      • The effect of stocking density on HSP70 and HSP90 in Broiler chickens

        Jagadish Beloor,Hye Kyeong Kang,Myung Sub Kim,Tae Soo Kim,Kyung Ja Park,Sea Huan Shon,In Surk Jang,Yang Soo Moon 한국가금학회 2008 한국가금학회 정기총회 및 학술발표회 Vol.25 No.-

Synthesis and Characterization of Ti50Ni(50−X)FeX Alloy Produced by Mechanical Alloying and Pressure-Less Sintering

        Jagadish Parida,Subash Chandra Mishra,Ajit Behera 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.4

This paper investigated the effect of iron on the Ti50Ni(50−X)FeX alloy fabricated by the powder metallurgy method. The differentpowder compositions are prepared by planetary ball milling for 8 h, then compacted at 600 MPa and sintered at 1050 °Cfor 4 h. Microstructure, chemical composition, and phase evolution of powder and sintered sample were investigated by SEM,EDS, and XRD. Also, the density, hardness, wear, compressive strength, and shape memory effect was measured for each ofthe sintered samples. SEM and XRD analysis show that sintered sample consists of the (Ni, Fe)-rich and Ti-rich phases withsome pores. Porosity has a major effect on the decreases in hardness, density, and compression strength. The lower coefficientof friction, maximum relative density, and higher hardness of 0.37, 66.31%, and 372.7VHN respectively was observed in the8Fe contained sample but maximum yield strength and compression strength of 67.66 MPa and 76.16 MPa respectively arefound without iron sample than other composition samples. The intermetallic secondary phase formation helps improve thehardness and wear properties, but the presence of martensite (NiTi) phase helps higher strength and shape memory effectvalues of the alloy. Abrasive wear mechanism obtained from SEM analysis of the worn surface of all wear samples.

Low Lysine Treatment Increases Adipogenic Potential of Bovine Intramuscular Preadipocytes

Beloor, Jagadish,Kang, Hye Kyeong,Yun, Cheol-Heui,Kim, Sang Hoon,Moon, Yang Soo Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2009 Animal Bioscience Vol.22 No.5

The molecular mechanism of adipocyte differentiation has been well documented. However, the effect of specific nutrients such as lysine on adipocyte differentiation is poorly understood especially in ruminant animals. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to elucidate the influence of lysine on adipocyte differentiation and adipogenic genes in cultured bovine preadipocytes. The preadipocytes were treated with different concentrations of lysine (40, 160, 320 mg/L) or troglitazone (10 ${\mu}M$) for 2 days and then subsequently cultured in differentiation medium until day 6. Expression levels of $C/EBP{\alpha}$ were significantly higher (p<0.001) in 40 and 160 mg/L lysine-treated cells compared to 320 mg/L treatment. Though there was an increasing trend in $PPAR{\gamma}$ expression levels with the decreasing lysine concentration, the results were not significant. The preadipocyte factor (pref-1), expression significantly (p<0.001) reduced with decreasing lysine concentration. The Oil red O staining results were better in 40 mg/L treated cells compared to 160 and 320 mg/L lysine treated cells. Our overall results indicate that insufficient supply of lysine increases the adipogenic potential in bovine intramuscular preadipocytes.

Expediting venous drainage in large anterolateral thigh flaps for scalp electrical burns in India: two case reports on the use of primary vein grafts for second vein anastomosis

        ( Jyotica Jagadish Chawaria ),( Parvati Ravula ),( Nazia Tabassum ),( Srikanth Rangachari ) 대한외상학회 2023 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.36 No.4

Large scalp defects resulting from high-voltage electrical burns require free flaps, preferably skin, to permit optimal coverage and enable future or simultaneous cranial vault reconstruction. The anterolateral thigh permits the harvest of a large area of skin supplied by a reliable perforator. The superficial temporal vessels offer the proximate choice of recipient vessels to enable adequate reach and coverage. The lack of a second vein at this site implies the inability to perform a second venous anastomosis; however, this obstacle can be overcome by using an interposition vein graft, to the neck veins primarily. This assures adequate venous drainage and complete flap survival.

Semi-active friction dampers for seismic control of structures

Kori, Jagadish G.,Jangid, R.S. Techno-Press 2008 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.4 No.4

Semi-active control systems have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years because these systems can operate on battery power alone, proving advantageous during seismic events when the main power source of the structure may likely fail. The behavior of semi-active devices is often highly non-linear and requires suitable and efficient control algorithm. This paper presents the comparative study and performance of variable semi-active friction dampers by using recently proposed predictive control law with direct output feedback. In this control law, the variable slip force of semi-active variable friction damper is kept slightly lower than the critical friction force, which allows the damper to remain in the slip state during an earthquake, resulting in improved energy dissipation capability. This control algorithm is able to produce a continuous and smooth slip forces for a variable friction damper. The numerical examples include a structure controlled with multiple variable semi-active friction dampers and with multiple passive friction dampers. A parameter, gain multiplier defined as the ratio of damper force to critical damper control force, is investigated under four different real earthquake ground motions, which plays an important role in the present control algorithm of the damper. The numerically evaluated optimum parametric value is considered for the analysis of the structure with dampers. The numerical results of the variable friction dampers show better performance over the passive dampers in reducing the seismic response of structures.

