<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, the immunomodulatory effects of astemizole (AST) against lipopolysaccharide (LPS) mediated T cell proliferation and induction of inflammation in RAW macrophages (<I>in vitro</I>), and zebrafish larvae (<I>in vivo</I>) were determined. AST significantly suppressed the phagocytic activity of macrophages (3.303 ± 0.115) and inhibited lysosomal enzyme secretion (13.27 ± 2.52) induced by LPS (100 ng/ml). Moreover, AST subdued the morphological deformities such as yolk sac edema (YSE) and spinal curvature curving (SC) by inhibiting ROS generation in zebrafish larvae 24 h after microinjection of LPS (0.5 mg/ml). AST was also shown to inhibit the production of the major cytokines TNF-α (150.8 ± 0.6), IL-1β (276.5 ± 1.6), and PGE2 (194.6 ± 0.6) pg/ml in RAW macrophages. It also subdued the ROS induced iNOS and COX-2 generated in response to LPS mediated immune dysfunctions in zebrafish larvae. These results suggested the immunosuppression effect of AST. Furthermore, induction of immune-suppression due to AST resulted in significant down-regulation of innate immunity directed by MAPK (p38, ERK and JNK), which was found to be associated with decreased production of acute inflammatory mediators both <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>. To confirm its activity, splenocytes were prepared using BALB/c mice and a mitogen activated splenocyte proliferation assay was also performed. Our findings suggest that AST has the ability to inhibit T cell proliferation and cytokine secretion both <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> by interfering with MAPK signaling pathway. Taken together, our results showed the potential of AST as a countermeasure to immune dysfunction and suggest its use as immunosuppressant compound in inflammatory disease.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> T cell proliferation due to Con A was inhibited by Astemizole (AST). </LI> <LI> AST curbed the increased levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and PGE2 resulted in response to LPS (<I>Escherichia coli</I> 055: B5) in RAW macrophages. </LI> <LI> AST subdue the ROS induced iNOS and COX-2 in zebrafish larvae. </LI> <LI> AST mediated immunosuppression results in down regulation of innate immunity <I>via</I> MAPK pathways. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
A NOTE ON SOLUTIONS FOR AN ITERATIVE FUNCTIONAL EQUATION IN 2-BANACH SPACES
JYOTSANA JAKHAR,Renu Chugh,RAMU DUBEY,Lakshmi Narayan Mishra 장전수학회 2021 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.31 No.1
In this work, we explain an iterative equation for convex solutions in 2-Banach spaces. Our aim is to discuss the existence of monotone solutions in the real 2-Banach spaces and obtain the forward condition under which the solutions are convex or con- cave in order. Using the expansion method, we establish a general construction of the convex solutions for the iterative functional equation.
An Empirical Approach for Estimation of the Software Development Effort
Amit Kumar Jakhar,Kumar Rajnish 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.2
The number of standards and methods has been developed for software estimation in the last many decades. These methods help practitioners and engineers to estimate the effort accurately, but they found their inability to estimate software precisely. In this paper, an empirical approach is developed to measure the software development effort. The well-known PROMISE data sets of 217 projects are collected and the several performance factors are used in this paper to validate the estimated results. This work also considers the most popular model for software effort estimating, i.e. COCOMO. And the result of the COCOMO model and proposed an empirical approach is compared with the actual effort, and concludes that the proposed approach estimates the software development effort better than COCOMO in several aspects.

Mushrooms are known to complement chemotherapy and radiation therapy by countering the side-effects of cancer. Recently, a great deal of interest has been developed to isolate novel bioactive compounds from mushrooms because of their numerous health beneficial effects. Chemically water-extractable polysaccharide (MFKF-AP1β) was isolated from fruiting bodies of mushroom Fomes fomentarius. In this research, we investigated the anticancer effects of MFKF-AP1β on human lung carcinoma A549 cell. Results showed that MFKF-AP1β distinctly inhibited A549 cells growth in a dose-dependent manner and induced cell apoptosis evidenced by apoptosis assay. Besides that, MFKF-AP1β induced the LDH release and causes morphological alterations. Furthermore, the MFKF-AP1β (25.100 μg/ml) resulted in a significant single strand DNA breakage, on A549 cells as shown by comet assay. Taken together, our results demonstrate that MFKF-AP1β possesses strong antitumor activities through the induction of apoptosis. All these results suggested that MFKF-AP1β has evident anticancer activity through apoptotic induction.
Elucidations on the effect of lanthanum doping in ZnO towards enhanced performance nanogenerators
Pandey Rajagopalan,Pramila Jakhar,I. A. Palani,Vipul Singh,Sang Jae Kim 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.7 No.1
Energy harvesting using semiconducting piezoelectric materials is one of the key areas of current research due to its high biocompatibility, low impedance, and high temperature workable range. In this work, we have optimized the doping of Lanthanum in ZnO towards the realization of enhanced output nanogenerator. We have varied the percentage of lanthanum (0, 1, 2.5, 5 and 7.5%) in the ZnO and systematically studied the piezoelectric response of each device. The piezoelectric output improved three to fourfolds by the incorporation of Lanthanum above 2.5%. The voltage response was further escalated by the controlled annealing in an oxygen environment. The doped and annealed device show eight to ninefolds improved output (~ 13.5 V) compared to the intrinsic device (~ 1.6 V). Material properties were investigated thoroughly along with the piezoelectric using various characterization tools. The device show a high maximum power density (~ 2.5 mW/m2) and was used to charge several commercial capacitors. Finally, the device was demonstrated to work in intruder-safety alarm system application as low-cost device.
