Note-Taking as a Self-Regulated Learning Strategy and Cognitive Style : Impact on Immediate and Delayed Learner's Academic Performance

This research was to investigate the impact of cognitive style and self- regulated learning strategy such as note-taking methods on learners' students' academicper formance. Statistical analysis result showed that both cognitive style and note-taking methods did not have a significant effect on an immediate test.However, there is a significant main effect of cognitive style on a delayed test. Field-dependent students significantly outperformed field-independent students on the delayed test. Also, the main effect of note-taking methods on the delayed test was significant. Students who took notes in a matrix scored higher on the delayed test than did students who took notes in a free format.

Theoretical Background of Interaction and Online Discussion in the Web-Based Learning Environment

The purpose of this study was to review literature, theories, and models on interaction, online discussion, and e-learning in the web-based learning environment. Literature reviews suggested ten factors: the attitude toward computer-mediated communication, the attitude toward writing, intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, previous knowledge on the subject, the relevance of the discussion topic, the interaction with instructors, physical environment, psychological environment, support. These factors can be categorized into 3 groups such as learner-related factors, design-related factors, and environment-related factors. Based on this study, the following recommendations were offered: alleviate anxieties on writing, assign students to the discussion group according to the previous knowledge on the topic, implement motivational strategies, assign grades for adequate portion, offer discussion topic which learners consider relevant to them, interact with learners actively, facilitate learners to interact with peer learners. Implications this inquiry into interaction and online discussion for online learning and instruction were also discussed.

Carcinoid tumors have been reported in a wide range of organs but most commonly involve the lungs, bronchi and gastrointestinal tract. Within the gastrointestinal tract, appendix is the most common location for carcinoid, followed by the distal small intestine, the rectum, and the stomach. Among these, primary involvement of the ampulla of Vater is extremely rare. We report a case of carcinoid tumor of ampulla of Vater. A 62-year-old man presented with epigastric soreness. Gastroduodenal endoscopy showed hyperemic bulging mass on ampulla of Vater and diagnosed as carcinoid tumor by histologic finding, with immunohistochemical study. In ^(111)In-octreoscan, tumor had regional lymph node metastasis, but no evidence of distant metastasis. Pancreatoduodenectomy with lymph node dissection was performed.

Fungus such as Candida albicans is a normal flora that is frequently found in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, vaginal mucosa in a normal person. However, candida can cause opportunistic infection in an immune compromised host. Candidiasis has broad spectrum of disease from mucocutaneous infection to invasive or disseminated infection. But, it is rarely reported that candida is associaed with gastrointestinal tract disease in a healthy adult. The case of gastric ulcer associated with candida particularly in a health adult is reported with relevant literature.

Radiofrequency ablation(RFA), as a form of minimally invasive therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma, has become an important treatment modality. Because of limitation of surgery, RFA has become standard therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in some situations. But there are some complications of RFA such as bleeding, infection, hematoma, adjacent organ thermal damage including intestinal perforation, needle track seeding, and so on. There are few reports in the literature that systematically evaluate the incidence of needle tract seeding and its associated risk factors. And only 2 cases of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA were reported in Korea. We report a case of needle tract seeding of hepatocellular carcinoma after RFA.

The purpose of this study was to find the relationship between feedback and motor learning. Eeedback cannot be ignored in motor learning situations. The three main functions that feedback can serve are information, motivation and reinforcement. Feedback have been classified into intrinsic and augmented. Feedback by an instructor about the consequences of a movement is called knowledge of results (KR). while feedback concerning the movement pattern itself is called Knowledge of performance (KP). Intrinsic feedback supplies a primary motor task during or after movement, and augmented feed­back is supplied to enhance motor learning and performance. Feedback should be supplied to the situations like these: 1. Feedback should be supplied to the precision of it, the more precise feedback is. The more efficient acquisition of skill is. 2. Feedback should be supplied immediately after a movement is completed. 3. Feedback should be supplied after a learner understands the mortor tasks. 4. Feedback should be supplied to a learner, which should be related to the learner's degree of progress in learning. 5. We should be developed the intrinsic feedback in the primary stage of motor learning, and we should be used the augmented feedback according to the degree of progression in motor learning.

