Cleidocranial dysplasia is a rare and autosomal dominent disorder characterized by aplasia or hypoplasia of the clavicles, an open fontanelle, dental abnormalities, and short stature. A 17-year-old female who presented with short stature and subsequent delay in eruption of permanent teeth is described. she showed the abnormal hypermobility of the shoulder, ocular hypertelorism and concave nasal bridge. Radiographs revealed the underdeveloped maxilla, defect of the cranium in the fontanelle region, and aplasia of the clavicles. Characteristically, panoramic view revealed near parallel-sided borders of the ascending ramus and downward curvature of the zygomatic arch with hypoplasia. The prolonged retention of deciduous teeth with delayed eruption of permanent teeth and multiple embedded supernumerary teeth were striking. Radiographic and clinical investigations revealed Cleidocranial dysplasia.
선천성 고혈압 흰쥐와 정상혈압 흰쥐의 혈관 평활근 세포의 성장 특성

목적 : 선천성 고혈압 흰쥐(SHR)와 정상 혈압 흰쥐(WKY)의 혈관 평활근 세포를 배양하여, 그 성장 특성을 조사하였다. 대상 및 방법 : SHR 및 WKY를 pentobarbital(50㎎/㎏)로 마취하여 적출한 흉부대동맥으로부터 혈관평활근세포를 얻었으며 이 세포를 이차배양하여 일정한 시간간격으로 trypsin을 처리하여 세포를 떼어낸후 혈구계(hemocytometer)로 세포수를 헤아렸다. 결과 : SHR과 WKY에서 얻은 혈관평활근세포에서 형태학적 차이는 없었고, SHR이 WKY보다 밀생상태에 더 빨리 도달하며 밀생상태에 도달했을때 SHR이 WKY보다 세포밀도가 더 높게 나타났다. 결론: SHR이 WKY보다 증식속도와 증식밀도가 더 높게 나타나는 것으로 보아 SHR에 성장 억제 조절 기전의 장애가 있음을 시사한다. To study the generation and processes of hypertension, characteristics of vascular smooth muscle cell were observed in cultured aortic smooth mescle cell from spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and normotensive Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY). The degree of cell proliferation increased with escalating concentrations of fetal bovine serum(FBS) in cells of both SHR and WKY control rats. These results have shown that 10% FBS, which was the usual concentration in culture medium, was better concentration of medium in cell proliferation than 5% FBS, 10% calf serum, 10% horse serum, or 1% bovine serum albumin. There were no detectable differences in the morphology of cells obtained from SHR and WKY. Comparative studies have shown that cultured vascular smooth muscle cells from SHR proliferated to a higher cell number, grew to a greater density, and have greater specific growth rate than those of the WKY. These results provide possibility of a disturbances on inhibitory conrol to vascular smooth muscle cell growth in SHR.

Inconel 690 alloy has widely been used in power plant and high temperature facilities because it has high thermal resistance and toughness. But, we have little design data about the creep behaviors of the alloy. Therefore, in this study, an apparatus has been designed and built for conduction creep tests under constant load conditions. A series of creep tests on Inconel 690 alloy have been performed to get the basic design data and life prediction of inconel products and we have gotten the following results. First, the stress exponents decrease as the test temperatures increase. Secondly, the creep activation energy gradually decreases as the stresses becomes bigger. Thirdly, the constant of Larson-Moller parameters on this alloy is estimated about 10. And last, the fractographs at the creep rupture show both the ductile and the brittle fracture according to the creep conditions.

In domestic industry, there is no manufacturers specialized in the production of cutting tools for the difficult cutting materials. Then, we have few data about them. In this study, the gear driving high speed lathe on which is mounted by a tool dynamometer and high speed CCTV were used to measure the various machining characteristics. Relations among the cutting speed, feed rate per revolution, cutting depth, cutting forces and surface roughness were graphically analyzed under 64 cutting conditions. The process of chip, i.e., generation, development and falling-off also were visualized for the characterization of chip shapes of the difficult-to-cut materials using the CCTV.
탄성력이 관계되는 역학적 에너지 보존에 관한 지도상의 문제점과 개선 방안

현행 고등학교 물리 교과서와 대학 일반물리학 교재에 나타난 용수철 진자의 진동에서 역학적 에너지 보존에 관한 기준점 설정의 불명확성과 오해의 소지를 지적하고 이를 해결하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 혼란이 생기는 원인은 근본적으로 좌표 기준, 위치 에너지의 기준 설정에서 나타나는 것으로써 군등장인 경우, 거리에 비례하는 위치 에너지(mgx)이므로 기준을 어디에 잡아도 무방하나 그렇지 않는 탄성 위치 에너지의 경우(1/2)kx^2에는 주의를 요한다. 본 연구는 기준 위치 설정에 따라 위치 에너지 표현식이 다름을 보이고 이를 고등학교 및 대학 일반물리학 수준에서 지도할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. A typical representation of elastic potential energy is (1/2)kx^2, where x represents the distance from the spring's unstratched end point. However, this representation will be correct only in a particular situation that the origin of the coordinate and the reference point of the potential energy are at x=0. Without this condition, the potential representation, (1/2)kx^2, is no longer correct. In this study, the misconceptions found in high school textbooks and university laboratory manual were exemined and presented a improved method to teach elastic potential energy. The generalized form of elastic potential energy with arbitrary reference point in coordinate system as well as potential energy was derived. To adopt this idea in high school level, a graphical method of deriving the generalized form of elastic potential energy was devised.

Elastofibroma is a rare, benign, soft-tissue tumor that usually located at the inferior pole of the scapula. It is important to differentiate this tumor from other soft-tissue tumors such as sarcoma, fibromatosis, metastatic tumor, and lipoma. A 57-year-old female who complained of chronic both shoulder pain was admitted to our hospital with bilateral, soft tissue masses located in the subscapular region. Ultrasonography, CT and MRI images showed bilateral inhomogeneous tumors that measured 7×3×6 cm. This was compatible with elastofibroma by fine-needle aspiration biopsy. Shoulder pain was gone with decreasing size of masses after conservative treatment and avoiding workload to the shoulder. We present this case with a review of literatures.
