사상의학의 음양론 구조와 윤리적 함의

전통적인 동양의학은 인간의 인체의 생리와 병리의 원리와 진단과 치료와 약물에 대해 오행이론을 기초로 구축되었다. 이제마는 기초가 되는 이론을 오행에서 음양으로 바꾸었다. 그렇기 때문에 음양론은 이제마 사상의학의 근본이론이라 할 수 있다. 이제마는 음양의 대대원리를 구체적으로 소장지리와 양상음하구조에 적용하여 인체, 마음, 음식, 에너지를 음양론적 구조로 짜놓았다. 음식섭취를 통해 얻어지는 온열양한은 온열 기운은 상방향으로 양한 기운은 하방향으로 작용한다. 태소음양 사상인을 구분하는데 폐비간신의 크기에 따라 나누었다. 태소음양인은 각각에 해당하는 장이 서로 대대(對待)관계로 구성된다. 폐가 크고 간이 작으면 태양인, 간이 크고 폐가 작으면 태음인으로 분류하였다. 비가 크고 신이 작으면 소양인, 신이 크고 비가 작으면 소음인으로 분류하였다. 인간의 심성인 애노희락도 애노는 양의 심성이라 위로 향하고, 희락은 음의 심성으로 아래로 하강한다. 신체에너지인 신기혈정도 마찬가지이다. 인간의 감각기능의 작동과 더불어 감정의 조절에 대해 유학에서는 윤리적 당위성에 입각하여 요청한다. 이제마는 인간의 감각기관과 감정의 조절이 인체의 건강에 미치는 영향이 지대함을 강조한다. 이는 유학의 윤리론을 생리적으로 확장하여 강조한 것이다. 인체에 저장된 신체에너지의 등급이 감각기관의 작용에 달려있고 장부에 주입되는 에너지의 건강도는 인간의 감정조절에 달려있다는 것이다. 감각기관을 예에 맞게 사용하고 감정을 적절히 조절하는 문제를 당위적 유학윤리에 국한하지 않고 생리적 효용성으로 전환하여 사람들의 현실적 건강욕구를 유인할 수 있다는 데 사상의학의 윤리적 함의가 있다. Traditional oriental medicine was built on the basis of the five elements theory of the principle, diagnosis, treatment, and drugs of the human body's physiology and pathology. Lee Jema changed the underlying theory from the five elements to yin and yang. Therefore, the theory of yin and yang can be said to be a fundamental theory of Sasang Medicine. Jema applied Yin-Yang Daedae Principle(陰陽待對:the idea that yin and yang need each other keenly though they are in antagonistic relationships) specifically Sojangjili(消長之理:The theory that shade decreases when sunlight increases) and the structure of the Yangsang-Yinha(陽上陰下:A structure in which the yang is above and the yin is below) and woven the human body, mind, food, and energy into a yin-yang theory structure. Among warm hot cool cold energy(溫熱凉寒) obtained through food intake, the warm hot energy acts in the upward direction and the cool cold energy in the downward direction. Taesoeumyangin(太少陰陽人) Sasangin(四象人) is classified according to the size of the lung, spleen, liver, and kidney(肺脾肝腎). In Taesoeumyangin(太少陰陽人), each viscera is composed of Daedae relationship. If the lungs are large and the liver is small, it’s Taeyangin, large liver and small lungs were classified as Taeumin. Large spleen and small kidney were classified as Soyangin, and large and small spleen were classified as Soeumin. In the case of Happiness, Anger, Sadness, and Fun (喜怒哀樂), which are human minds, Happiness and Anger are yang's mind, so they go upward, and Sadness, and Fun are yin's mind, so they descend downward. The body's energy, Singi Hyeoljeong (神氣血精) is the same. Confucianism calls for the operation of human sensory functions and the regulation of emotions based on ethical justification. Lee Jema emphasizes that the regulation of human sense organs and emotions has a profound effect on human body health. This is a physiological extension of the ethics of Confucianism to emphasize. The level of body energy stored in the human body depends on the action of the sensory organs, and the measure of the health of the energy injected into the viscera and entrails depends on the human emotion regulation. Sasang Medicine has ethical implications in that the use of sensory organs according to propriety and proper control of emotions is not limited to the Justifiable Confucianism ethic, but can be converted into physiological utility to attract people's realistic health needs.

A study on a composite support vector quantile regression with varying coefficient model

Varying coefficient models are widely used to explore dynamic patterns of regression parameters among regression models available to avoid the curse of dimensionality. In this paper we propose a new regression estimation of the varying coefficient composite support vector quantile regression which combines the formulations of the composite quantile regression and the varyng coefficient support vector quantile regression which is a nonparametric quantile regression with varying regression quantiles. We also consider a cross validation method for the optimal values of hyperparameters which affect the performance of the proposed method. Numerical studies with synthetic and real data are conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed estimation of the regression functions.

TRPC4 Is an Essential Component of the Nonselective Cation Channel Activated by Muscarinic Stimulation in Mouse Visceral Smooth Muscle Cells

Classical transient receptor potential channels (TRPCs) are thought to be candidates for the nonselective cationchannels (NSCCs) involved in pacemaker activity and its neuromodulation in murine stomach smooth muscle. We aimed to determine the role of TRPC4 in the formation of NSCCs and in the generation of slow waves. At a holding potential of –60 mV, 50 μM carbachol (CCh) induced INSCC of amplitude [500.8 ±161.8 pA (n = 8)] at –60 mV in mouse gastric smooth muscle cells. We investigated the effects of commercially available antibodies to TRPC4 on recombinant TRPC4expressed in HEK cells and CCh-induced NSCCs in gastric smooth muscle cells. TRPC4 currents in HEK cells were reduced from 1525.6 ± 414.4 pA (n = 8) to146.4 ± 83.3 pA (n = 10) by anti-TRPC4 antibody and INSCC amplitudes were reduced from 230.9 ± 36.3 pA (n= 15) to 49.8 ± 11.8 pA (n = 9). Furthermore, INSCC in the gastric smooth muscle cells of TRPC4 knockout mice was only 34.4 ± 10.4 pA (n = 8) at –60 mV. However, slow waves were still present in the knockout mice. Our data suggest that TRPC4 is an essential component of the NSCC activated by muscarinicstimulation in the murine stomach.

Academic High School Students’ Perceptions of Quality English Teachers and Teaching

This study investigated 168 academic high school students’ perceptions of quality English teachers and teaching in a suburban area of Busan. For data collection a questionnaire consisting of six categories was used. The categories were knowledge of theories and practice and linguistic competence; teaching and management skills; interaction and social skills; material use; assessment; and professional development. The students perceived the interaction and social skills category as most important, and the assessment category ranked second. Among the total 44 items, teachers’ equitable treatment of students; enthusiasm in teaching with affection for students; and reflecting learning content appropriately in tests were of highest concern to students, with student participation through presentation ranked lowest. Female students valued teachers having language competence and knowledge, and managing academic records more than males. From these findings, it is suggested that teachers monitor their own attitudes and behaviours and be sensitive to students’ needs and responses. The use of inclusive pedagogies involving diverse levels of questioning and assessment is also important. Alongside institutes developing practical professional development programmes, teachers should endeavour to maintain their enthusiasm as a professional. These will contribute to the realisation of more learner-centred and extensive language learning beyond test-focused lessons and practices.
