The aim of this study was to fabricate a new kind of hybrid fabric composites with the cross-linked electrospun poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) composite nanofibres. The experiments were performed with the 10 wt.% PVB/ethanol solution for electrospinning where the modified silica nanoparticles (mSiO2), the oxidised single-walled carbon nanotubes (o- SWCNT) and the o-SWCNT/mSiO2 hybrid nanoparticles were added to the solution. The electrospun fibres were crosslinked with glutaraldehyde (GA) afterwards in order to reinforce the composite structure by bonding to the p-aramid fabrics. The chemical and thermo-mechanical properties of the hybrid fabric composites were evaluated. The greatest improvement in thermo-mechanical properties was achieved by the sample which contained the cross-linked PVB fibres with the o- SWCNT/mSiO2 hybrid nanoparticles.

A comparison of the performances of two diferent approaches of cubic equations of state models, basedon a classical van der Wals and mixing rules incorporating the GEequation, was carried out for corelation ofVapor-Liquid Equilibria (VLE), HEand cPE data alone, and simultaneous correlation of VLE+HE, VLE+cPE, HE+cPE andVLE+HE+cPE data for the diethers (1,4-dioxane or 1,3-dioxolane) with n-alkane systems. For all calculations thePeng-Robinson-Stryjek-Vera cubic equation of state (PRSV CEOS) was used. A family of mixing rules for thePRSV CEOS based on the Modified van der Wals one-fluid mixing rule (MvdW1) and two well-known CEOS/GEmixing rules (MHV1 and MHV2), was considered. The NRTL equation, as the GEmodel with linear or reciprocal tem-perature dependent parameters, was incorporated in the CEOS/GEmodels. The results obtained by the CEOS/GEmodelsexhibit significant improvement in comparison to the MvdW1 models.

The ability of binary deep eutectic solvent choline chloride+1,2-propanediol (DES1; 1 : 3 mole ratio) and ternary deep eutectic solvent choline chloride+1,2-propanediol+water (DES2; 1 : 3 : 3 mole ratio) for breaking the azeotropes hexane/heptane+ethanol by means of liquid-liquid extraction was evaluated. Liquid-liquid equilibrium experiments were performed at 298.15 K, at atmospheric pressure, and data were correlated by NRTL and UNIQUAC models. Thermodynamic properties (density, viscosity, refractive index and speed of sound) of DES1 and DES2 were determined in temperature range from 288.15K to 333.15K and at atmospheric pressure. Extraction ability of the investigated eutectics yielded promising results in comparison with conventional solvents. Besides a high selectivity towards ethanol, an advantage of DES2 is its lower viscosity and higher distribution ratio values, which is an important aspect for a potential industrial application. Another advantage of both investigated eutectics is their easy and high recoverability from the extract layer based on their negligible vapor pressure.

Objectives: To determine the epidemiological features of patients and animals after bites/scratches from rabies-suspected animals in Zenica-Doboj Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Methods: Data from all patients (and the causative animals) admitted to the Antirabies Service of the Institute for Health and Food Safety Zenica in the 2009-2017 period were analyzed, including age, sex, anatomical site of the bite/scratch, animal type (stray/owned/wildlife), veterinary observations of the animal, and whether antirabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) was indicated and/or administered. Results: In total, 1716 patients were admitted. Bites/scratches were most frequently recorded during April and May (n=181, 10.5% and n=163, 9.5%, respectively). The persons admitted were mostly from the Zenica municipality (n=1278, 74.5%; incidence: 11.55/ 1000), which is 66.6% urbanized. Males were more frequently represented (n=1089, 63.6%). The patients were mostly 50-64 and 25-49 years of age (n=425, 24.7% and n=390, 22.7%, respectively). Dog bites were the most common cause (n=1634, 95.1%, of which n=1258, 77.0% were caused by stray dogs). PEP was indicated for 997 (58.1%) patients. Only 340 (19.9%) animals underwent veterinary observations (3.1% of stray and 76.1% of owned animals). The largest number of injuries were presented at lower extremities, 1044 (60.8%) cases. Conclusions: Zenica-Doboj Canton is a rabies-free region. Due to the high rate of stray animals not undergoing veterinary observations, the non-existence of a unique dog registry, and the consequent lack of information about stray animals in terms of number, vaccination, neutering, and euthanasia, there is an urgent need for improving the prevention and control of rabies within the One Health framework.

This study proposed a 100 kHz, 5V/11V boost converter with an integrated gate driver for a power switching device using recessed E-mode MIS-HFETs. The integrated gate driver consisting of multi-stages DCFL (Direct-Coupled FET Logic) inverters and a buffer stage, has large input swing (up to 10 V) and wide noise margin with gate dielectric, which benefits applications requiring large gate swing without any additional drivers or level shifters. The impact of transistor size on rise times and fall times have been studied. Either buffer stage or larger width of DCFL inverter can reduce rise times from 2.4 μs to less than 0.5 μs at 100 kHz, so the output voltage of boost converter is increased by 10 % at a duty cycle of 0.7. However, large buffer width can result in high gate overshoot and oscillation, indicating careful design to balance switching speed and oscillation.
