A Fuzzy Logic System to Estimate ARP Poisoning Susceptibility of a Client in Wireless Networks
Jaideep Singh,Vinit Grewal 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.9
Network Security is a supreme worry today for all computer users and organizations. It is the center of focus in all large and small networks. Extensively used internet protocols do not have promising mechanisms for protection against malicious activities. So the network attackers manage to shape and modify these protocols to launch various kinds of attacks on the legitimate clients. These attacks can have threatening effects on personal as well as professional aspects of clients. This paper proposes a fuzzy logic system to analyse and examine the susceptance of network clients towards various types of precarious attacks. The factors affecting the susceptibility have been carefully shortlisted by an extensive survey into journals, magazines and various research papers by leading authors in this field.

Purpose: This study investigated knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions regarding the future of artificial intelligence (AI) for radiological diagnosis among dental specialists in central India. Materials and Methods: An online survey was conducted consisting of 15 closed-ended questions using Google Forms and circulated among dental professionals in central India. The survey consisted of questions regarding participants’ recognition of and attitudes toward AI, their opinions on directions of AI development, and their perceptions regarding the future of AI in oral radiology. Results: Of the 250 participating dentists, 68% were already familiar with the concept of AI, 69% agreed that they expect to use AI for making dental diagnoses, 51% agreed that the major function of AI would be the interpretation of complicated radiographic scans, and 63% agreed that AI would have a future in India. Conclusion: This study concluded that dental specialists were well aware of the concept of AI, that AI programs could be used as an adjunctive tool by dentists to increasing their diagnostic precision when interpreting radiographs, and that AI has a promising role in radiological diagnosis.
How Does CEO Age Affect Firm Risk?
Jaideep Chowdhury,Jason Fink 한국증권학회 2017 Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies Vol.46 No.3
Previous research demonstrates that older CEOs are associated with lower firm equity risk and fewer R&D expenditures. We examine the risk-taking behavior of CEOs and find that not only do older CEOs invest in less R&D, they do so sub-optimally, in the sense that CEO age distorts the effect of q on R&D investment decisions. We find that it is specifically through the channel of R&D investment that CEO age is associated with the reduction in firm equity risk. Consistent with the sub-optimality of these distortions, firms with more effective corporate governance do not exhibit these associations.

The use of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and naturally occurring silica (Sand) as filtration media in water and waste water treatment systems is very common. While GAC offers the additional functionality of being an "adsorptive" filter for dissolved organics it is also more expensive. In this paper we present an experimental evaluation of the performance of a bed of GAC for colloid removal and compare the same with that from an equivalent bed of Sand. The experiments are performed in an "intermittent" manner over extended time, to "simulate" performance over the life of the filter bed. The experiments were continued till a significant drop in water flow rate through the bed was observed. A novel "deposition" and "detachment" rate based transient mathematical model is developed. It is observed that the data from the experiments can be explained by the above model, for different aqueous phase electrolyte concentrations. The model "parameters", namely the "deposition" and "detachment" rates are evaluated for the 2 filter media studied. The model suggests that the significantly better performance of GAC in colloid filtration is probably due to significantly lower detachment of colloids from the same. While the "deposition" rates are higher for GAC, the "detachment" rates are significantly lower, which makes GAC more effective than sand for colloid removal by over an order of magnitude.
Performance Analysis of Multimedia File System

Intensive I/O bandwidth demand of the multimedia streaming service puts significant burden on file system. Different from the legacy text based or image data, the semantics of the data in multimedia format can be significantly affected if the data block is not delivered by the predefined deadline. The legacy file system used in Unix or Unix like environment is designed to efficiently handle the files who sizes range from few hundreds of byte to several tens of gigabytes. This fundamental design philosophy results in the file system based on multi level skewed tree structure. Multi level i-node structure has significant drawback when the application performs sequential read operation. In this article. we present the result of the performance study of the file system which is specifically designed for handling multimedia streams. We implemented the file system on Linux Operating System environment and examines the performance behavior of the file system under streaming I/O workload. The result of the study shows that the propsed file system performs much more efficiently than the ext2 file system of Linux does.
Principal Component Analysis of BGP Update Streams
Kuai Xu,Jaideep Chandrashekar,Zhi-Li Zhang 한국통신학회 2010 Journal of communications and networks Vol.12 No.2
In this paper, we propose a novel methodology to identify border gateway protocol (BGP) updates associated with major events—affecting network reachability to multiple ASes—and separate them (statistically) from those attributable to minor events, which individually generate few updates, but collectively form the persistent background noise observed at BGP vantage points. Our methodology is based on principal component analysis, which enables us to transform and reduce the BGP updates into different AS clusters that are likely affected by distinct major events. We demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of our methodology through simulations and real BGP data.
아이콘 이미지 데이타베이스를 위한 시그니쳐에 기반한 공간 - 매치 검색 기법
장재우(Chang Jae Woo),(Jaideep Srivastava) 한국정보처리학회 1997 정보처리학회논문지 Vol.4 No.12
In multimedia information retrieval applications, content-based image retrieval is essential for retrieving relevant multimedia documents. The purpose of our paper is to provide effective representation and efficient retrieval of images when a pixel-level original image is automatically or manually transformed into its iconic image containing meaningful graphic descriptions, called icon objects. For this, we first propose new spatial match representation schemes to describe spatial relationships between icon objects accurately by expressing them as rectangles, rather than as points. In order to accelerate image searching, we also design an efficient retrieval method using a two-dimensional signature file organization. Finally, we show from our experiment that the proposed representation schemes achieve better retreval effectiveness than the 9-DLT(Direction Lower Triangular) scheme.

BGP route flap damping(RFD) was anecdotally considered to be a key contributor to the stability of the global Internet inter-domain routing system. However, it was recently shown that RFD can incorrectly suppress for substantially long periods of time relatively stable routes, i.e., routes that only fail occasionally. This phenomenon can be attributed to the complex interaction between BGP path exploration and how the RFD algorithm identifies route flaps. In this paper we identify a distinct characteristic of BGP path exploration following a single network event such as a link or router failure. Based on this characteristic, we distinguish BGP route updates during BGP path exploration from route flaps and propose a novel BGP route flap damping algorithm, RFD+. RFD+ has a number of attractive properties in improving Internet routing stability. In particular, it can correctly suppress persistent route flaps without affecting routes that only fail occasionally. In addition to presenting the new algorithm and analyzing its properties, we also perform simulation studies to illustrate the performance of the algorithm.
