Convolutional Neural Network-based Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Detection System
Ann Janeth Garcia,Jae Min Lee,Dong Seong Kim 한국통신학회 2021 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.2
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) are objects that are in a runway and taxiway in an airport that may cause damage in an aircraft. To address this gap, this paper proposes a detection system based on an improved AlexNet, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that detects FOD that are present in runways or taxiways using an FOD image dataset consists of more than 3,000 images by Xu, et al. The proposed network is an improvised AlexNet that gave an accuracy of 92.59% in detecting FOD within a concrete background.
CNN-based Unwanted UAV Detection System
Ann Janeth Garcia,Jae-Min Lee,Dong-Seong Kim 한국통신학회 2021 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.6
Applications using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)s are growing rapidly because of its easy-availability and is in trend, but with this growth, people also became creative in using it for doing unlawful things. To mitigate this, a lot of UAV detection systems emerged using different technologies. This pa-per proposes a UAV detection system exploiting a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for detection and show its advantage compared with other Deep Learning (DL) algorithms.
CNN-32DC: An improved radar-based drone recognition system based on Convolutional Neural Network
Ann Janeth Garcia,Ali Aouto,이재민,김동성 한국통신학회 2022 ICT Express Vol.8 No.4
This paper proposed a system that will guard infrastructures against incoming threats from drones by detecting it with the use of a radar device-based detection scheme. The database acquired, named Real Doppler RAD-DAR (Radar with Digital Array Receiver) is constructed by a Microwave and Radar Group. The radar used uses a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) on an 8.75 GHz based frequency band with a BW of 500 MHz. The proposed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), CNN-32DC is varied with different number of filters, combination layers, and number of feature extraction blocks, the preference that will give the most accurate result was selected and compared with different machine learning and classification learning algorithms gained an accuracy that exceeds other networks with less processing time.

Ultrasound processing can result in cell walldisruption, facilitating the release of the cellular content. Therefore, we hypothesized that sonication of vegetablescould be used as a pre-treatment to increase thebioaccessibility of phenolic and antioxidant compounds. Overall, sonication (40 kHz, 250 W, 4 C, 20 min) did notaffect the main physicochemical parameters of tomato, lettuce, zucchini, and green and red pepper (p\0.05). Thepolyphenolic content and antioxidant activity of digestiveenzymatic extracts was higher than that of water:methanolextracts (p\0.05). In addition, sonication resulted inincreased bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds in lettuceand green pepper (p\0.05), while no effect was observedfor tomato, red pepper, and zucchini samples suggesting amatrix-dependent effect. The amount of phenolic compoundsand antioxidants released by vegetables during asimulated gastrointestinal digestion may be higher than theone that can be expected from measurements in usualaqueous-organic extracts.

Natural products in the research of cholesterol gallstones
Ibrahim Guillermo Castro-Torres,Minarda De la O-Arciniega,Janeth Gallegos-Estudillo,Mariano Martínez-Vázquez,Elia Brosla Naranjo-Rodríguez,Miguel Ángel Domínguez-Ortíz,Jesús Samuel Cruz-Sánchez 셀메드 세포교정의약학회 2013 TANG Vol.3 No.3
Cholesterol gallstones are a digestive disease of high prevalence that has many risk factors; for this reason, research has focused mainly on how to prevent it rather than how to treat it. Many molecules of the hepatic, bile and intestinal systems are involved in the pathophysiology of this disease, making it very difficult to find a therapeutic target. The pharmacological treatment is limited, so when gallstones generate symptoms, medical treatment indicates gallbladder removal. Ursodeoxycholic acid is used to dissolve cholesterol stones, and ezetimibe and statins are other drugs with possible applications in the treatment of this disease. Given the small number of drugs that have been developed for treating this disease, the research of natural products becomes of paramount importance. Resources such as black radish, glucosinolates, fenugreek, capsaicin, curcumin, garlic, and onion, have all shown significant effects in the prevention and treatment of cholesterol gallstones. In this review, we made a synthesis of the scientific reports that deal with these natural products and that can serve as antecedents for finding a way to treat the most common disease of the gallbladder.
Momordica Charantia: A Review of Its Effects on Metabolic Diseases and Mechanisms of Action
Marisol Cortez-Navarrete,Miriam Mendez-del Villar,Elsy Janeth Ramos-Gonzalez,Karina G. Perez-Rubio 한국식품영양과학회 2021 Journal of medicinal food Vol.24 No.10
The global rise in the prevalence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia is a serious public health issue. The search for safe and effective complementary and alternative therapies to treat metabolic disorders is a key field of research. Momordica charantia (MC) is a tropical and subtropical vine of the Cucurbitaceae family used as a medicinal plant since ancient times. Although MC has been widely studied for its hypoglycemic potential, hypolipidemic and antiobesity effects have also been reported in preclinical studies and clinical trials. This study aims to review the metabolic effects of MC reported in clinical trials as well as its mechanisms of action.
