        A new non-linear parameter $\mathcal{Q}$ from FT-Rheology under nonlinear dynamic oscillatory shear for polymer melts system

        Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear (LAOS) is a test method for the characterization of complex fluids. Varying independently both strain amplitude (${\gamma}_0$) and frequency (${\omega}$) allows covering a broad spectrum of rheological responses with respect to time scales and involved non-linearity. Moreover, it is experimentally relatively simple to generate LAOS flow, because dynamic oscillatory shear does not involve any sudden jump in either strain or strain rate. There are several methods to analyze the resulting torque data received from the LAOS test protocol: (1) the G' and G" as a function of strain amplitude (2) Stress shape (stress vs. time) or Lissajous pattern (stress vs. strain or stress vs. strain rate) (3) Fourier transform (4) generalized "storage" and "loss" modulus when decomposing the nonlinear stress data (5) Chebyschev polynomials using decomposing stress data and further development of Chebyschev polynomials. The Fourier Transform (FT)-Rheology is perhaps the most sensitive method of those discussed above. A new nonlinear parameter $\mathcal{Q}$ established from FT-Rheolgy under LAOS flow, i.e. ${\mathcal{Q}}({\omega},{\gamma}_0){\equiv}I_{3/1}/{\gamma}_0^2$, as well as the zero-strain nonlinearity or intrinsic nonlinearity ${\mathcal{Q}}_0({\omega}){\equiv}lim_{{\gamma}_0{\rightarrow}0}{\mathcal{Q}}({{\omega},{\gamma}_0)$ by Hyun and Wilhelm (2009). In this study, therefore recent experiment and simulation results of nonlinear parameter $\mathcal{Q}$ from FT-Rheology for polymer melt and polymer composite systemsare reviewed.

        Nonlinear response of polypropylene (PP)/Clay nanocomposites under dynamic oscillatory shear flow

        Dynamic oscillatory shear flow tests, i.e. small, medium, and large amplitude oscillatory shear (SAOS, MAOS, and LAOS), are useful to study polymer composite systems. In this study, MAOS and LAOS tests were used to investigate the dynamic behavior of electrically activated polypropylene (PP)/Clay nanocomposites. The morphology of PP/Clay nanocomposites could be controlled by the applied time, type (AC and DC), and strength of the electric field. Various electrically activated PP/Clay nanocomposites were compared in terms of $I_{3/1}$, which was determined from FT-Rheology within the MAOS and LAOS region. Nonlinear-Linear viscoelastic Ratio (NLR), which developed by Lim et al. (2011), was calculated to measure the dispersion quality of the PP/Clay nanocomposites.

        Species membership in claiming rights : Critique of Elizabeth Anderson’s essay “Animal rights and the values of nonhuman life”

        In this paper, I criticize Elizabeth Anderson's claim that species membership matters in deciding what rights one can claim. In her essay “Animal rights and the values of nonhuman life”, Elizabeth Anderson claims that species membership matters in deciding whether one can claim positive right to human provision. Justification for her claim is that only members of ‘our’ group have positive rights to the group's provision while beings that are not included in ‘our’ group do not have positive rights to the group's provision. Since species difference does indeed decide who is included in ‘our’ group and who is left out, Anderson concludes that species membership decides who can claim positive right to human provision. I claim that Anderson's premise that species difference decides who is included in ‘our’ group is unjustified. I also claim that even if we grant that this premise is true (after revising the premise a little bit), this revised version of premise would force Anderson to accept a conclusion that would be unacceptable. Since Anderson would not be able to accept this ridiculous conclusion, I conclude this paper by claiming that Anderson's claim that species membership makes difference in who gets positive right to human provision is unjustified.

