Retail Prices of Gasoline and Asymmetric Adjustment to Wholesale Prices in Colombia
Jaime Carabalí,Luis Meneses,Alex Perez,Manuel Rodriguez 중앙대학교 경제연구소 2022 Journal of Economic Development Vol.47 No.3
This study examines the pass-through between retail and wholesale prices of gasoline in Colombia. Data from 2017 to 2019 were available on prices and characteristics of gasoline sold by service stations in the main cities of Colombia. Information on the location of the stations is also available, which is used to georeference the stations and obtain the potential number of competitors for a station. The study results show an asymmetric pass-through behavior between retail and wholesale prices. Furthermore, the potential number of competitors of the stations has a direct effect on the retail prices and an indirect effect because it alters the stations’ pass-through.
Selective Migration and Economic Growth in México
Jaime Lara Lara,Bernardo Garza Gómez,Dania Monárrez Barrón,Emilio Mátar Zambrano,Gustavo Vázquez García 중앙대학교 경제연구소 2023 Journal of Economic Development Vol.48 No.1
The objective of this study is to determine the impact of selective internal migration on regional economic growth in Mexico. The net skilled migration rate has no significant impact on growth. The net migration rate is positively correlated with economic growth, but has no effect when endogeneity is solved. Together, the results indicate that there is no significant and robust causal impact of migration on growth. These results sustain even when we consider the negative effect that population growth rate have on regional economies.
Paremias espaNolas sobre el pan
( Jaime Aguilo Pastrana ) 한국스페인어문학회 2014 스페인어문학 Vol.0 No.72

Background: Patients with documented acute coronary syndromes (ACS) exhibit a wide spectrum of early risk of death. An elevated neutrophil count predicts a worse outcome in ACS. In contrast, a low lymphocyte count is related to high risks of adverse outcomes. The neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), therefore, integrates for two WBC subtypes with opposite actions in terms of vascular infl ammation. Objectives: Among patients diagnosed with ACS, we aim to determine if an elevated NLR taken within 24 hours of admission is associated with higher rates of adverse outcomes. Methods: A prospective cohort of adult patients admitted with a diagnosis of ACS was conducted. The participants were stratifi ed into two: low to intermediate NLR (NLR < 6.5) and high NLR (NLR > 6.50). Primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Secondary outcomes include development or worsening of congestive heart failure (CHF) and the development of cardiogenic shock, re-infarction, renal failure, pneumonia, and arrhythmias. Results: 117 patients with a mean age of 60 +/- 13 were included. Diagnosis on admission was unstable angina (28%), NSTEMI (40%), and STEMI (37%). Analysis of data showed that the odds of in-hospital deaths among those with a high NLR is 5.71 times higher compared to those with low-intermediate NLR [OR 5.71 (1.53-21.23, p 0.009)]. Using linear regression, the NLR of patients who were non-survivors was computed at 9.91, while the NLR of those who survived was 5.47. A high NLR was also predictive of the development or worsening of CHF, shock, re-infarction, arrhythmias, and development of any adverse outcome. Conclusion: Among patients with ACS, an elevated NLR (>6.5) taken within 24 hours of presentation is a useful marker to predict in-hospital mortality, development or worsening or CHF, and development of shock, re-infarction, and arrhythmias.
Thrust-Vector Control of a Three-Axis Stabilized Spacecraft with Fuel Slosh Dynamics
Jaime Rubio Hervas,Mahmut Reyhanoglu,Hui Tang 제어로봇시스템학회 2013 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2013 No.10
The thrust vector control problem is studied for an upper-stage rocket with fuel slosh dynamics. The sloshing propellant is modeled as a multi-mass-spring system. The coupled equations of motion of the spacecraft and the fuel are expressed in terms of the three dimensional spacecraft translational velocity vector, the attitude, the angular velocity, and the internal coordinates representing the slosh modes. A Lyapunov-based nonlinear feedback control law is proposed to control the translational velocity vector and the attitude of the spacecraft, while attenuating the sloshing modes. A simulation example is included to illustrate the effectiveness of the control law.
Bulk and homoepitaxial films of III-V nitride semiconductors: Optical studies
Jaime A. Freitas, Jr 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2005 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.6 No.3
It is well accepted that point and extended defects play an important role on the properties of III-V nitride semiconductors. It is also essential to understand the defect formation mechanisms to obtain the necessary material control to reach the full realization of the technological potential of the wide bandgap material system. Due to the nature of the centers involved a detailed and extensive investigation must be performed in controlled samples. In this work, results obtained using a combination of defect-sensitive techniques employed to detect, identify, and verify the role of defects and impurities in the structural, optical, and electronic properties of thick freestanding GaN, bulk AlN, and homoepitaxial layers are reviewed. The sharpness and line-shapes of XRD and Raman scattering lines of AlN and GaN were employed as figures of merit to evaluate the crystalline quality and homogeneity of the bulk and epitaxial layers. Detailed luminescence studies of AlN and GaN, grown by different techniques, and homoepitaxial films show evidence of the pervasive nature of some defects.