벼 乾沓直播栽培時 播種期가 乾物生産에 미치는 影響

This experiment was carried out to obtain indispensable information to establish comprehensive cultural method of rice in direct seeding on dry paddy at Chungbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services. Effect of seeding date on dry matter production, yield components and yield were studied. Seeding on May 5 ensured the highest maximum number of tillers, while transplanting on May 20 gave the highest rate of effective tillers. Number of effective tillers was greater in the order of Hwajinbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo, Daekwanbyeo. Lengths of upper three leaves were increased at later seeding, but leaf width was not affected by seeding date. Ratio of leaf blade weight was higher in earlier seeding during 30 days before heading but was higher in later seeding during 30 days after seeding, and was higher in the order of Hwajinbyeo, Hwaseongbyeo, Daekwanbyeo. CGR, RGR and NAR were not significantly different among seeding dates during 30 days before heading, but were lower in later seeding during 30 days after seeding. LAR was not affected by seeding date during 30 days before heading, but was higher at seeding on May 5 in heading date and during 30 days after heading. Dry weight of leaf blade, leaf sheath and culm, ear and total biomass during 30 days before heading and heading were highest in May 5 seeding. Daekwanbyeo and Hwaseongbyeo in May 5 seeding and Hwajinbyeo in April 20 seeding brought the highest yield with greater number of spikelets, higher ripening ratio and greater 1,000 grain weight, and harvest index and grain/straw ratio were Increased at earlier seeding. There were significantly positive correlations between number of panicles per m2 and LAI at 30 days before heading and heading, dry matter weight of leaf blade and total mass at heading. On the other hand, there were significantly negative correlations between seeding date and ripened grain ratio. 1,000 grain weight and yield, and between 1,000 grain weight and leaf length of 2nd, respectively.

A method for the direct current polarographic determination of metallic zinc dissolved directly in organic solvent, salicylaldehyde, as metal-solubility in salicylaldehyde acetonitrile and 0.2M LiClO_4 supporting electrolyte, was studied. The solution of zinc was taken into a cell. After dried nitrogen gas was passed through it for 20 min. the direct current polarogram in the region of applied potential from 0.0-1.0V(vs. SCE) was recorded and all experiments was carried out at 25.0 ± 0.5℃. A reversible polarographic reduction wave was obtained and the reduction half wave potential was-0.56V(vs, SCE). Zinc was determined by refering to the calibraton curve.

시공간 그래프는 고전약학의 운동학에서부터 많이 활용되어 왔다. 그것은 수식이 갖는 의미표현의 제약을 넘어서 그 의미를 좀더 구체적으로 시각화 할 수 있는 그래프의 특성때문일 것이다. 특수 상대성 이론의 운동학을 기술하는데도 이 그래프를 도입하여 고적역학적 그래프와 비교하여 그 특성을 먼저 이해한다면 보다 쉽게 특수 상대론적 운동학을 이해할 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. 따라서 본 연구는 상대론적 시공간 좌표계의 특성을 보다 근본적으로 이해할 수 있는 과정을 소개함으로써 특수 상대론적 시공간 개념에 대한 구체적인 이해와 이를 이용한 로렌츠 변환식의 유도에 연구의 목적을 두었다. The graphical method has been used widely in solving problems on classical kinematics because it has the advantage of visualiztion. The same advantage is expected in solving relativistic kinematics problems which are also closely related to motion. In this study, Lorentz transformation formula was derived using a spacetime graph only. In the derivation, the method of representing events in the two different coordinates and invariance of spacetime interval were used. Pure geometrical method was applied without using any algebraic method. If the students who are familiar with graphical representation of motion will understand this method more easily than the algebraic method which appear in most textbooks.