        Evolution of Feeling of Free Will

        In this article, I will first make a distinction between belief of free will and feeling of free will and claim that even though it seems plausible to say that only humans have belief of free will, feeling of free will might be something different and therefore might exist in nonhuman animals as well. To illustrate this point, researches from psychologists, such as Baumeister to those from neuroscientists are dealt. Then, I will delve further into the feeling of free will and make the case that humans have feeling of free will not because we actually have free will but because this type of feeling evolved. I will then present possible theories including various evolutionary theories that try to explain how feeling of free will has evolved in humans. I will conclude the article by mentioning the implications and limitations of the study and end it with suggestions for further researches.

        CSSCI 상위 학술지에 게재된 북한 관련 연구의 경향 분석 : 최근 10년간 국제정치학 분야 18개 주요학술지를 대상으로

        본 연구는 중국 국제정치학계에서 북한 관련 연구가 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 연구 경향을 분석한다. 연구대상은 10년 동안 18개의 CSSCI 주요학술지에 실린 논문이고, 총 126편이다. 분석 결과로 첫째, 연구추세의 경우, 북한 관련 연구는 꾸준히 이어져 오고 있었다. 둘째, 연구자 소속 지역의 경우 베이징이 가장 많았고, 박사학위 취득국가는 중국이 3/4 이상을 차지하였다. 셋째, 연구영역 및 연구주제의 경우, 국제정치영역과 외교정책 및 전략이 가장 많았다. 넷째, 연구방법의 경우, 대부분 정성연구였다. 우리는 본 연구를 통하여 북한을 연구하는 중국 학자들의 주요 관심사(특정 국가의 대북정책 및 북핵)와 그 교육 배경을 알 수 있다. This article is to analyze the trends of DPRK-related research in Chinese political science. The study addresses papers published in 18 major CSSCI journals over ten years, from 2010 to 2019 with a total of 126 volumes. According to these results, firstly, concerning the trend of research, DPRK-related research has continued steadily. Second, scholars in Beijing have been highly engaged in studying North Korea compared to other regions. Also, more than three-quarters of scholars have obtained their Ph.D. degrees in China. Third, scholars have mainly focused on international relations, foreign policies, and strategies. Finally, most DPRK studies in China have utilized qualitative methods. We can understand that Chinese scholars’ main interests in studying North Korea and their educational background through this study.

        세기말의 인간학과 이종(異種)들 - 프랑크 베데켄트의 ‘룰루-비극’과 프리츠 랑의 <메트로폴리스>에 나타난 동물성과 기계성 -

        해러웨이는 자신의 페미니즘적 이론을 뒷받침하기 위해 조금 독특한 방식을 취한다. ‘유인원’과 ‘사이보그’를 ‘여성’과 같은 맥락에 위치시킴으로써, 기존의 차별적 이원론을 해체하는 방식을 선택하고 있는 것이다. 베데킨트의 ‘룰루-비극’과 프리츠 랑의 <메트로폴리스>는, 해러웨이적 시각의 단초를 보여주는 동시에 그 한계를 보여주는 훌륭한 예시로 기능한다. 베데킨트의 룰루는 기존의 서구의 다양한 이원론, 특히 남과 여의 이원론을 흔드는 경계적 존재로 기능하며, 프리츠 랑의 사이보그 마리아는 자본주의적 이원론, 즉 머리와 손의 이원론을 흔든다. 이들 경계적 피조물들은 ‘괴물 monsters’로서 현존하는 차별적 세계관을 ‘보여주는 de-monstrate’ 존재, 아니 ‘비존재’로 기능하는 것이다. 하지만 이러한 미덕에도 불구하고 두 작품 모두 이 비존재를 창녀로 파멸시킴으로써 옛 질서로 회귀하는 듯한 결말을 보여주는 한계를 가진다. Haraway verfolgt einen einzigartigen Ansatz, um ihre feministische Theorie zu unterstützen. Indem sie ‘Simians’ und ‘Cyborgs’ in den gleichen Kontext wie ‘Frauen’ stellt, baut sie den bestehenden diskriminierenden Dualismus ab. Wedekinds ‘Lulu-Tragödie’ und Fritz Langs Metropolis sind hervorragende Beispiele für Haraways Perspektiven, die sie bietet. Wedekinds Lulu fungiert als Grenzeinheit, die verschiedene Dualismen der westlichen Geistesgeschichte erschüttert, insbesondere den Dualismus von Mann und Frau. Der Cyborg Maria erschüttert zudem den kapitalistischen Dualismus, also die Trennung von Kopf und Hand. Diese Kreaturen sind also ‘monsters’, die als ‘Non-Wesen’ fungieren, die die bestehenden diskriminierenden Weltanschauungen zeigen, nähmlich ‘de-monstrate’. Trotz dieser Tugenden weisen beide Werke jedoch Einschränkungen auf. Am Ende wird diese Grenzexistenz jeweils zerstört (bzw. zur Prostituierten), was einer Rückkehr zur alten Ordnung gleichkommt.