      • Screening of 185DelAG, 1014DelGT and 3889DelAG BRCA1 Mutations in Breast Cancer Patients from North-East India

Hansa, Jagadish,Kannan, Ravi,Ghosh, Sankar Kumar Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

Around 1.35 million people of worldwide suffer from breast cancer each year, whereas in India, 1 in every 17 women develops the disease. Mutations of the Breast Cancer 1 (BRCA1) gene account for the majority of breast/ovarian cancer families. The purpose of study was to provide a prevalence of BRCA1 germline mutations in the North-East Indian population. In relation to the personal and family history with the breast cancer, we found mutations in 6.25% and 12.5% respectively. Three mutations, 185DelAG, 1014DelGT and 3889DelAG, were observed in our North-East Indian patients in exons 2 and 11, resulting in truncation of the BRCA1 protein by forming stop codons individually at amino acid positions 39, 303 and 1265. Our results point to a necessity for an extensive mutation screening study of high risk breast cancer cases in our North-East Indian population, which will provide better decisive medical and surgical preventive options.

Free vibration analysis of rotating tapered blades using Fourier-p superelement

        Gunda, Jagadish Babu,Singh, Anuj Pratap,Chhabra, Parampal Singh,Ganguli, Ranjan Techno-Press 2007 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.27 No.2

A numerically efficient superelement is proposed as a low degree of freedom model for dynamic analysis of rotating tapered beams. The element uses a combination of polynomials and trigonometric functions as shape functions in what is also called the Fourier-p approach. Only a single element is needed to obtain good modal frequency prediction with the analysis and assembly time being considerably less than for conventional elements. The superelement also allows an easy incorporation of polynomial variations of mass and stiffness properties typically used to model helicopter and wind turbine blades. Comparable results are obtained using one superelement with only 14 degrees of freedom compared to 50 conventional finite elements with cubic shape functions with a total of 100 degrees of freedom for a rotating cantilever beam. Excellent agreement is also shown with results from the published literature for uniform and tapered beams with cantilever and hinged boundary conditions. The element developed in this work can be used to model rotating beam substructures as a part of complete finite element model of helicopters and wind turbines.

Serum Lipids Can Convert Bovine Myogenic Satellite Cells to Adipocytes

Beloor, Jagadish,Kang, Hye-Kyeong,Moon, Yang-Soo Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2010 Animal Bioscience Vol.23 No.11

Serum lipid (SL) is a commercially available cholesterol-rich, proteinaceous compound extracted from bovine serum. Here we investigated the adipogenic transdifferentiation potential of SL on bovine myogenic satellite cells. Exposure of satellite cells to SL could generate lipid droplets on day 2, and further exposure to SL increased cytoplasmic lipid accumulation giving adipocyte morphology. The expression analysis of PPAR gamma and GPDH adipocyte markers along with Oil-red-O staining results confirmed the transdifferentiation potential of SL. When cells were treated at different concentrations (5, 10, 20, $40{\mu}l$/ml) of SL, the results indicated that even levels as low as $5{\mu}l$ SL /ml could induce transdifferentiation, and maximum induction was obtained at $20{\mu}l$ SL/ml. After treatment with SL at different concentrations the expression levels of PPAR gamma varied significantly (p<0.05), whereas the expression of other adipogenic transcription factors showed no difference, indicating that SL acts through PPAR gamma. The combined effect of SL and troglitazone proved to be the best combination for induction of transdifferentiation compared to the individual effect of SL or troglitazone. Thus, overall results clearly show that SL induces transdifferentiation of bovine myogenic satellite cells to adipocytes.

New Unsymmetric Dinuclear Copper(II) Complexes of Trans-disubstituted Cyclam Derivatives: Spectral, Electrochemical, Magnetic, Catalytic, Antimicrobial, DNA Binding and Cleavage Studies

        R. Prabu,A. Vijayaraj,R. Suresh, L. Jagadish,V. Narayanan,L. Jagadish,V. Kaviyarasan 대한화학회 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.5

Six new binuclear copper(II) complexes have been prepared by template condensation of the dialdehydes 1,8-[bis(3-formyl-2-hydroxy-5-methyl)benzyl]-l,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (PC-a) and 1,8-[bis(3-formyl-2-hydroxy-5-bromo)benzyl]-l,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (PC-b) with appropriate aliphatic diamines, and copper(II) perchlorate. The structural features of the complexes have been confirmed by elemental analysis, IR,UV-vis and mass spectra etc. The electrochemical behavior of all the copper(II) complexes show two irreversible one electron reduction process. The room temperature magnetic moment studies depict the presence of an antiferromagnetic interaction in the binuclear complexes. The catechol oxidation and hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenylphosphate were carried out by using the complexes as catalyst. The antimicrobial screening data show good results. The binding of the complexes to calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) has been investigated with absorption and emission spectroscopy. The complex [Cu2L^(1a)] displays significant cleavage property of circular plasmid pBR322 DNA in to linear form. Spectral, electrochemical, magnetic and catalytic studies support the distortion of the copper ion geometry that arises as the macrocyclic ring size increases.
