This paper aims to propose a possible model for a practical reception of Feminist Literary Criticism into an analysis of women’s oppressions in literary works. A careful examination of our present reception of Feminist Literary Criticism shows that in spite of the deepening understanding among critics, its reception by the general public can be said to have been negligible. Still worse, various trends and conflicting positions in Feminist Literary Criticism have created confusion in our critical discussions including those on the aesthetic values of literary works. At this juncture, what is crucially required is not the theoretical arguments but the urgent recognition to shift our attentions to actual problems and their solutions. Based on such an awareness, we reverse in this paper the common practice of applying theories to works: that is, we classify typical women’s experiences repeatedly depicted in literary works and attempt to analyse their socio-political significance within the contexts of several theories of Feminist Literary Criticism. This approach can be claimed to present a desirable model for a practical reception of Feminist Literary Criticism, since we reach a better understaninding of Feminist Literary Criticism from the actual problems of women’s oppressions.
Androgyny in Wuthering Heights
Vol.10 No.-
This study intends to furnish fresh insight into the peculiar character of the relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine as the core of the work. For this purpose, this paper examines various opinions and interpretations of the cirtics on Wuthering Heights. Through that comprehensive examining, the distinctive and strong androgenous quality is demonstrated in Heathcliff-Catherine relationship. The conclusion is that the metaphysical and ontological concept of androgyny establishes a dialectic balance with the work’s detailed realism and that Wuthering Heights is a superb work of art thereupon.
This article aims to examine the recollections of wives and aspects of their emotional expressions in gasa written by male authors. The results of the study are as follows. First, memories of a wife as a companion are evoked and gratitude for their wife is expressed. The authors express gratitude for warm advice, and for their struggles with household difficulties. Second, the work reflect on the wandering self and express feelings of resentment and longing for their wives. Third, tragic scenes of a lost mother are depicted and the grief of a nurtured child is expressed in the image of a nursing baby looking for its mother’s milk, capturing the feelings of a parent who has to raise a child alone. Fourth, the situation in which their parents raised their children instead of them is highlighted and worries about not having a housekeeper are expressed. It can be seen that the recollections of their wives in the gasa written by male authors mainly relate to the important event of bereavement. The process of remembering a wife is centered on her, but the author himself, their children, and their parents are also evoked and organized in a complex way. On the other hand, it can be said that a common characteristic of gasa written by male authors is that their expression of emotion is more direct than in Chinese poetry.
Selective Autophagy Receptors Interact with EDEM1 During itsDegradation
Vol.2012 No.1
EDEM1 is an endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein degradation (ERAD) component. ERAD is a cellular pathway that targets misfolded and misassembled glycoproteins for degradation. EDEM1 is involved in the recognition of misfolded luminal glycoproteins and in routing them for dislocation to the cytosol, followed by their degradation. EDEM1 interacts with substrate glycoproteins after their exit from the calnexin/calreticulin cycle and after processing by ER-mannosidase I. Although EDEM1 was proposed to be lectin–like and to react with Man8GlcNAc2 oligosaccharides, itsmechanism of action and its fate are still largely unknown. In a previous report, we found that EDEM1 becomes rapidly degraded and that this occurs by basal autophagy. Here, we show that EDEM1 forms complexes with the selective autophagy receptor p62, NBR1 and Alfy. This was demonstrated in HepG2 cells by double immunogold electron microscopy. Furthermore, we show the interaction between p62 and EDEM1 by immunoprecipitation- Western blot experiments. By serial section analysis, the origin of the phagophore for selective autophagy of EDEM1 could be identified as modified parts of rough ER cisternae. Hence, we provide new insight into the details of EDEM1 degradation process.

The purpose of the study was to identify key design features of virtual reality with head-mounted displays (HMD) and touchless interface for the hearing-impaired and hard-of-hearing learners. The virtual reality based training program was aimed to help hearing-impaired learners in machine operating learning, which requires spatial understanding to operate. We developed an immersive virtual learning environment prototype with an HMD (Oculus Rift) and a touchless natural user interface (Leap Motion) to identify the key design features required to enhance virtual reality for the hearing-impaired and hard-of-hearing learners. Two usability tests of the prototype were conducted, which revealed that several features in the system need revision and that the technology presents an enormous potential to help hearing-impaired learners by providing realistic and immersive learning experiences. After the usability tests of hearing-impaired students` exploring the 3D virtual space, interviews were conducted, which also established that further revision of the system is needed, which would take into account the learners` physical as well as cognitive characteristics.
