Destination Management Organizations and Sports Events
Jacek Borzyszkowski 한국관광학회 2014 International Journal of Tourism Sciences Vol.14 No.2
The article presents the operations undertaken by city-level organizations in connection with major sport events. The analysis focuses on three events: two related to football (i.e. the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, and 2008 UEFA European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland) and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The article consists of two basic parts. The first one contains theoretical considerations related to the issue, i.e. understanding of the concept of destination management organizations (DMOs) and their operations, including those connected with large sport events. The second part is an attempt to characterize activities performed by selected urban DMOs in order to promote and publicize large football events hosted by these cities. It has been demonstrated that specific entities undertake various operations in this area. The majority of these are connected with promotion, yet it is possible to also identify other types of activity (e.g. related to trainings).
Oligoetherols and polyurethane foams based on cyclotriphosphazene of reduced flammability
Jacek Lubczak,Renata Lubczak 한국고분자학회 2023 Macromolecular Research Vol.31 No.5
New oligoetherols with based on cyclotriphosphazene ring were synthesized by functionalization of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene with glycidol followed by reaction with ethylene glycol and glycerol. Oligoetherols were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, and MALDI-ToF and hydroxyl number as well as physical properties like density, viscosity and surface tension. The oligoetherols were further converted into polyurethane foams. The rigid foams of enhanced thermal stability and considerably diminished flammability were obtained and their apparent density, water uptake and polymerization shrinkage, thermal conductivity coefficient and thermal stability were determined. The flammability of foams was studied by microcalorimetric methods, horizontal flaming test and oxygen index. The obtained polyurethane foams with incorporated cyclotriphosphazene ring are self-extinguishing.
Stability analyses of a cylindrical steel silo with corrugated sheets and columns
Jacek Tejchman,Mateusz Sondej,Piotr Iwicki,Michał Wójcik 국제구조공학회 2016 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.20 No.1
The paper presents comprehensive quasi-static stability analysis results for a real funnel-flow cylindrical steel silo composed of horizontally corrugated sheets strengthened by vertical thin-walled column profiles. Linear buckling and non-linear analyses with geometric and material non-linearity were carried out with a perfect and an imperfect silo by taking into account axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric loads imposed by a bulk solid following Eurocode 1. Finite element simulations were carried out with 3 different numerical models (single column on the elastic foundation, 3D silo model with the equivalent orthotropic shell and full 3D silo model with shell elements). Initial imperfections in the form of a first eigen-mode for different wall loads and from 꼒n-situ. measurements with horizontal different amplitudes were taken into account. The results were compared with Eurocode 3. Some recommendations for the silo dimensioning were elaborated.
Dynamic Multithreshold Signature without the Trusted Dealer
Jacek Pomykała,Tomasz Warchoł 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.3 No.3
In the article a new threshold signature for dynamic groups without the trusted dealer is presented. The scheme is based on the Boneh, Lynn and Shacham short signature from the Weil pairing. The scheme provides an efficient solution especially for the family of dynamic groups. We prove the security of the scheme in the random oracle model assuming the chosen target CDH problem.

Objectives. Despite the increasing number of research concerning the applications of the Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV) in medicine, its usefulness is still under discussion. The aim of this study is to present a methodology developed in our Department for the LDV intraoperative assessment of ossicular chain reconstruction. Methods. Ten patients who underwent “second look” tympanoplasty were involved in the study. The measurements of the acoustic conductivity of the middle ear were performed using the LDV system. Tone bursts with carrier frequencies of 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 Hz set in motion the ossicular chain. The study was divided into four experiments that examined the intra- and interindividual reproducibility, the utility of the posterior tympanotomy, the impact of changes in the laser beam angle, and the influence of reflective tape presence on measurements. Results. There were no statistically significant differences between the two measurements performed in the same patient. However, interindividual differences were significant. In all cases, posterior tympanotomy proved to be useful for LDV measurements of the ossicular prosthesis vibrations. In most cases, changing the laser beam angle decreased signal amplitude about 1.5% (not significant change). The reflective tape was necessary to achieve adequate reflection of the laser beam. Conclusion. LDV showed to be a valuable noncontact intraoperative tool for measurements of the middle ear conductive system mobility with a very good intraindividual repeatability. Neither a small change in the angle of the laser beam nor performing the measurements through posterior tympanotomy showed a significant influence on the results. Reflective tape was necessary to obtain good quality responses in LDV measurements.
