MRC Analysis of Cooperative Diversity with Fixed-Gain Relays in Nakagami-m Fading Channels
Hyundong Shin,Ju Bin Song IEEE 2008 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS Vol.7 No.6
<P>We derive the exact maximal-ratio combining (MRC) performance of dual-hop cooperative diversity systems with L-antenna destination reception in Nakagami-m fading channels, where a single-antenna relay operates in fixed-gain (semi-blind) amplify-and-forward (AF) mode. We also show that if m0, m1, and m2 are the respective Nakagami parameters for the source-to-destination, source-to-relay, and relay-to-destination links, the fixed-gain AF cooperation with MRC achieves the diversity order of m0L + min {m1, m2L}.</P>

When a shock wave arrives at an open end of tube, an impulse wave is discharged from the tube exit and<br/> causes serious noise and vibration problems. In the current study, the effect of the cross-sectional area of tube<br/> on the impulse wave is numerically investigated using a CFD method. The Harten.Yee’s total variation<br/> diminishing(TVD) scheme is used to solve the axisymmetric, two-dimensional, unsteady, compressible Euler<br/> equations. With three different cross-sectional areas of tube, the Mach number of the incident shock wave Ms<br/> is varied between 1.01 and 1.5. The results obtained show that the directivity and magnitude of impulse wave<br/> strongly depend upon the Mach number of incident shock wave and are influenced by the tube area. It is also<br/> known that the tube cross-sectional area significantly affects the magnitude of impulse wave at or near the<br/> tube axis.

Thc potential benefits of multiple-antenna systems may be limited by two types of channel degradations- rank deficiency and spatial fading correlation of the channel, In this paper, we assess the effects of these degradations on the diversity performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, with an emphasis on orthogonal space-time block codes, in terms of the symbol error probability, the effective fading figure (EFF), and the capacity at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), In particular, we consider a general family of MIMO channels known as double-scattering channels-i.e., Rayleigh product MIMO channels -which encompasses a variety of propagation environments from independent and identically distributed Rayleigh to degenerate keyhole or pinhole cases bv embracing both rank-deficient and spatial correlation effects, It is shown that a MIMO system with (n)^U transmit and (n)^R receive antennas achieves the diversity of order n_(T)n_(S)n_(R)/max(n_(T)n_(S)n_(R)) in a double-scattering channel with n_(S) effective scatterers. We also quantify the combined effect of the spatial correlation and the lack of scattering richness on the EFF and the low-SNR capacity in terms of the correlation figures of transmit, receive, and scatterer correlation matrices. We further show the monotonicity properties of these performance measures with respect to the strength of spatial correlation, characterized by the eigenvalue majorization relations of the correlation matrices.

Under the circumstances in which the distribution rate of water supply reaches 98.6%, efforts for stable operation of facilities are being carried out through a variety of studies. The asset management of water supply system using a life cycle cost analysis model is expected to be settled and stabilized within the next decade through continuous researches. An analysis model is divided into several stages of initial installation cost, maintenance cost, and disposal/replacement cost. In this research, a portion of YW filtration plant’s data was used to conduct an LCC analysis. Through an LCC analysis, asset management was performed and ways to efficiently distribute a budget and to ensure stability were proposed.
