The effect of the phosphate component on the thermal stability of tension coatings was investigated with a focus on thecrystallization behavior of amorphous silica in the tension coating. After stress-relief annealing, core loss of samples coatedwith a Mg-phosphate was improved, while that coated with an Al-phosphate was deteriorated. The domain wall spacing ofthe samples coated with Mg- and Al-phosphates was respectively increased and decreased after stress relief annealing. Thismeans that the stress relief annealing did not much diminish the tensile stress for Mg-phosphate coating but much diminishedthe tensile stress for Al-phosphate coating. Based on FTIR and XRD results, we found that the crystallization temperatureof silica with Al-phosphate was lower than that of silica with Mg-phosphate. The crystallization of silica was accompaniedby an abrupt volume change, which formed cracks in the tension coating and deteriorated the tensile stress.

The primary production of phytoplankton in oyster farming bays were seasonally measured by ^14C method in Hansan-Koje Bay and Kamagyang Bay for one year period. In Hansan-Koje Bay, mean daily primary production was 0.52gC/㎡/day(0.22∼1.02gC/㎡/day), and it was relatively high in summer and low in winter. Annual primary production was estimated to be 189gC/㎡/yr. Mean chlorophyll α content was 1.70mg/㎥, and it was relatively high in summer. In Kamagyang Bay, mean daily primary production was 0.91gC/㎡/day(0.11∼3.61gC/㎡/day), and it was maximum in summer and minimum in fall. Annual primary production was estimated to be 334gC/㎡/yr. Mean chlorophyll α concentration was 2.34mg/㎥, and it was maximum in summer and relatively high in winter. Considering the water area of the two osyter farming bays, annual carbon production by phytoplankton were 9,450 ton in Hansan-Koje Bay and 37,000 ton in Kamagyang Bay. In general pattern of primary production in these bays, high production occurs in summer with increasing trend since spring.

Recurrent mandibular dislocation is frequent morbidity of temporomandibular joint relatively. There are many etiologic causes in TMJ disorders but, difficult to find obvious one. Various treatment methods have been utilized for a mandibular dislocation. It is categorized into two groups broadly - nonsurgical or surgical methods. The basic rationale of the surgical method is to allow free movement of the condyle by reducing height of articular eminence or to limit anterior excessive movement of the condyle by increasing height of articular eminence or soft tissue anchoring procedure. In this case, 69 year-old woman was treated by augmentation of the articular eminence with mandibular symphysial bone graft leading to osteosynthesis without difficulty. As a result, favorable postoperative outcome was obtained functionally without any complication or recurrence.
Functional role of cysteine proteinase cathepsin B in the silkworm Bombyx mori metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a development process involving the programmed cell death of obsolete larval organs. Aspartic proteinase cathepsin D (BmCatD) is involved in the silkworm Bombyx mori metamorphosis. Here we show a novel functional role of cysteine proteinase cathepsin B during B. mori metamorphosis. The B. mori cathepsin B (BmCatB) was expressed in the fat body, epidermis, ovary, testis, and hemocyte of the larval and pupal stages. The BmCatB was ecdysoneinduced, expressed in the fat body of the molting, the final larval instar and pupal stages, and its expression led to programmed cell death. RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated BmCatB knock-down inhibited the programmed cell death of larval and pupal fat body, resulting in the arrest of larval-pupal transformation. BmCatB RNAi is up-regulated the expression of BmCatD. Based on these results we concluded that BmCatB is critically involved in the histolysis of the larval and pupal fat body, indicating that BmCatB and BmCatD are mutally regulated during silkworm metamorphosis.

