Factory automation and efficiency-oriented unmanned factories have become the major trend in manufacturing systems in recent years. However, human-centered manufacturing is gaining attention because of the flexibility it offers to manufacturing systems in terms of both product variety and volume. Although some digital human models capable of estimating the power generated by human muscles during various manufacturing-related tasks have been developed, a more effective method of analyzing muscle power is required to better estimate human muscle power. In the present study, a new musculoskeletal model taking the function of bi-articular muscles into consideration is applied to estimate the power generated by human muscles. The purpose of this study is to optimize working conditions that satisfy both the height of subjects and their maximum muscle power during a lifting operation. Results indicate the model is able to predict the heaviest weight and maximum height that this weight can be lifted to keep muscle power of the upper limb of a subject under 70% of the maximum muscle power. Moreover, the analyzed muscle power of the upper limb from experimental lifting operations is in good agreement optimized environments where humans can work efficiently and safely considering their physical characteristics.

Recombinant Rhodopseudomonas palustris, harboring the carotenoid-metabolizing gene crtI (CrtIBS), and whose color changes from greenish yellow to red in response to inorganic As(III), was cultured in transparent microplate wells illuminated with a light emitting diode (LED) array. The cells were seen to grow better under near-infrared light, when compared with cells illuminated with blue or green LEDs. The absorbance ratio of 525 to 425 nm after cultivation for 24 h, which reflects red carotenoid accumulation, increased with an increase in As(III) concentrations. The detection limit of cultures illuminated with near-infrared LED was 5 μg/l, which was equivalent to that of cultures in test tubes illuminated with an incandescent lamp. A near-infrared LED array, in combination with a microplate, enabled the simultaneous handling of multiple cultures, including CrtIBS and a control strain, for normalization by the illumination of those with equal photon flux densities. Thus, the introduction of a near-infrared LED array to the assay is advantageous for the monitoring of arsenic in natural water samples that may contain a number of unknown factors and, therefore, need normalization of the reporter event.

For high speed railway vehicles, we consider a vibration of flexible track/wheel system It is very Important to deal With the complex phenomena of high-speed vehicles that can be occurred
In the vertical vibration of the system From a viewpoint of multibody dynamics, this kind of problem needs accurate analysis because the system Includes mutual dynamic behaviors of rigid body and flexible body The simulation technique for the complex problems is also discussed We consider the high-speed translation, rail elasticity, elastic supports under the rail and contact rigidity Eigen value analysis is also completed to verify the mechanism of the coupled vertical vibration of the system
Composite Strips with Various Anchor Systems for Retrofitting Concrete Beams
Isamu Yoshitake,Yail J. Kim,Keiyu Yumikura,Yoichi Mimura 한국콘크리트학회 2011 International Journal of Concrete Structures and M Vol.5 No.1
This paper presents the performance of anchor systems for reinforced concrete beams retrofitted with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. Nine simply-supported beams are tested with various anchor systems such as steel hooks, steel plates with anchor bolts, CFRP anchor plates, and near-surface mounted (NSM) CFRP strip. The effects of these anchors on the behavior of the retrofitted beams are discussed, including load-carrying capacity, failure modes, and ductility characteristics. Test results indicate that end-anchorage is an important parameter when a CFRP-retrofit design is conducted. Mechanical bolts and NSM CRFP anchors are recommended.
