The work presented here deals with controller desgn using error model constructed with proportional control ramp response. The design aims at the improvement of transient response, steady-state error reduction with stability presrvation, generation of the consistent contour error through the proportional gain regulation of a mismatched system. The first step is to generate tracking-error curve with proportional control only and decide the added error signal shape on the error curve. The next is to construct a table for the steady-state loop gain with step input. The table is used for selecting the proportional gain. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is confirmed through the simulation and experiment.

When a new suspension is being developed a good ride quality and handling performance will be achieved by co-work of vehicle designer, computer aided engineer and test driver. In this study. new suspension system has been developed. In order to analyze initial vehicle performance. VIDS (Vehicle Initial Design Software) operating system under windows 98 graphical interface environments is developed. By using this software. the initial design performance of study vehicle is calculated. and proper design parameters are researched. Also design and tuning specification of vehicle components are suggested in accordance with optimized parameters. <br/> In order to evaluate kinematic performance. ADAMS simulation is utilized by making quarter car model. Through this simulation. kinematic optimization of suspension system is suggested. Target performance is established using 3 vehicles (competitive 2 vehicles and 1 study vehicle) with subjective test at P/G(proving ground). To fulfil the performance target of the vehicle. a vehicle is built from vehicle layout and component design. Pro to car is built and tested and tuned to verify design validities. Simultaneously. subjective test of study vehicle is performed under ISO standard. In summary. suspension system of utility vehicle has been developed through computer analysis and design. and total process of test and tuning has been described

The effects of β-glucan isolated from Aureobasidium pullulans were observed on acute xyleneinduced inflammation. β-glucan at a dose of 62.5, 125 or 250 mg/kg were administered once orally to xylene-treated mice (0.03 mL of xylene was applied on the anterior surface of the right ear to induce inflammation), and the body weight change, ear weight, histological profiles and histomorphometrical analyses of ear were conducted upon sacrifice. The xylene was topically applied 30min after dosing with β-glucan. The results were compared to those of diclofenac, indomethacin and dexamethasone (15 mg/kg injected once intraperitoneally). All animals were sacrificed 2 h after xylene application. Xylene application resulted in marked increases in induced ear weights compared to that of intact control ear; hence, the differences between intact and induced ear were also significantly increased. The histological characteristics of acute inflammation, such as severe vasodilation, edematous changes of skin and infiltration of inflammatory cells, were detected in xylene-treated control ears with marked increase in the thickness of the ear tissues. However, these xylene-induced acute inflammatory changes were significantly and dose-dependently decreased by β-glucan treatment. We conclude that β-glucan from A. pullulans has a somewhat favorable effect in the reduction of the acute inflammatory responses induced by xylene application in mice.

Radionuclide activities of <TEX>$^{210}Pb$</TEX> and <TEX>$^{226}Ra$</TEX> were measured to determine bioturbation coefficients (<TEX>$D_b$</TEX>) in seven sediment cores from the Korean licensed block for polymetallic nodules in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone. Variability in <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> is considered in the context of the sedimentological, geochemical, and geotechnical properties of the sediments. <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> values in the studied cores were estimated using a steady-state diffusion model and varied over a wide range from 1.1 to <TEX>$293cm^2/yr$</TEX> with corresponding mixing depths (L) of 26 to 144 cm. When excepting for spurious results obtained from cores where diffusive mixing does not apply, <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> values range from 1.1 to <TEX>$9.0cm^2/yr$</TEX> with corresponding mixing depths (L) of 26 to 63 cm. Such wide variability in <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> and L values is exceptional in sites with water depths of ~5000 m and is attributed in this study to an uneven distribution of sediment layers with different shear strengths and total organic carbon (TOC) contents, caused by erosion events. The studied cores can be grouped into two categories based on lithologic associations: layers with high maximum shear strength (MSS) and low TOC content, showing a narrow range of <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> values (<TEX>$1.1-9.0cm^2/yr$</TEX>); and layers with low MSS and high TOC content, yielding much higher <TEX>$D_b$</TEX> values of over <TEX>$30cm^2/yr$</TEX>. The distribution of different lithologies, and the resultant spatial variability in MSS and labile organic matter content, controls the presence and maximum burrowing depth of infauna by affecting their mobility and the availability of food. This study provides a unique case showing that shear strength, which relates to the degree of sediment consolidation, might be an important factor in controlling rates of bioturbation and sediment mixing depths.