Multiple Gastrointestinal Tract MALT Lymphoma with Involvement of Bone Marrow Background The stomach is the most commonly involved site, accounting for more than 75% of gastrointestinal tract lymphoma while synchronous MALT lymphoma of stomach and duodenum is very rare. Furthermore, according to the literature review, there was not reported any case of the synchronous gastroduodenal MALT lymphoma with involvement of bone marrow and spleen. According to NCCN Guidelines, in nongastric MALT lymphoma and gastric MALT lymphoma bone marrow biopsy and aspirate, proton emission tomography is recommended in the selective case and absolute indication of these examinations is not describe. Case 62-year-old man visited the clinic for the purpose of health examinations and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed. Mucosa inflammation and abnormal fusion of mucosal folds in third part of the duodenum was observed and biopsies were performed. About 1.5 cm sized ulcer scar at greater curvature of lower body was observed and biopsies were done and about 1 cm sized elevated erosion at greater curvature of upper body was observed and biopsies were done. On histopathologic examination, lymphoid hyperplasia and lymphoepithelial lesion at gastric and duodenal mucosa ware observed. On immunohistochemical staining, CD20 and B-cell staining was positive. Other staging evaluations, including colonoscopy, abdomino-pelvic CT, chest CT, 18F fludeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, and a bone marrow examination showed involvement of bone marrow and spleen. So we diagnosed stage EIV MALT lymphoma and systemic chemotherapy began. Conclusion We experienced multiple gastrointestinal tract MALT lymphoma with involvement of bone marrow and spleen and if there were found multiple gastrointestinal tract MALT lymphoma, we suggest that bone marrow biopsy may be checked more aggressive.

Lubiprostone (LPT), a novel laxative, is commercially available as a soft gelatin capsule with oily ingredient, complementing its poor water-solubility and oxygen-labile property. In the present study, in order to address drawbacks associated with soft capsule formulations such as difficulty in process control or high production costs, conversion of the drug-loaded oil solution into powder dosage form was attempted using several oily ingredients and porous solid carriers. Drug solubilization in medium chain triglycerides (MCT) drastically improved the drug stability compared to that in powder or other oily ingredients, exhibiting over 95% of the drug remaining after 5?days of storage at 60?°C. However, conversion of drug-loaded MCT into a free-flowing powder using porous carriers markedly deteriorated drug stability. Although the drug stability in the solidified formulations prepared using Avicel PH 102 or Aerosil 200 were relatively higher than those prepared using metallic adsorbents (Florite, DCP A/T, and Neusilin US2), they were less stable than in the intact oil solution under stress and accelerated condition. This implied that the decreased thickness of the oily barrier in the solidified formula failed to inhibit the exposure of the labile compound to oxygen and/or moisture, thereby accelerating drug degradation. In vitro drug release from the adsorbent progressed rapidly, providing complete drug release within 15?min, under sink condition. This study suggests that the kind of oily vehicle and the thickness of the barrier are important factors for ensuring the stability of LPT, an oxygen-labile compound, and additional pharmaceutical approaches are required for the construction of stable solid preparations.

Currently, flies are used to pollinate Welsh onion for seed production. However, the use of flies for pollination has caused problems in Welsh onion seed production due to sanitation issues, smell, and the difficulty of feeding the flies. Therefore, we investigated the effects of pollination with bumblebees (Bombus terrestris), flies (e.g., houseflies, flesh flies, blue bottle flies), mason bees (Osmia cornifrons), honeybees (Apis mellifera) and blowflies (Lucilia illustris) in a small net screen house (2.2m×1.7m×2.5m) for onion seed production. Although the number of flies was about three times than that of other insect pollinators, fies and bumblebees showed equivalent pollination ratios, but the remaining three insect species showed lower values. For the percentage of seed set per umbel, the number of seeds per flower and umbel, bumblebees and flies showed similar results. These results showed that pollination by bumblebees can be used as an alternative approach in breeding Welsh onion. An analysis of the most appropriate colony of bumblebees for use as pollinators for breeding Welsh onion in a small net screen house showed that colony of fifty to eighty bees was the most efficient level. The visiting time on the flower and spending time from a flower to another flower of B. terrestris worker on small net screen house was 2.2 seconds and 1.8 seconds, respectively.