      • 시계열 온실 환경 인자와 딸기 생육 특성간의 상관성 연구

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the growth conditions of the crops and the environment of the greenhouse according to the variation of temperature inside the greenhouse. The environment sensor (i.e. temperature and humidity sensor) which were installed in the greenhouse were collected as environmental factor. The growth index of strawberry were measured to fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight, sugar content and yield according to the average temperature and humidity. The correlation between the environmental factors in the greenhouse and the growth index of strawberry was investigated by simple linear regression. The production of strawberry showed a slight difference in each location, but the production of strawberry was increased in the area close to the heater.

        A study on method of reducing condensation for total heat exchanger under humid conditions

        An experimental study was performed to reduce the condensation under very humid conditions for a total heat exchanger. The hydrochromic ink was used to detect the condensation within the total heat exchanger. Condensation in a total heat exchanger can be reduced by decreasing the flow rate of the supply air. The other method of decreasing the flow rate of the exhaust air can also be used to reduce condensation. However the flow rate of the exhaust air has to be less than half of the supply air flow rate for the tested total heat exchanger.

      • Clinical characteristics and prognosis of fibrotic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia according to underlying causes

        Background: Fibrotic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) is frequently associated with connective tissue diseases. However, prognosis according to associated diseases is still contradictory. Methods: In this retrospective study, we reviewed clinical data of 256 patients who were diagnosed with fibrotic NSIP by surgical lung biopsy between 1996 and 2018. Survival was estimated by Kaplan-Meier method. Factors associated with survival was analyzed by multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Of 256 study patients, 106 (41.4%) patients had connective tissue diseases while 150 (58.6%) were diagnosed with idiopathic NSIP. Median age was 54 years and 172 (67.2%) was female. Median forced vital capacity and diffusing capacity was 67% and 62%, respectively. Patients with connective tissue diseases were younger (57 years vs. 51 years) and lower diffusing capacity (67% vs. 58%). However, no difference in gender, smoking status, or forced vital capacity was observed. Patients with connective tissue diseases showed better survival outcome compared to that of idiopathic NSIP (Median survival [187.5 ± 4.6] months vs. [162.9 ± 6.6], P = 0.034). In multivariate analysis, the factor associated with survival was relapse after treatment [Adjusted odds ratio 8.947 (2.412 - 33.145), P< 0.001]. Discussion: Idiopathic fibrotic NSIP was associated with poorer survival compared to that of fibrotic NSIP with connective tissue disease.

        Molecular Mechanisms of Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor Resistance in Phytopathogenic Fungi

        The succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) is a class of fungicides, which is widely and rapidly used to manage fungal pathogens in the agriculture field. Currently, fungicide resistance to SDHIs has been devel- oped in many different plant pathogenic fungi, causing diseases on crops, fruits, vegetables, and turf. Under- standing the molecular mechanisms of fungicide resistance is important for effective prevention and resis- tance management strategies. Two different mechanisms have currently been known in SDHI resistance. The SDHI target genes, SdhB, SdhC, and SdhD, mutation(s) confer resistance to SDHIs. In addition, overexpression of ABC transporters is involved in reduced sensitivity to SDHI fungicides. In this review, the current status of SDHI resistance mechanisms in phytopathogenic fungi is discussed.
