, in which the operator basis was incomplete.
